I will buy it, as I´m a Stones fan.
I hope that the 2 songs are OK.
I´m disappointed, though. Is this really their last shot?
Will they close the door with another compilation?

But there is hope:
I hope they do 4 affordable shows end of the year.
I hope they do four good shows.

I hope for a new album in 2013.
I hope for a tour in 2013.

Let's not get dissappointed again with the affordable part of it...

Love the cover art. Satirical pop art at its best. Walton Ford, an American artist, apparently. Very graphically striking and effective. I wonder what Baboon Bro would have said about this?
Anyone knows how he is doing?

I just hope we'll see Mick in that gorilla costume while shouting 'monkey man'. That's the only thing making the idea and the cover worthy.

I die to see the vampire teeth.

Love the cover art, love the title. Love the names of the two new songs, too, I hope they kick ass.
Looking forward to seeing these guys a couple of more times.

Remember Keith told them to get rid of one of the recent stage decorations? He did not know anything about it until the first stadium show in Boston. Then he said get rid of it. I am pretty sure most of the band did not see the gorilla thing, well may be Charlie and may be even Mick, but not Keith. And the tongue is so classic 1971 I can't believe it.

Grrr is a bad tite and it is not even an original idea
Date: September 4, 2012 19:34

It is hard to fathom that he title of a record album could be so bad.
and yet, the Rolling Stones are not even the first artists to come up with this idea.
A quick search on itunes revela that there are 4 diffenent albums with this title.
Wow, that is amazing....
makes me want to growl....
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It does reflect Keith's current ability of speech quite properly though.

Zzz might be a better title. Aside from the two new songs, and the will probably be available for download, one could compile the tracks from the Stone's music in one's collection....

And even in a better mix and mastering, as all of them will be compressed to death.

Going out with a compilation is not going out in a blaze of glory. They want to go out with a bang not a whimper. Try to look at the remainder of this year as the beginning stages of a concert. Mick will work this next ten months or more just like he works his concerts. There will be ebbs and flows but they will close strong with a loud bang that will be heard around the world. And if were lucky they stretch it beyond next summer.

Even Denzil the Dragon has more class than Gregory the Gorilla.

SonicD

Funny. I drew the opposite conclusion. While the title is terrible--why on Earth would they pick a title that's silly to say out loud?--I'm sort of pleased by the tasteless cover art. It seems a throwback to the mid-70s.
The gorilla's name is Gregory? is that only when he is trouble? ... do they usually call him Gregg?

Well da Gorilla did not look like a "Gertrude" or a "Gerald"....
Sounds good to me thumbs up

Such a shame. All they can do is 2 new songs. I mean they are old and washed but even Dylan can manage a new album.

ABJECT FAIL STONES or whoever the people are that took over my favorite band in 1984

And we will all go and cheer the 5-6 musicians behind the scenes that are actually playing instead of KR and RW. we will cheer hearing JJf, BS, Sympathy and the others for the 5000th time. UGGGHHH

We are more pathetic because we buy it.

That album cover actually makes Dirty Work and Steel Wheels look good.

Crackin' observation, why on earth Jagger (who allegedly has some visual artistic appreciation) let this cover outta the cage is frankly inconceivable. At least the 40 Licks cover had class. The marketing department responsible for this need shot, like how is Mr. & Mrs. Greatest Hits Buyers Only gonna connect with the concept this is a GH package. GH as a title is certainly dull, but at least it sends a crystal clear message to the buyer, but "GRRR" like HELLO!

This cover immediately evokes fond memories of the scene in Trading Places where the character Clarence Beeks on the train in the gorilla costume and is first put in the cage on the train with the real gorilla. Any fan who buys this for two lousy new tracks is, metaphorically speaking, gonna feel not too different to how that Clarence Beeks felt in the movie in that scene.

SonicD

My guess is Universal came up with the cover concept.

From a marketing point, it makes sense to have the album available in time for Christmas. On the other hand, if in fact they are marketing to a younger audience, would a 15 year old buy it? My opinion says it won't even make platinum, sales wise.

I'd be surprised if Plundered MY Soul is on the album, it would take away from sales of the Exile re-issue.

As has been previously stated on this board, they are under no contractual agreement with Universal to deliver an album of new material.

My question is, at what point does a band go from relevant to nostalgic?

I'm a bit confused here,,, what they have actually promised? I think the expectations here by some people have gone out of hand.

Absolutely! They have given us so much to be thankful for, but to some it is never enough. Like a lot of children I see these days throwing their tantrums.

I am the only one who is looking forward to the new album and the new gigs? I have friends (including myself) who have plenty of alternate takes of SFTD. Live in Detroit with sound so bad it could have been recorded from the moon. And all kinds of bootlegs with weired takes. So two brand new songs made this year are just fine with me. They will probably do more next year. But I am not greedy. You can't force an old dog into sitting...
