Suicide is a death like no other. It's so far removed from death by accident, or disease, or even murder. It's unique and it can be, and often is, devastating to those who are left.....the survivors if you will. It's been my personal experience that you never forget it. In my case, even after 35 years I think about an acquaintance...not every week, not every month, but I still, fr

Very, very sad. L'Wren was a generous and kind person. I was touched by Maria Shriver's tweet regarding this tragedy: Thinking of L'Wren, I'm reminded of this quote: "Be kind; for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." I'm speechless. Well said, and amen to that. Souldog

QuoteMathijs Quoterollmops QuoteMathijs Quoterollmops May be a case can be made to defense Silver Train; Mick and keith must have thought that the song was solid enough to offer it to Johnny Winter. You don't write songs for others and give it to them if you don'y think it's a good song. And Johnny took it and covered it pretty close to the stones 's version which tells us th

QuoteDoomandGloom jeeze ... these are very old people, this is their last world tour, it's impossible what they are doing. Taylor is there partly for insurance, in case Keith can't finish a night or needs a rest for a tune or two, Taylor will retain credibility on stage. I am sure they are happy to help him get some money in the bank but the creative days are behind them and this is a

QuoteMathijs Silver Train is nothing more than an outtake. Mathijs I'll go out on limb here and say that it is highly improbable that The Stones would choose to produce an official promotional video of an outtake

Loved it from the first. In those days it was all about the song, the hit single, not the band. When I was 10 years old, my baby sitter gave me her copy of Ruby Tuesday because I wouldn't quit playing her 45 when she stayed over with us. Then when I was 12, I bought the Honky Tonk Women single from our local department store because I loved it. Then when I looked at my entire 45 RPM coll

One sided seven inch, 33 1/3 "Radio Spots" from the, at the time, upcoming 1978 film "Coming Home". Directed by our friend Hal Ashby. Aside from "Bookends" by Simon & Garfunkel, edited versions of the Abkco controlled "No Expectations", "Sympathy For The Devil", and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" are served up. ]

Here is a shot of my one-sided "Dance Little Sister" test press from the US. I have quite a few test pressings of 45's.....most of them subsequently issued on the "Rolling Stones Records" label. This was the B-side of the 1974 USA top twenty cover hit "Ain't Too Proud To Beg". ]

A shot of some of the souvenirs I purchased during the 1978 tour. I saw 4 shows on that tour.....I know I purchased the "tux" jacket outside the Buffalo, NY, concert. The jacket was produced by "after six formals", which I'm pretty sure was the manufacturer of the jacket Mick sported that tour. It was being sold after the show out of a Ryder rental truck by a couple ra

Here's another item acquired from legendary engineer, Eddie Kramer. I could be wrong, I think this was issued to Eddie for the Cleveland, Ohio, June 14, 1975 show that Eddie recorded. Signed by Peter Rudge. Coincidently, my first Stones show....and after over 100 Stones shows, still my favorite. ]

Here is a 10 inch test pressing that I obtained several years ago from an estate sale of some of Eddie Kramer's stuff. The writing seen (in Eddie's hand) is on the front of the blank white 10" cover the record is resting on in this photo. The label reads: 33 1/3 RPM Produced by 3 madmen & 1 BIRD Any guess's as to who these "madmen" are? Mick, Keith, Edd

Quotekpl....."satisfaction"with an accoustic guitar?!... Come on now, the coolest part of the original single is the acoustic guitar. They asked Taylor to do the best part of that song. People will gripe about darn near everything. Ha! It's always about the nuances....and The Stones are the absolute best at nuance.

QuoteGazzaThere was footage shot in the empty Wembley Stadium too, in the run up to the shows there that ended the tour. The band had no shows between 18th and 24th August. Gazza is correct. They shot footage of Mick miming (dancing/moving) to "2000 Light Years" and Keith doing "Happy".....Wembley, empty stadium, late at night, with the music pumped through the PA. I was th

Quoteflacnvinyl .....Our favorite band tosses aside real fans in favor of playing to disinterested wealthy onlookers. I have a great job and a lot of money and I'm a real fan. I'm thinking the Stones are now in favor of just playing to interested real fans who have money.....as opposed to interested real fans who don't have any money. The good news is that's their choice..

Yes, I miss JC. The access he afforded me nearly 32 years ago was key to my relationships with the band and their support staff to this day. I will be forever indebted. I'll never forget the time he needed to run a couple of errands and he lacked a vehicle. I offered to drive him, he accepted, and the next thing I knew I was driving JC all over the place one afternoon. That was in th

QuoteDoomandGloom It's because of Miss You that Stones fans think another hit is always possible. When it came out no one expected them to be timely again, Some Girls was great. Precisely. If you were a Stones fan in early 1978, you knew the odds were stacked against them. They hadn't had a smash hit since Angie, Keith was heading to the slammer for all we knew, Punk and Disco and

Quote taken from that wonderful and informative website "earlyhendrix": "There has been discussion for years about whether Hendrix plays on the track "Mercy, Mercy" or not. Jimi himself told in at least one interview that he did a recording session with Steve Cropper, and showed him how he played "Mercy, Mercy". This has been confirmed by Steve Cropper. G
