What is a "moran" and how does one go about looking like one?

It would have been more disturbing if Lennon was making these type of remarks at the end of his life. Does everybody on here live a pure fault proof life?

So have I. The problem is that every time McCartney does anything, people seems unable to seperate him (as a person) from his music. Why? Because he is not dead?

What exactly has McCartney done to be faulted?

The Heather Mills thing? That doesn't make him a bad person does it? We've all made relationship mistakes.

Just want to understand what it is that he critisized for? Seems he has lead a pretty decent life to me.

What Lennon did was harmless clowning not automatically making fun of the handicapped yet I am critical of his relationship with Julian.

Personally, I have plenty to deal with regarding my own faults that it leaves little time for judging the parenting or drug habits of musicians. A young man in his 20s is handed the world - literally - and doesn't conduct himself as a perfect father or husband? Not making excuses, just seems it's pretty easy to view it from the comfort of our living rooms and laptops and make judgments.

"it leaves little time for judging the parenting or drug habits of musicians."

You have time for this here at IORR.

"A young man in his 20s is handed the world"

That does explain his harmless clowning for which I give him a break. I don't know how some here convict Lennon of being grossly insensitive to the handicapped based on that video clip. He's on stage in front of cameras and audience. He's in his early 20's. He's an entertainer having harmless fun.

"Not making excuses," but," doesn't conduct himself as a perfect father or husband?"

It sounds like you are indeed allowing excuses.

"just seems it's pretty easy to view it from the comfort of our living rooms and laptops and make judgments."

HaHaHa! That's funny. Lennon admitted he messed up his being a father to Julian who looked just like him. But it was to little too late. Julian still feels let down by it. McCartney apparently knew back then, before John left England, that he was letting his son down.

I still like Lennon, his message.

"Come On"
Well you can almost look at Lennon as being the first 'Monthy Pyton'...If it can help...Humor it's called..."

That was kind of my first impression. Silly Walks. Twits. Village Idiot. I thought Lennon was simply clowning around and was not being grossly insensitive to the less fortunate.

Eric Clapton relates an interesting incident in his autobiography where Lennon was very insulting to an elderly woman who he brought backstage to meet the Beatles at show where the Yardbirds were on the bill with the Beatles.

"My meeting with John was a little different. One night I was on the tube, traveling to Hammersmith for one of the shows, and I got talking to an elderly American woman. She was lost and asking me for directions. She asked me what I did and where I was going, and I told her I was going to play guitar in a concert with the Beatles. "The Beatles?" she said, astonished, and then asked, "Can I come along?"
"If you want to, I'll try and get you in," I replied. When we arrived at the Odeon, I told the stage manager she was a friend of mine, and took her over to the Beatles' dressing room, which was on the same level as the stage. They were getting ready to go on, but they took a moment and were really friendly and polite to her. But when we got to John, and I introduced her, he made a face of mock boredom and started doing wanking movements inside his coat. I was really shocked, and quite offended, because I felt responsible for this harmless little old lady, and in a sense, of course, he was insulting me. I got to know John quite well later in our lives, and we were friends I suppose, but I was always aware that he was capable of doing some pretty weird stuff."

That saddens me. I know he was young, yet I was never so obscenely rude to a granny at that age. Disappointing. It speaks well of the others though and of course Clapton. BTW Clapton and Winwood were truly great together when I saw them. Let's hope they do it again.

Because he was a di!ck! That's pretty simple! The two words "Yoko" and "Ono" will lead you to the same conclusion btw...

What about the famous living persons we speak ill of. They're not "here" (IORR) to defend themselves either!

The only thing his relationship with Yoko can lead you to is the conclusion that we have no control over who we fall in love with. The fact is, we don't.

VERY well put 71Tele. Good to see not all the IORR members with brains have left (even though too many have). Amazing how the board starts sounding like tired old house wives with dead batteries in their vibrators - you have nothing else to THINK about then what John Lennon did/said half a century ago? Especially you akgameboy - what are you? 13 years old? Not over 18, that's for sure.

For all you big mouth criticizers who can judge so quickly and easily why don't you watch/listen to the following clip by someone who been there/done that."NOBODY KNOWS ME AND I DON'T KNOW THEM !!""LIFE'S TOO SHORT" - Bob Dylan So here it is from someone who should know. One of the most honest and angry interviews I've ever seen by one of the most famous people in the world. All you bored Housewives can learn something here (go find something positive to do instead of just JUDGING and POINTING FINGERS) -

BTW, on that "@#$%& THING" a few clips back. Did ANYBODY stop to think that maybe they were making fun of him? You know, the Nazi's did quite a little number on London (and beyond) during WWII. Just a thought for our American friends that are known to lack knowledge of any and all - excluding Jesus - World History (I'm American so I know what I speak of - see it ALL THE TIME - World History? Huh?). Watch the Dylan clip and learn something for a change. BLAH BLAH BLAH

No, of course I'm not 13, but judging from this post, you might be.

Yeah, in the 60's especially Lennon was known for his cutting wit. Mick even called them the four headed monster. Lennon had a lot of emotional issues, mother and father abandoned him, then his mother's death, Mimi's strict somewhat loveless upbringing, the death of his best friend, etc. Yup he had issues. It doesn't condone his bad behavior, but also his pain is most probably what attracted him to peace activism, and social justice causes. I also remembering an interview with Ray Davies who said Lennon was a prick. No doubt about it. For a guy to go to a party with his wife (ono) and then proceed to take a woman to the next room and have loud sex so everyone could hear is an insight into the depths of his self loathing, pain, and confusion. Luckily it seems that he found a semblance of peace with Yoko during his retirement...

You got to admit, this is pretty damn funny. And how about that Ringo? He's really the one who's driving the whole thing along, isn't he?

There's the oft-repeated story that probably has some truth to it, that in his youth Lennon would stand on the rooftop and piss on nuns as they made their way to or from the convent. So this guy has some issues. And everybody knows he could be very cutting--see his comments on Mick circa 1980.

By the way, is the following article offensive? On the surface it is obviously designed to be deliberately offensive, yet, in order to really write this article the author had to have an awareness of the sensitivities involved. Which is more offensive: this, or Lennon's claps and stomps?
