The Canucks always choke in the post-season and I'm counting on them to do it again this year. Otherwise, I'll never hear the end of it here on the west coast.

Sabres have a new Owner!!!!!.....it means nothing when you have a burned out goalie and a 7 million dollar 20 goal strting center. Where's Tellinder and Lydman when you need them.

Larry Quinn is gone!!! great. Now maybe we won't be draft 5" 4" players anymore.

Watch out for Vancouver in the west.

Yes, Roberta Luongo will choke again in the playoffs, and the Sedin sisters will once again let the side down when the big games are on the line.

Yeah they have not had the best of luck in the playoffs so far but the Giants had gone 56 years and they finally pulled it off so anything is possible. Go Sharks!

The Giants? Which ones?

Obviously, San Francisco. The SF Giants won their first World Series in 56 years last fall.

With the Pens banged up the Capitals looking pretty uninspired, the Eastern Conference may be up for grabs. Hopefully, the Flyers will screw up down the stretch.

It's still strange to see division leaders placed above better records. In the East, Pittsburgh is technically in 2nd but since they're not leading the division they're in 4th. That's just STUPID. That has got to change.

Looks like St Louis is out of contention. Was hoping they'd pull it together this year to at least qualify.

Sabres just grabbed one of their forwards

Just got back from the Sabres game today. The Sabres beat Ottawa 6 to 4.

On the way to the game I just heard the sad news that former Buffalo Sabre and member of the French Connection Rick Martin has passed away at age 59. He apparently suffered a heart attack while driving in the Buffalo area (Clarence).

They had a small memorial at the game prior to the start and at the end after the game the players all came out on the ice and raised their sticks and pointed to the banner in the rafters for the fallen retired No. 7 Richard Martin.

A hero in leading Chicago to the Stanley Cup a year ago, Niemi has gone 17-3-3 with a 1.95 goals-against average while starting the Sharks' last 24 games. The GAA is the best of any goalie with at least 16 starts in that span.
This could be a big difference for the Sharks postseason this year. As a Blackhawks fan I fear a sustained run of playoff excellence from our favorite Finn.

Was at the Hawks-Sharks game. Surprised the Sharks would not elevate the physical game. You wanna beat Chicago, forecheck for 3 periods and beat em up. I guess you can't hit what you can't catch... If the Sharks were going to get it done it should have been tonight due to Hawks without Bolland and Campbell. Maybe we see you in the payoffs, I mean playoffs. The Western Conf. is simply going to the last 2-3 games before we know the playoff matchups. LET'S GO HAWKS!

SJ does not have a lock on 3rd place - either LA or Phoenix could take them over with the right amount of wins and losses accordingly. At least they're actually seeded that way points wise and not just because of division winners (unlike in the East where Boston, leading their division, is ahead of Pittsburgh and Tampa with 85 points to their 89 and 87 - the dumbest thing in North American sports). Seemed like a month ago - maybe it was - that the Blackhawks looked like they weren't going to make the playoffs. Now they're in 4th! And playing pretty good hockey.

In the East, hoping Toronto can make it. Philly and Washington can ffffuck off.

I was at the game too. Half of the Sabres don't know who the hell Rick Martin was.
And why are people booing Tim Connely. He's the only player on the team with any talent. Tyler Myers is WAY over rated. time for him to sit out a game or two.

Bad night for the Sharks. NHL hasn't dome them any favors with the schedule. Just finished a 7 game roadie.Got a brief homestand, then back out on the road. Then they make them turn around and go to Dallas tonight...BUt don't worry skippy. When they finish up with a bunch of games at home, not only will they secure the 3rd spot,But they'll take a run at the Wings for the second spot as well.

Yeah, I'm hoping the Leafs can make it, too, skipstone, but last night might have been the nail in the coffin for their playoff hopes unless the Sabres stumble badly down the final stretch. And I've said it before but, first place in the league or not, I'm counting on the Canucks to choke come the second round (or sooner).
