Yeah, Jimi almost always tossed in the "I Feel Fine" riff during live versions of Hey Joe. Some of his extended solos drew in other melodies and riffs. I always wondered why he threw in the Satisfaction riff seemingly out of nowhere during the Randall's Island show -- who knows what passed through his head or what he saw in the crowd that made him riff on that briefly. Jimi was lik

I saw Ray & Robby with Ian in 2003. I'm glad I got to see them, but it was a little hokey -- Ray rambling on & on, preaching his Gospel According to St. Jimbo, and the high-fiving bros around me going on about how the band was as good as they were in 1968 (sound familiar?). Ray was playing a very modern-sounding keyboard. Bad move - should've toured with a Vox Continental.

Oh dear. It appears that the driver fled the scene. Maybe he/she parked and walked back. Awful. Hope everyone's alright but that's pretty idiotic pedestrian behavior.

For me it has to be Sway - Charlie is so in the pocket on this one. I also love his drumming on Moonlight Mile, great work with the mallets.

Watched it over the weekend and was blown away by the Jones era footage. The clip with the fans onstage is amazing. I got a laugh out of the girl crowding Charlie while he was trying to play, and the way Brian got mobbed and had to flee was a bit scary. The sound quality is tops. Listen to Charlie's drums on the T.A.M.I. clip. Outstanding.

Great pic, thanks for sharing. Wonder what song they're doing here. Bill & Brian on harmony. Maybe "You Better Move On"...?

QuoteJesse1960 As an aside, the lack of a bass caused them to sound a bit thin live. I know Manzarek played the foot pedal bass. Not the same effect. Actually, Ray played the bass parts with his left hand, on a Fender Rhodes piano bass. He was a pretty amazing musician!

Completely wrong drum kit, and the bass amp looks a little suspicious as well. Not nit-picking here. Looks like a great set list, and probably a cool show, but details like this really matter. If you're gonna be Ringo in a tribute band, you better be behind a Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl kit.

Pittsburgh was an amazing show. I had a VHS boot of the show -- lost it, but would love to see the video again.

Mike Nesmith posts some wonderfully philosophical ramblings. James Williamson (Stooges) posts alot, and seems like a very down to earth guy.

The sunburst Les Paul with the Bigsby. Amazing history, and it's so cool that it ended up back in the band when Mick T. joined.

He really grooves on "Sway" and pretty much the entire Ya-Ya's LP. I also love his playing on Aftermath & Between the Buttons. His style sure has changed over the decades.

Impossible to know what would have become of Brian. He could have straightened himself out, gotten some help, and had a great life. He may also have become a casualty and ended up a legendary recluse like Syd Barrett.

Does anyone know who this poor fellow is/was? I think others here have identified the guy next to him as George Christie. This guy doesn't appear to be wearing colors. Maybe a prospect hanging out with the Angels? A buddy & I used to watch this movie and he'd always laugh and say "There's NO WAY that guy is still alive now."

I'd love the Last Time, but they would never open or close a show with that one nowadays, as it would be more fodder for the writers.

Cool that they did it, but there are far cooler bluesy songs from the back catalogue that they could dust off for this type of guest appearance. "Down Home Girl" immediately comes to mind.

Can we expect a mention of Brian & Stu? No need to dust off the Shelley - just a few words during the show would be great. Jagger could probably still fit into the Hyde Park dress that he borrowed from Sammy Davis, Jr.

This would be a wonderful song for them to play with Mick Taylor. I believe they only did this live once; does anyone know for certain? They should do it at Hyde Park (With Bill! Doubt it.). I'm sure that July 1969 indeed seems about 100 years ago.

I'd LOVE to hear them do a bluesy album, recorded on ANALOG gear with minimal overdubs, produced by someone like Rick Rubin or Jack White, with Wyman & Taylor participating.
