Forgive my ignorance, but who exactly is Doug? Has he proven to have access to insider information in the past? Regarding the list of cities he has commented on, is it safe to assume they are likely to happen or should it just be taken with a grain of salt? I mean no disrespect and I'm not doubting him or anything, I'm just curious is all.

Quotebuttons67 if he was still going today, possibly his management team would have locked him in the kitchen a long time ago and told him to start writing his own songs. you wont be able to exist on covers only for much longer elvis. There are more aspects to making music than songwriting. And when you have that kind of charisma, stage presence, and one of the most versatile and recognizab

I love the Stones, but the King is the only one ahead of them for me. Great music, great talent, and a very interesting (although tragic) life. Everyone praises the Sun recordings and his early RCA stuff, but I love the late 60s/early 70s period the most. From Elvis in Memphis may be my favorite album of all time.

QuoteHairball On a similar note, I recall an interview from years ago with Mike Campbell (Tom Petty band) who claimed - to paraphrase - he knows all he needs to know on the guitar, he's learned as much as he could possibly learn, he's as good as he'll ever get, and he doesn't practice at all to learn new things and progress but rather to keep his fingers limber. He said he re

QuoteChester One of most overrated, bland artists in history. Most of his songs are the same song. Tell me that Free Fallin, Running Down a Dream, Yer So Bad and I Won't Back Down are not the same song. I think he wrote those while giving his dog a bath and this guy's in the songwriter's hall of fame? Some early stuff is OK, but it's been played to death. Pretty su

Quotefloodonthepage Mick destroys Elvis.....as a showman, as a musician, and certainly as a songwriter. Elvis is all show and sparkle, that is it. If he resurrected today I wouldn't walk to the end of my block to see him. You don't like Elvis, fair enough. But "all show and sparkle"? Please. I suggest reading Justin's post on the first page; it may be three years old

Quote35love Quotekeefriff99 Quote35love And keefriff99 that was horrible your direct name calling at me. I would never, ever do that to any member here. Hardly name-calling. A sociopath is incapable of feeling empathy for other people. Mocking a good man's (and whatever you think of his music, he is a good man) clinical depression simply because he's wealthy is the textbook de

You're the one making light of serious mental disorders, after all. It's disgusting, really. Depression can happen to anyone, even someone as wealthy and successful as Bruce Springsteen.

I've heard people claim that the song votes are rigged in some way, but is there any actual evidence to support that claim? Heartbreaker was what most people in this thread voted for, but something to keep in mind IORR members aren't the only ones voting. Paint It Black is one of their most famous songs, and many of the more casual fans are more likely to vote for it. I don't reall

Quote71Tele I understand you. I just disagree. When inspiration leaves you, you rely on craft. The Stones have been relying on craft since 1990 at least. They are quite good at their craft, but seem completely devoid of inspiration...Frankly I think some people here are happy to cheer anything they release to the high heavens as long as it has an open-G guitar and a 4/4 beat. I understand th

Quote71Tele QuoteHotStuff92 Can someone explain what people don't like about this song - or YGMR, for that matter? Not their best songs, but still great tunes. I think some people are just biased against anything post-Tattoo You. I feel if they were recorded decades ago and put on Let It Bleed or Sticky Fingers they would be undisputed classics. OK, sure. G&D sounds like the Mick Jagge

Quoteforsure QuoteHotStuff92 So do you think tickets will sell out immediately for these shows? I'm hoping to go to Columbus and I'm worried since I won't be eligible for the pre-sale. Hello IORR! I'm a long-time lurker and a first-time poster. I am hoping to go to the Columbus show, and was curious how long you all think it will be before tickets sell out after they go on sale. I won't be able to purchase during any pre-sales, and was hoping I'll still have a chance to score tickets.
