The Beatles go with breakfast. It's a tradition in radio.

While perusing my 1965 diary for this thread, I came across the following entry for November 8th--it was just headed "Stones on news!!", and among other things it noted that Brian was asked why Stones fans were more frenzied than Beatles fans, and he said "Kids go to see the Beatles because they're a phenomenon of our age group, but they come to see us to have a real old, you know, a real old rave-up." You'll be interested to hear that his hair was very clean and shiny when he said this. Also Mick was asked if the Stones were "polished" and he said that he didn't think they were polished in the showbiz sense of the word because he didn't like that sense of the word. I think his conclusion was that they WERE polished. Just not in the showbiz sense of the word. grinning smiley

^ Obviously, the poster is no longer able to enjoy the explosive spontaneity of rock and roll as delivered by the Stones of 1969. What has changed in his life leading up to "the first time in many years" that causes him to disown their classic era in such a manner? I wonder if he now views the Stones and rock and roll in general as... childish. smiling smiley

It's amazing what calumnies always seem to follow "I love the Stones/Keith/Mick/Charlie/Ronnie/Mick T/Bill/Brian BUT . . . ".

288 GBP, not for the faint hearted.

Looks great though!

WOW....remastered from the analogue tapes, unlike the MONO CD Box:

The Beatles in mono: This is how most listeners first heard the group in the 1960s, when mono was the predominant audio format. Up until 1968, each Beatles album was given a unique mono and stereo mix, but the group always regarded the mono as primary. On September 8 (September 9 in North America), The Beatles' nine U.K. albums, the American-compiled Magical Mystery Tour, and the Mono Masters collection of non-album tracks will be released in mono on 180-gram vinyl LPs with faithfully replicated artwork. Newly mastered from the analogue master tapes, each album will be available both individually and within a lavish, limited 14-LP boxed edition, The Beatles In Mono, which also includes a 108-page hardbound book.

In an audiophile-minded undertaking, The Beatles' acclaimed mono albums have been newly mastered for vinyl from quarter-inch master tapes at Abbey Road Studios by GRAMMY-winning engineer Sean Magee and GRAMMY-winning mastering supervisor Steve Berkowitz. While The Beatles In Mono CD boxed set released in 2009 was created from digital remasters, for this new vinyl project, Magee and Berkowitz cut the records without using any digital technology. Instead, they employed the same procedures used in the 1960s, guided by the original albums and by detailed transfer notes made by the original cutting engineers.

Working in the same room at Abbey Road where most of The Beatles' albums were initially cut, the pair first dedicated weeks to concentrated listening, fastidiously comparing the master tapes with first pressings of the mono records made in the 1960s. Using a rigorously tested Studer A80 machine to play back the precious tapes, the new vinyl was cut on a 1980s-era VMS80 lathe.

Manufactured for the world at Optimal Media in Germany, The Beatles' albums are presented in their original glory, both sonically and in their packaging. The boxed collection's exclusive 12-inch by 12-inch hardbound book features new essays and a detailed history of the mastering process by award-winning radio producer and author Kevin Howlett. The book is illustrated with many rare studio photos of The Beatles, fascinating archive documents, and articles and advertisements sourced from 1960s publications.

Nice that they will also be available individually.
I bought the Mono box cd set several years ago, and it is supreme.
Had I known they would eventually come out with this vinyl set I might have waited, but oh well....here we go again...$$$... eye rolling smiley

I know how you feel, but on the other hand, it is nice to have digital versions of the same songs. Perhaps if they offered 'download' versions of the vinyl version, the CD Mono box would be rendered redundant.

Still, mini versions of the albums are cool too.

Totally interested in the mono White Album. I've always felt like the mono version of it was a little "crazier" than the stereo mix, a little more wild and wooly, with more of that authentic, raw, let-it-all-hang-out late Sixties vibe going on. The stereo version of the White Album is sorta tame by comparison.

Yes all analogue!

When you consider what mint originals are going for this is not a bad deal and still less than the CSNY 1974 vinyl! Great that they are making them available individually as well.

This is the track listing for the 3 lp mono masters

1. Love Me Do (Original Single Version)
2. From Me To You
3. Thank You Girl
4. She Loves You
5. I'll Get You
6. I Want To Hold Your Hand
7. This Boy
8. Kom, Gib Mir Deine Hand
9. Sie Liebt Dich
10. Long Tall Sally
11. Call Your Name
12. Slow Down
13. Matchbox
14. I Feel Fine
15. She's a Woman
16. Bad Boy
17. Yes It Is
18. I'm Down
19. Day Tripper
20. We Can Work It Out
21. Paperback Writer
22. Rain
23. Lady Madonna
24. The Inner Light
25. Hey Jude
26. Revolution
27. Only a Northern Song
28. All Together Now
29. Hey Bulldog
30. It's All Too Much
31. Get Back (with Billy Preston)

The UK list price is 288 GBP.

that would be around $500, but I recall when the Stereo box was released, it started at 399 GBP in the UK, but $399 in US. Not sure why the discrepancy.

It subsequently dropped in price and at one point you could get it for $189 from amazon.ca.

Pays to be patient.

update on Beatles Mono Vinyl Box...cheapest I've seen on pre-order worldwide is on amazon.ca for $356, still pretty pricey but better than the alternatives:

Completely wrong drum kit, and the bass amp looks a little suspicious as well. Not nit-picking here. Looks like a great set list, and probably a cool show, but details like this really matter. If you're gonna be Ringo in a tribute band, you better be behind a Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl kit.

Do they still make the Rickenbacker 12-string in that finish? Pretty cool.

I think the MONO CD's are a sound investment....they sound great...it's good to have it in digital format.

Something like this deserved to be bought twice!
