Does it really matter which songs they rehearse at this point? Didn't they rehearse a bunch of unexpected tunes in Toronto for the last tour but only played a small amount of them along with the usual songs?

How does One More Shot sound? Wish we'd get some live recordings from the rehearsals. Go on posting Richards, love it!

Are they still in Paris?

For me the rehearsals from the 16th (20 songs in a specific order) look like a skeleton of the show.
After that and until the 26th they rehearsed mostly for the warm up shows.
Since thirsday, they rehearse many new songs not in specific order.
After the last rehearsals, it will be easy to figure the ultimate set list.

At the moment, i'm feeling something like this :
Openning song (JJF, PIB or Route 66)
4 to 5 songs from the early sixties
The 2 new ones
2 "ballads" or at least medium tempo including Lady Jane
Mick Taylor's spot for 1 or 2 songs / If not, it will be Midnight Rambler
Keith's ones (Happy and/or Before they make me run)
The grand finale with the war horses.

Makes sense, OOC would be nice too, it's always worked well on stage and it would be nice to have something from after 1981 other than the two new ones.

A question for you all :

last night I hung around "the place" long after the band had left ( = 9 pm) and I clearly heard some stonish rock music being played.

So it was either the roadies having a go on the band's instruments (unlikely) OR was it someone (Leavell/Don Was?) playing back the songs rehearsed in the afternoon to check what's okay and what's not...? What rocks and what needs to be polished at the next session?

I assume all the rehearsals are digitally recorded so it's easy to plug a Mac to the P.A. to assess them...

Opinions?

Sorry, I didn't continue to post but Anyway, in disprder, they played Wild Horses, just want to Make love, OUT OF CONTROL, little Queenie, Around & Around, wanna be your man, live with me, sway, some girls, beast of burden, moonlight mile...

Regarding One more shot, i must admit i was disapointed, but it's difficult to judge given the sound quality.. What I can say is that it Sounds like mixed emotions and even a bit like the live open g versions of SFM...

Overall they sounded great !

Sounds like they might be rehearsing a couple of songs (Sway, Moonlight Mile) where a guest appearance by Mick Taylor would be most effective. The question is: if he is going to guest on these songs, surely at some stage he needs to be asked to the rehearsals?

Thanks for the update, you had us concerned for a bit...abducted by aliens, struck by lightning, chased away by Keith with his Telecaster ;-)

Too bad you were disappointed by OMS, interestingly Uncut also compared it to a mix of ME and SFM but "closer to the former unfortunately". Someone else had mentioned it had a better chorus than D&G...anyway D&G rocks and was terrific live so 1/2 isn't too bad!

Are you going back tomorrow?

Well well well. What a coincidence.

Anyone care to put up a "Why no Dance Little Sister on this tour?" thread?

Elsewhere on this board, in an interview w/ Chuck, he mentions starting "production rehearsals" soon. I'm not really sure what this means, but my guess is with the full cast. (Horns, Lisa, Blondie etc.) and after the core band has narrowed the set list and tightened up the selections. I'd also venture these will take place around London and would be an ideal scenario to have the guests join the rehearsals.

He means they'll be rehearsing on the stage that's being built, getting the lighting togther and so forth, as when they built the Steel Wheels stage inside the Nassau Coluseum prior to SW.

That was just a rumor after Mogador, it didn't make much sense so far away from the first O2 shows, current guess is that they should be around until the 9th or the 10th.

Is Keith going through a Street Fighting Man phase right now? winking smiley This song seems to be in the air and send signals to his antenna quite often recently. The K'naan song, he contributed to and co-produced, uses the basic riff of Street Fighting Man, as far as I can recognize, somehow like a quote (ends abruptly and then doesn't repeat). Does he use this same varied riff on One More Shot again?
