I didn't early vote, but my 19 year old did here in Virginia. Stood in line with her Dad for two and a half hours on Saturday. When she finally got to the table, the polling officer shouted out "we have a first time voter here" and everyone clapped and hooted for her. How cool is that? smiling smiley

Maybe I have missed it but why aren't they rehearsing any of the songs that were on the sg and exile deluxe sets like pms or keep up blues? Does anythink they will ever play them?

Because Rolling Stones' magazine, the official concert setlist decider for its musical namesake, has not voted any of those tunes among its top 10 listener polls.

The Rolling Stones have never played so many songs since they started rehearsing at the beginning of October, after "Lady jane" they had a tea break and then it felt like a real gig.
This is also the first time that they are rehearsing "Satisfaction"

[rockerparis.blogspot.fr]

Hmm .... well I'll gladly take the ones in bold, and the others I could personally do without. Having said that, I know perfectly well we'll get some of 'em for sure !! it's unavoidable !!

Interesting list of songs rehearsed today! But I doubt they would play this as a set in concert.

Somebody to love
Around & around

Far away eyes (x2)
Moonlight mile (x2)
Out of Control (x2)

The Golden Era - is 1962-1982 IMHO

Anyway The Rolling Stones think the same. Crossfire Hurrican ends in 1982.

Soem notes of the set list

- 1964 is represented extremily well: 9 songs!
. SOME GIRLS is represented also extremily well: only "Lies" without a try!
- The Golden Era: BB 3 (+JJF), LIB 6 (+HTW), SF 7, EOMS 7
- the last 30 yaers of their existence are represented with TWO songs (plus teh new ones)

A nostagia act, huh? Well, let's say that also they awere what is important and what is not...

I think the rehearsal set list very well echoes the standard Stones history
- first a cover band (some blues and Berry numbers)
- then a singles band: the big hits of the 60's familair from every graetest hits package
- then the four masterpiece albums containing their strongest material
- the graet come back with SOME GIRLS (really THAT big?)
- after TATTOO YOU: nada

We know this story, right? grinning smiley

I've been artisticwise rather critical towards "Vegas Era", and I understand the point that if one has such a catalog, it is sensible to pick up the best ones...

But still... come on!

Since TATTOO YOU The Stones have released six million-selling albums (and quick minds can count how many news songs there are), made numerous hugest ever tours in human history breaking every record, and what is the score: 2 bloody numbers they think are worth of rehearsing! TWO!!! Are they joking?

Shit, and I'd been harsh when putting down the last 30 years, but that total ignorance they lately have exercised (CROSSFIRE HURRICANE) starts to like old-Soviet-like rewriting of history... Or do they need to be so honest when judging the past...grinning smiley

And they are right: is there anyone here missing post-TATTOO YOU songs? Right... not even the toughest of the die-hards who say to love VOODOO LOUNGE or A BIGGER BANG so much, are not making any noise... When it comes to 'chosing' the set list, the charm of the new albums quickly fades away....

No no; I am not complaining at all - I am just stunned how obvious it all is now, how 'pure nostalgia', acccepted by all fronts, and how clearly the history - the real story - is to be seen now (and how little the last 30 years actually matter)... finally.

I'd much prefer to avoid warhorses that have been played to death; every time worse by the way.
They hace tons of good music even in the last 30 years
If you focus on the best years you will have the same old warhorses and hits.
We have seen and heard them playing this songs thousands of times, and it does'nt move me too much.
Anyway, they are celebrating an special aniversary, and it is understandable that the set list must be so predictable
It is true that the last 30 years are not their best, but we have kept hooked on the band and the music they have produced; and i must admit that i prefer new and fresh material than a bad version of BS, JJF, SFTD...........................

With you there - love the album but hey, why not more songs from Aftermath or some of the seldom played genius songs on Beggars Banquet such as Parachute Woman, Salt of The Earth or indeed the never played live Jigsaw Puzzle.

In fact no one ever talks about wanting to hear Jigsaw Puzzle live. What a thrill to hear that would be.

Hi Doxa, first of all thank you very much for putting up the list of songs rehearsed so far. I could skip Tumbling Dice as I had it on every show attended since 1976, but for all others I could live with it.

Perhaps I am now reading the tea leaves but I assume that there is a strategy in rehearsing most songs until the It's only Rock and Roll era. If they will have guests like Taylor and / or Wyman they would know these songs still from their heart. Also other musicians would not refer to the latest issue of Stones Material.

Mind you as much as I loved Bigger Bang songs like Back of My Hand or Rain Fall Down I heard those during the BB Tour as well. Of course it would be nice to have a song from Voodoo Lounge or Steel Wheels, but at the end they can only present an small part of their vast anthology.

A nice choice Jigsaw Puzzle and parachute woman. Why not try everything is turning? or down on the hole? or a rough version of One hit? Sad sad was very nice played live as well. Sparks will fly, cheap the thrill........riug justice, oh no not you again.....................
