The Mersey's "Sorrow" was a cover of The McCoys version of the song their producers wrote (Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein, and Richard Gottehrer) It was the B-sde of The McCoys smash hit "Hang On Sloopy".....which was a cover of The Vibrations R&B original hit "My Girl Sloopy" on Atlantic. "My Girl Sloopy" was written by Bertrand Russel (Bert Burns

Well, since no one's mentioned it..... "Stoned" (Nanker, Phelge) is a straight rip of Booker T. & The MG's "Green Onions" (Cropper, Jones, Steinberg, Jackson). I always thought it was super groovy that these guys did a cover of an early Stax hit. A few months later they did "Walking The Dog", of course, another Stax hit. I also thought it was cool t

QuoteBliss So...you think Prince Rupert, with his three piece bespoke Savile Row suits, his gold pince-nez, his Oxford education, background in elite merchant banking, and his aristocratic clientele is a natural choice and logical member of the Rolling Stones inner circle, circa 1969? Yes, obviously. Yes. A perfect choice. And thanks go to Mick on that one. Without the Prince straightening

Quotestonesrule Prince Rupert Lowenstein brought intelligence and experience and honesty regarding money into the Stones camp. Don't see him as "incongruous,"... Thank you, spot on.

Quotejosepi QuoteR the second worst i ever saw was opening night Philadelphia 1981. Cleve 78 was FAR worse. FAR. Funny, I was at both those shows. Philly 81 was bad, big time. Talk about bad weather. I've seen these guys over 100 times. Me and my buddies still talk about how great that 78 Cleveland show was. Some Girls had been out just a couple of weeks and they played, what, about half

My pleasure, schillid. I remember reading Andy's comments on Jagger's handwriting....I'd forgotten they were sourced from his diary. Thanks schillid for posting the 10 Jagger portraits. The ninth one shown is still my favorite. But it still breaks my heart when I see it. I had an original in my hand in the summer of 1978. It was a gallery in the Village, I still have the co

Quoteschillid Quotedjango Warhol said something like that the Stones received a piece of art from him but Jagger destroyed it with his writing on the front cover. Does anyone know the source of the exact quote from Warhol? Got it, read the quote from his diary in the text below: ".....Warhol almost systematically made use of both the front and the back of the album. For the first time,

Very cool, Mick is back on the charts and he turns 68 years old tomorrow. Now there's something I wouldn't have thought would happen back in 1969 when I bought Through The Past, Darkly....that is, Mick Jagger having a brand new hit single in 2011. What a great ride it's been. I continue to root for the home team and they continue to deliver. Even as they approach 70 years old. Fr

Of course I would like a theater tour filled with all of my favorite songs, some rarely, if ever, performed live. And new stuff. Bring on the new stuff! I just think I come at all of this from a different perspective. I wa

Well, yes I did, thank you, although perhaps I plagarized without being aware of it(?) Actually I had to replace "@#$%&" with "clowns" because when I initially wrote "@#$%&" it came out as "%@#&" so I replaced it with "clowns", not my first choice.

I like that Midnight Rambler joint. Great pic. Anyway, my bowling league team name was The Bowling Stones way back when. We had the shirts with the logo and everything. Pretty corny and lame, I know, but we had fun. And no, I didn't pay any licensing fees for the use of the tongue logo.
