I'm listening to his new CD at work now. Overall, much better than "Magic"
A few letdowns, but that's okay. I just feel sorry for the Sheep who follow his every stage move and audience jesture. What I mean is, if he takes one of the low points of the CD "Queen of the Supermarket" and puts it right before the encore break, I can picture thousands of fans holding up lit cell phones to make them look like store UPC scanners and making the beeping noise simutaniously till Bruce returns on stage.

I'm pretty sure their is little chanc of him doing QOTS. It's been hammered pretty hard by press an fans alike so far. But what I wonder is,if he does Working on a Dream, will he get 15,000 people to whistle alongconfused smiley

In the Southern Regions of the USA it will be a problem. It's hard to whistle without teeth.

he's had little problem making his more 'lightweight' songs work in front of a live audience before. Most of 'Born in the USA' being a prime example.

I always felt "Cover Me" from Born in the USA was a really awful song, yet was played an awful lot. My theory is (from what I observed) that they did some unique lighting during the song and it made people who never been to a live show before go crazy, like they were witnessing a UFO landing. Bruce figured that people like the song and kept it in the set.

As for the Working on a Dream album art, it looks like a print ad for a mattress discount center.

Still listening to it throughout the days, it's pretty good.

Well he definitely showcased Cover Me during the Tunnel of Love tour. If there is a case for the song it would be based on Pattie's howling vocals. It works ok live.

Dalington County, DITD, BUSA are lightweight songs?

Ive always liked "I'm going down" from what I hear Bruce himself doesn't think much of that one.

Bobby Jean is a good example. The studio version is an entirely different song than the live version. However, are the songs on WOAD comparable? The halftime show should be interesting.

I've quickly scanned through this thread and cannot see any UK dates, on the UK website it does mension Dublin on June 11th and also maybe Gladstonebury but that's all.

UK shows should be announced in a few days.

The rumours are for stadium gigs in 2 or 3 cities (Sheffield 25/6 is a strong rumour, a long overdue return to Scotland is likely and theres talk of another Cardiff show) as well as Glastonbury (27/6) and the Hyde Park Calling show on 28/6.

Rumour mill has Bruce headlining the Sunday night at Hyde Park with either McCartney or ACDC topping the bill on the saturday.

I actually like Cover Me. It's an ok song in my book and I wouldn't mind hearing it in Stockholm this summer.

UK dates may be announced on Friday. But this is just a rumour.

Speaking about rumours - is Berlin 22/06 still a rumour or is it dead? (is it likely to happen?) It is probably a question for Gazza, he seems to know always a bit more when it comes to Bruce :-)

the indication seems to be that he'll be in the UK that week.

It was one of 3 German shows originally rumoured and the other 2 were confirmed (albeit for dates 2 weeks later). Doesnt look hopeful which is a pity, as I would have considered it.

Surprising that he hasnt played in that part of Germany in recent years

Now I don't get it - does Max have something against Berlin?
And thank you Gazza for the info - it really is a pitty, I would deffinitely go to Berlin too. Let's hope.

Does Gazza have inside information? he seems to always know if rumours are true or false and whether a date is correct or which songs were played on a certain date back in February 1949. Sorry I don't want to sound like i'm criticising you Gazza but it must be great to have have all that knowledge, how do you do it? I did post a thread a couple of weeks ago asking if anyone had inside knowledge on the Stones, I'm wondering now if you do.

Am I being too nosey now? Yes is the answer!

In fact, neither the Stones nor Springsteen or Dylan plan or announce gigs or decide on a new album. Gazza does. And he lets us know before the press smiling smiley

if you run a website, you do tend to get fed some well informed whispers. More so at tour time of course. That said, very often you hear conflicting info from people who are usually reliable, so theres some margin for inaccuracy. Often its a case of balancing what info you have, taking into account who its from and using common sense.

As far as Springsteen info goes, i've no significant inside info really. Just a case of checking the fan sites and again weighing up what sounds sensible and whether the source has a track record for being informed or just a bullshitter.

the other stuff about factual info re: the Stones history is a different thing entirely. Its just a hobby and the info is on the web and can be found in seconds easily enough.
