After further review, the Ass Blaster Complete BBC Sessions appears to be a slightly modified and rearranged copy of DAC-130: Beat Beat Beat at the Beep. If you already have that, you probably don't need this. But I am glad to be able to compare; thanks for sharing. Update: Sounds like Ass Blaster used different sources or edits for the rebroadcast sources, but the quality is about th

Quotethkbeercan Thanks for the response. Yes, it is interesting. Also interesting is the fact that "Love In Vain" from Baltimore and "Street Fighting Man' from MSG are also available on boots in very good mixes/soundboard quality and are different from the 'Ya-Ya's" mixes. These 3 songs (GS, LIV, and SFM) are all featured in the film Gimme Shelter and are NOT

You have all that I'm aware of except for the little snippet of "Street Fighting Man" in the Gimme Shelter film. It's interesting to me that the complete "Gimme Shelter" on A Shot of Salvation is a different source than the raw soundboards such as "Love in Vain." It's apparently a rough mix of the film version; I spliced the two together for my enj

LiveR Than You’ll Ever Be -------------------- LiveR Than You’ll Ever Be -------------------- Chris was tall, lean, had black wavy hair that hit his shoulders, didn’t do drugs, but moved as if he’d been popping bennies. He was Dub’s friend and he was always around. He liked Dylan, but was passionate about the Rolling Stones. Dub liked them too. Me, I was a Beatles guy, but Chris was always

^^^Get the watchit low generation version. It has the missing parts patched in from an alternate source. Don't believe the hype on Tarantura, it isn't that good. The VGP version is better if you can't find the watchit version, but doesn't have the patches. Watchit info: This is the very well known audience recording of the Rolling Stones at their second show in Oaklan

Try to track down low generation non bootleg sources for both shows. Obviously TMOQ had no noise reduction technology in 1970 and the original "Liver Than" LP sounds great. The LP is all from the 2nd show, except the first few seconds are from the first show: Mick says, "Can you hear that? Keith, play a bit." This was after the PA system blew out and Mick wasn't su

This is a different recording to the one on all the previous boots. It's a little better. Unfortunately the tape recorder's batteries start to run down and it's incomplete.

It's only one channel of the stereo recording. As I recall, it's the Mick T. channel as opposed to the Keith channel. Has RS-546 written in the dead wax. Stereo LPs are far more common and say RS-546 REI. "Happy Birthday Mick" has a pretty cool cover with the cartoon character Nancy holding a birthday cake. The candles are little rockets that say TNT on them.

QuoteSilver Dagger The original Mick's Birthday was apparently a radio broadcast - from All Down The Line to Jumping Jack Flash. Don't think so. The story I heard is someone stole the tape the Stones were recording for themselves at the soundboard. That got pressed into the TMOQ bootleg Welcome to New York. The tape has never circulated; the LP is the only source.

QuoteRokyfan The second part of the show circulated on bootlegs since the days of records. There was a popular boot in which Taylor was prominent and Keith barely audible, then better stereo versions of the second part surfaced. (this is the Mick birthday show obviously, the finale of the 72 tour). The first part of the show you have was taped by a friend of mine. he was ejected from the gar

Wow! Are these straight bootleg copies? I haven't compared. The bad quality live songs sound like Paris 3/29/66 but I didn't compare to be sure.

Indeed. There was no way to repair the missing pieces because they weren't on the tape. They couldn't be repaired until the alternate recording turned up.

QuoteRank Stranger sanQ, the intro to "Stray Cat Blues" has been shortened on some CD releases, right now I can't remember on which CDs the intro was cut; you'll have to do some research, I'm afraid. The German pressing of the SACD has the shortened intro to "Stray Cat Blues." The Japan pressing is correct. I didn't realize it until I read about it s

LiveatHydePark, We may have a match here! Too bad the vocals are so low at the beginning and the recording is so bad; it's really hard to tell. The vocal markers at the end seem to match. Is there any way to confirm what show this is by comparing other songs? At this point I'm thinking 10/13/73 could be the date. Thanks for your help.

The All Sold Out CD release has the same comments as the LP since they are from the same broadcast. The ASO release is from tape, not vinyl. Can anyone confirm the interviews are with Jo Bergman and a Granada TV producer?

Rank Stranger, Thanks again for kindly sharing your files in an effort to solve this minor mystery. The Brown Sugars from Rattlesnake's "Brussels Affair Definitive Edition" and Sister Morphine's "Timeless: Europe '73" are identical and the version I'm trying to identify. From your posting of the three different shows, Brown Sugar does not match ei

Brown Sugar from all three Rotterdam shows from various boots and silkcut1978_ here in flac: Thanks much for those versions to compare to what I have. None of them match, so I don't think the mystery Brown Sugar broadcast is from Rotterdam.

QuoteBeforeTheyMakeMeRun A full-length recording (audience or soundboard) has never surfaced of the second Brussels show...'Brown Sugar', 'Midnight Rambler', and 'Street Fighting Man' have never surfaced. I have always wondered if the Brown Sugar first broadcast 11/20/88, attributed to either Rotterdam 10/14 (Chris M. and others) or London 9/9 (Nico Z.), is actually

Before making a final decision on what's best, I suggest anyone check out VGP-260, "Philadelphia Special" 2006 remaster for the rough SB mixes, and VGP-243, "Keep Your Motor Runnin'" for the remixes. VGP used great sources and tasteful remastering. VGP-260 sounds much better than the old Swingin' Pig releases. They aren't complete; these downloads have s
