It doesn't appear to be available any more on Google Play Music. I'm in the USA, east coast, and it was available early this morning. You can see it, but there's no obvious way to buy it now. I guess Google was told to stop selling it ahead of the release date.

I'm looking forward to this release but disappointed that it doesn't have the fantastic Bitch and Brown Sugar from the rehearsals, as heard on VGP-030, "The Lost Marquee Tapes." I used to have them on a VHS tape but not anymore. Anyone here have them? They have a real audience, unlike the dubbed in footage in the final product. Link to VGP-030 is here: 1971 Tour Archive

I am 99.9% sure that blog claim is wrong. The TMOQ release is the original. In fact, it was their first release with a William Stout cover. The album pictured in the blog is a later copy.

Quotevox12string OK, here's a bit of the history of the evening show. A couple of years ago some film of the show was converted to video & cobbled together with six tracks of the show with not much regard to syncing properly. This DVD was posted here at the time & freely available. DAC then took those six tracks & released them, along with the two 1969 shows from Champaign, as

For "Trident Mixes," the original vinyl is best as LiveAtHidepark pointed out. Since that's out of print for ~35 years, try to track down the Living Legend CD which is dubbed from it. DAC-052 sucks. They used some type of vinyl source, and people were talking too close to the record player. The cartridge picked up their voices in the background! Really unbelievable.

I wasn't trying to be critical of your previous audio conversion. VOBs generally have lossy ac3 audio although occasionally they have lossless LPCM. Although this conversion has fewer steps, the end result is probably the same as the first one. You can check the VOB's audio and video formats with the freeware program MediaInfo .

Thanks for sharing. For those of you that don't know, the AC3 audio format on DVDs is lossy, like an mp3 file. It throws away audio data to reduce file size, which can never be recovered. Converting it to wav or FLAC just makes the file larger, it doesn't get the quality back. That said, it probably makes sense to share this in FLAC since AC3 is not a common audio-only format. Th

Interesting. Thanks for checking. Edit: I should add that my LP of "The Stars..." was the 1980s reissue. Possibly the 1970s originals were different; I never had one.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see something different. Agree that this is definitely the same recording as the DAC release and different to the OBR release. There is also a supposed low gen version of the DAC recording but this is better than that or DAC. I think DAC overdid it with their EQ but they undoubtedly had a worse generation recording to work with. I like the live versions of some

Yes, almost definitely the CBM vinyl is a different audience recording than the Gold Standard CD audience recording. Both have the vocals too loud compared to the rest of the band. The CBM recording ends with Honky Tonk Woman, missing the last three songs. Since the other recordings have cuts or gaps the concert is still incomplete although I don't think too much is missing.

There is also this version, previously available on HungerCity: Over the years there have been a number of different releases of the famous Rolling Stones concert at the Altamont Speedway, at the conclusion of their 1969 US tour. As documented in the film "Gimme Shelter," there were numerous problems before and during the concert. I have attempted to assemble a complete version of

Great footage and performance. Pretty sure the end of the video where Mick throws stuff into the crowd is actually from Street Fighting Man. He is nowhere near the mic for the "whoo" at 2:57.

I am very, very familiar with the watchit version of Charlotte '72 and was pleasantly surprised by the DAC version. I think it's a little better. Thanks for sharing it. One demerit to the DAC version for its sloppy indexing.

Thanks for posting. WeTransfer is great. This is not a soundboard, for anyone wondering. Actually a pretty average audience recording.

I listened to the sample of Roll Over Beethoven from Paris 1970. Thanks Erik. Not impressed with the sound. This is not an upgrade, just different EQ which I don't like. It sounds like a Sister Morphine release and I don't mean that as a compliment.

The one to compare against this source is not VGP-045 Greatest Dane, it's DAC-084, Danish Brew. I am sure DAC used this new source, and they did a good job with it IMHO.

Sorry, I meant to say that years ago I did compare the CDR of the "Comeback to England" OG LP against the "Come Back London" CD on the Alley Cat label and they were basically the same quality. The LP was also a bad pressing. It's odd how both are a combination of 9/8/73 2nd show and 9/9/73.

QuoteBritney Quotedph I was able to obtain a CDR copy of the "Comeback to England" LP years ago. It was just ok quality, from the same recordings available on CDs at the time, possibly "Come Back London." I can't be sure now because I threw out the CDR after comparing. "Live at Hidepark" I've never heard but agree that its value is only due to its rari

10 years ago I might have bought these. Now, no. I am dubious of the claims for American Exile. It's unlikely to be an upgrade over the existing torrents considering that they are also from first generation sources. I highly doubt the claimed 24/96 mastering will help sound quality. "Sweet Black Angel" is not available from a soundboard source, only an audience source (let m

Thanks for the WT upload. Downloads really quickly. For anyone wondering about the small file sizes, here's the deal: 1) DAC has made the left and right channels identical on both CDs. That makes files considerably smaller when they are compressed (FLAC, etc.). 2) For the Bern show, as already noted, DAC chopped off the high frequencies above ~7kHz. That means less data and a smalle
