Glad you like it, I wanted to post this with the thread that has the "Keith goes to the dentist" comic strip but it must be mistitled as I gave up after looking for it for a good 10 minutes...

Talking of Dick Taylor, is it worth catching "The Pretty Things" live these days? I'm asking because they'll be in Paris next year with the infamous Henry Padovani (first guitarist of The Police) opening for them!

LOL ? How about contributing something on topic ? I never got that "don't revive an old thread" crap, it's obviously a lot better to keep a discussion going rather than start from scratch. The problem of this one is the title of course, maybe the OP could kindly clarify it by adding "Doom & Gloom" in the front. Anyway back to discussing D&G and how it came

That's odd that Mick didn't play guitar on the clip of RJ if it was him, is he only allowed by contract to play guitar on the tracks he writes? Anyway I'm reviving this because a recent interview in CR (posted in Stones Connection last week), sheds some new light on D&G... So not only does he play the guitar but apparently the end result is a "deluxe" versio

That can't be right, there must have been some kind of dispute? Anyway back to Taylor's money...if as some claim here Mick and Keith bailed him out in 2002 after he sent a telegram, it's reasonable to think they had no problem paying him well for these four shows. Sure it raised his profile but they got a couple of press releases out of it and several people I know finally broke

And right you are! Thanks! I had a different format in mind but that D&G is indeed on the second page of that article, bottom right.

Yeah same here...I added a few t-shirts to "pad" the shipping cost but they don't seem to have much in stock, their website is clearly not "real time". They got back to me quickly when I inquired though. When I asked if they could substitutes an on stock t-shirt they said they could only remove items from an order...Anyway I'll wait since the lithograph was the reaso

Quotedeardoctortake1 QuoteQuique-stone Quotedeardoctortake1 I recorded the one hour E special before the pay per view, and I have it on DVD, mainly because I was interviewed on Thursday and I am in the Saturday E special!!! That's How Strong would certainly have worked and they really worked hard on the end at the rehearsal so they definitely considered it an option. Worried About You with a demented Mick in the second part could have worked too...I guess they practice songs they like for weeks on end to stay interested and get a feel for each other's playing again as opposed to picking 25 songs and rehear

Yeah SNL with the Foo Fighters was tremendous but honestly who cared apart from the Stones fans and these fans would still take the Stones over that any day so...Mick will probably continue to drag along Keith until he checks himself out, hopefully not before it's too late, but didn't Keith say he wanted to croak on stage ? There might come a point where Mick will decide that Keith c

Quotebillwebster It works very well as a leadoff single but from a new album, I would expect more substance. I mean it's kind of formulaic for a reason and it succeeds at that very well. What I really wonder about though is the Matt Clifford pre-production credit. Does this indicate it's as old as the Goddess in the Doorway sessions? If so, then why did they not use it earlier? What

Thanks, I'd tracked down that article indeed but that's not the one I had in mind. Mick really went into the specifics of how D&G came about, mentioning it was a "deluxe" version of his demo...now I'd heard that before, possibly in a live interview, so it may have been the full version of a previous article, how annoying not to be able to find it!

Yeah, don't they have this old thing about "writing an album as we were just coming off the road and were really tight"? Now...when they actually last did that ? I wonder if it's not a "concept" they peddled for Licks, as in, "yeah no new album but we might make one when we're fresh off the road"...we know how that went. Mick has the songs, but appa

He seems to be game for it so why not, they clearly enjoyed playing with him and know he'll be a draw for extra punters so...the question is whether it's not a bit "humiliating" for him to only be trotted out for one song...ideally he'd play on all the songs of his era.

Yeah, AOM would certainly reach new heights... Quote71Tele Quotegotdablouse I don't think Wyman would have much of a say in the matter anymore, or is he still part owner in one of the Promotone web of companies? Talking of which, was Taylor a full-time member/partner or was he salaried like Ron Wood from 1975 to 1992 (or 1993)? But yes it's hard to imagine Taylor not being involv

So yes at the rehearsals the sound was really very well defined especially compared to the Trabendo, but the O2 was really good too, it

You mean at the Trabendo? It's a bit hard to say as it was deafeningly loud over there and other than his solo in Miss You I don't particularly remember his playing. At the public rehearsal he was also very low (while Keith was very loud, even worryingly loud for a soft song like No Expectations but he nailed it perfectly) and pretty much lost in the mix like at the O2 really. That P
