Quotecasinoboogie Is it not more realistic that this will just be a rebranding exercise/giving the sound quality a bit of a fiddle rather than a full-blown 'Deluxe Edition' set up? Probably!

Perhaps sticky and exile outtakes could be problematic due to when they were written etc!? I wish ABKCO and Universal could get together and give us deluxe editions of the 60's stuff! Man, Deluxe Beggars Banquet, mm, mmmmmm!

Universal Deluxe Editions at the very least usually come as 2 disc sets with previously unreleased material... promising news!

Mick played while Brian was in the band, a couple of examples being Little by Little from the debut album and Little Red Rooster.

Quote1cdog Brian was a multi-instrumentalist. Any opinions on what was his best instrument? Which instrument was he most proficient at playing? Of all the instruments he played I'd say he was best at harmonica, I love Brian's harmonica playing! He reached a far more technical level on harmonica compared to how he played guitar etc.

Quotewith sssoul >> She's probably getting her tv shows and concerts mixed up. << maybe she was confusing one of Brian's odd-shaped guitars with an electric sitar. Ah yeah, that could be it, the Vox teardrop or phantom.

QuoteSleepy City Incidentally I don't think Brian played sitar live, is this correct? Yes, although patti smith has memories of a concert where she saw the stones and Brian was supposedly sitting upfront playing an electric sitar, only problem is she says it was in 1964. She's probably getting her tv shows and concerts mixed up. Anyway, I've seen no pics or anything that sup

Brian was at his most versatile onstage during the 1967 European tour. Guitar, electric dulcimer, harmonica, recorder and organ. The only other additions to these instruments were the occasions where he played percussion onstage throughout 63 - 65. I don't believe he ever played mellotron, sitar or any other instrument live onstage at a rolling stones concert. Have a look in her

Brian is on the cover messing with some morrocan drums, the entire cover seems to be a cut and paste job from a couple of spring 1969 recording sessions.

Yes, the age of consent is different depending on where you are and that throws up a whole host of potential issues. This kind of subject has been talked about over at a led zeppelin forum and over there I said that underage sex is the 'real' darkside of rock & roll that most people would probably not want to know too much about what their heroes have really been up to. QuoteSleepy City There's a BIG difference between under-age CONSENSUAL sex & rape / molestation. Personally I have nothing against anyone who are post-puberty having sex with whoever they want; otherwise I'd have a big problem with Bill Wyman, Jerry Lee Lewis & Jimmy Page...as well as the lyrics Jagger wrote for 'Stray Cat Blues'! We have to admit to ourselves that

That pic is from late 1966 - early 1967 by Michael Cooper. I can't see how that has anything to do with when Margaret Thatcher came in to power in, when was it, 1979!?

Thing is, one of Brian's strong points has clearly deteriorated by 1968, his slide playing sounds a lot more shakey than it was previously, his 1967 - 68 guitar playing has the sound of someone who doesn't play guitar much imo. That is fragility is part of the beauty of No Expectations though.

Quoteneptune I think that's Brian lead guitar on Please Go Home on BTB (late 1966), unless Keith learned how to play Bo Diddley on electric slide. That song doesn't have any slide guitar on it.

If I thought Brian played anything significant on JJF I'd be shouting it from the hills, but there just isn't anything there that really backs up the claim. If Brian had played what amounts to quite an important part, I'm sure it would have been specifically pointed out by a band member or Jimmy Miller etc. But no, as far as I am aware there is only really Bill's book that

Neptune, please understand, the band are miming in all of the promo videos for JJF. Even though they are miming in all versions, Keith is shown to be playing as if he is tuned to open E, where as Brian isn't. You can see them play during the chorus, you just need to watch carefully. There are multiple instruments and vocals on the supposed live take, the other versions feature the stu

QuoteMock Jogger The assumption that several basic tracks from the Beggars/JJF sessions were recorded on the Philips tape- cassette machine of Keith, as His Majesty believes to be the case for JJF and Parachute Woman, is utter nonsense and is originated from an interview joke by Mick Jagger in 1968. Bill in "Stone Alone": "Mick was in the habit of stringing people along: arou

I've always liked Brian raucous voice on those early tracks it makes Walking the Dog more interesting imo. The Mick & Keith vocal blend is a perfect one though! I like the 64 wild live clip of It's Alright, this might seem a strange thing to say, but it kind of puts me off Brian as it seems like he's trying too hard and it seems to really show up Brian's issues about

The singles collection mix of No Expectations is an odd one, it's as if it's only one channel of the stereo mix, rather than a bona fide mono mix. It certainly isn't the same as the mono mix on the original mono Beggars Banquet release! The R&R Circus version features Brian's slide as he played it live, no overdubbing etc.
