I recently learned that tattoo you and wandering spirit are also overrated

Whoa!!! Reviving a subpar thread from 2009 is totally overrated as far as I'm concerned.

Hilarious. You guys are responding to a post from six years ago and the OP is probably long gone...

I don't see the difference if the post is from 6 years ago, or 10 mins ago, not to mention most are responding to the later comments anyhow ... and the responses aren't necessarily directed at the original poster.

Sticky Fingers is better. Tighter and more focused, and the best songs on SF are better than the best songs on Exile.

What makes EOMS so great is its lack of a huge song like Brown Sugar! It delves into all styles of American music that they Stones can play. Gospel, Country, Blues and Rock N Roll. The crowning achievement of their recording career IMHO!

To me Exile is the most solid piece of music in the history of rock. 18 solid songs. Every song on there is at least good. I will take that as an album over an 11 song album where 3 songs are great, 6 are good, and 3 are ok which is what the other great Stones albums are to me. When I can put on an album to clear the house and listen to 18 at least good songs in a row I am happy.
I notice this again when someone did the song vs song breakdown on the Exile vs
Exile thread and I pretty much rated all of the song vs song as ties.

I'll have to keep giving it a whirl. As I've said I'm new to being heavy into the Stones beyond Hot Rocks and Rewind. Not wanting to sound unoriginal but I feel so far that Sticky Fingers is the Stones album that is classic all the way through with Beggars and Bleed being tied for second. I haven't done all my research yet and am still learning. So I'll keep ya updated. I do like Exile, I just don't find it as consistent as the others I mentioned. It could be down to subjectivity or it could change with a few more listens.

I'm the one who reactivated the thread because it popped up on Google search when I was scrolling for Exile blogs. Seeing as how I was actually a member of this one, I decided to comment, and for and old thread it sure has gotten a lot of additional responses. Maybe Exile will grow on me. As I said I can stream it with headphones off Google play or crank it on my computer speakers which is a boom box with an aux chord running from it to the tower. Maybe I'm just a tad disappointed because of all the hype I had read before listening to it. However, that same hype for Beggars, Bleed, Sticky or Some Girls didn't leave me underwhelmed. For what its worth I have actually purchased individual tracks off of Exile. The obvious Tumbling Dice but also Torn and Frayed, Rip this Joint, Ventilator Blues and Let it Loose. Having those purchased has dropped the price down to the point I might as well just buy the rest of it lol. Maybe if I own it I'll appreciate it more.
