Sac-religious I know, but I really despise this album. The Billy Preston era was a lowpoint.

I love this recording. The rawest sounding of 72/73. Has a real Leeds feel to it like they are in your living room.

I had always suspected that Axl was trying to clone the 89 Stones tour setup, which is a real shame. I saw them multiple times from 88 through 93, and could not believe how with each show they became even more bloated. When Use Your Illusion came out, I was really into it. In hindsight, it is so dated and mostly garbage. Big overdone sound, big production. The songs mostly aren't s

Man, Mick was NOT pleased with the Stones question. That day marked the single lowest point in the history of the Rolling Stones in my opinion.

I would definitely go see a tour with the original line-up. I was a really big GnR fan early on and through the very early stages of the Use Your Illusion tour. I thought the evolution (or de-evolution) of the band through that tour was sad, with the constant additon of back-up musicians.

QuoteOlly QuoteKennedy ...I remember being pleasantly shocked when the Stripped special aired in late 95 how different they sounded versus just one year prior. My suspicions were confirmed when they returned to the US in 97. Just a completely different vibe than 89 & 94. Interesting. I am far too young to have seen any of the Voodoo Lounge shows, although I am surprised that the sound w

QuoteOlly QuoteKennedy ...I believe it wasn’t until 95 when they started doing the Stripped shows when they finally became a cohesive “band” again, not reliant on Chuck. I would identify the date for this cohesion as 1993, with the shows of 1994 beginning the memorable decade-long high period. I respectfully disagree. I saw a number of the 94 shows here in the US, and I left each of them

Further to the point.... I find the 89/90 shows unlistenable and uunwatchable. Between the sterile thin sound and Mick's calculated moves, it was "The Stones on Ice" -- lifting Pete Townsend's description of The Who's 89 tour, which I also agree with.

Quotevudicus It was just a sign of the Stones keeping up with modern trends. Plenty of keyboards and polished sounds overall. It might have seemed like a good idea at the time but those tours and "Steel Wheels" sound incredibly dated now. It's a shame because the playing is very good indeed. Plus it was the last tour with Wyman. The Voodoo Lounge tour was a big improvement b

I returned to vinyl a little over a year ago. I am in heaven. Not only listening to my old collection, and enjoying that sound I remember growing up, but the latest trend of 180-200 gram vinyl reissues. Pure bliss.

QuoteDeltics QuoteDGA35 I can't believe how popular Don't Stop Believing got years after its release in the early 80's. I'm not sure what the actual reason was. I know the Whitesox used that as their theme song when they won the World Series in the mid 2000's and it was also performed on Glee. When I first saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought of Stairway

I love everything about the 81 tour. Everything. It was my very first show, so I'm sentimental about it I guess. However, Let's Spend the Night Together is a horrible hatchet job.

My list: 1969 - surely there has to be a complete professionally recorded show somewhere without all the Ya-Yas overdubs. 1970 - anything complete and professional 1971 - complete Roundhouse 1972 - Philly Special 1976 - Paris 1976 - Knebworth 1977 - El Mocambo 1982 - Leeds I know there has been rumor floating around of a box set of all the Stripped club shows. Of course

Quoterelms QuotePittsburghNick80 Quoterelms Mick, or his joke writer, seem to has a bone to pick with Tom Brady, he keeps going back to that deflated balls issue, oddly out of context going back to it. To be fair, you couldn't name a sports personality more hated in Buffalo than Tom Brady. Brady also made a disparaging remark about the city in general and Buffalo hotels and the views affo

The No Security intro was hands down my favorite. The intensity building in the video matched the intensity of finally seeing them in an arena again. Plus, JJF as an opener was very fresh in 99, as it had been close to 30 years since they last opened with it.

Promoters have to be looking at the success of the current tour and waving big bucks to get them back in the US asap. Let's face it, even many of us are surprised at how successful this tour has been.

For the life of me, I can't find it here or on Stonesdoug, but someone was reporting that the South America leg was canceled in favor of more US dates in Nov/Dec this year back in arenas. I hope that is true, and would make a lot of sense given how strongly this current leg has been received.
