Not sure about Keith's sound, but you can definitely get a nice Steve Cropper sound out of an Esquire.

Yeah, nice work on Moonlight Mile, too. And doesn't he play on Fingerprint File? He's not what I'd call a good guitarist, but he has kind of a neat rhythm guitar style.

This album took a while to grow on me, but I am really digging it now. It's a unique Stones album and it seems like a logical follow-up to Aftermath. Anyone else here have a soft spot for songs like Cool, Calm, Collected and Who's Been Sleeping Here?

Sorry for the delay in posting this. Unfortunately CDR disc-rot has made a liar out of me. I can only post the first 5 tracks. Sorry...but enjoy these:

He plays on a version of Satisfaction that was recorded when he was a member of Curtis Knight & the Squires (1966). When the Experience appeared on "It Must Be Dusty," Hendrix dedicated "Stone Free" to Brian Jones, and said "Get Off My Cloud, baby" before launching into the guitar solo.

I'll dig it out & post it from home later or tomorrow. Did you guys notice the beginning of "Voodoo Child"? Jimi makes his guitar say "@#$%& you, @#$%&!"

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - LA Forum April 26, 1969 I'm missing "Foxy Lady" here. I have it on another disc & can post it if anyone needs it. Great sound - enjoy!

Sounds like such a small club, almost like little jazz supper club atmosphere. Considering Jimi's "Toast of London" status in early '67, I imagine that a Stone or 2 may have been in the audience. Jagger & Brian Jones in particular were very enthusiastic about Hendrix.

Here's an audience recording of the Jimi Hendrix Experience live at the Flamingo Club - Feb. 4, 1967. A very cool set list...I believe there are only 2 known versions of "Have Mercy," and "Can You See Me" doesn't turn up on too many set-lists either. This recording sounds LOUD!

I really like the live version that they played on Sullivan in 1966. There's a color clip of this performance in the 25 X 5 documentary. It's rather tame when compared to the MSG & later versions, but it has this great nervous energy that I love. Plus the band looks great and even Brian still looked vibrant (in spite of the ever-present eye-baggage). Too bad Keith's guitar

That would be me, I think. I'm working on uploading a Flamingo Club show from February '67. Yes, the Jimi Hendrix Experience in their pre-Monterey "Swinging London" club days.

Hi Koen, AFAIK, the Jimi Hendrix Concerts CD/LP is out of print. I was lucky to get a new CD copy of it a few years ago. Copies pop up on ebay from time to time.

I listen to Hendrix every day. I drove my parents & sisters crazy when I was a kid, and now I drive my wife crazy. And now I'm probably driving alot of you crazy (see the Hot Stuff forum). Regarding All Along the Watchtower, the takes w/ Brian Jones on piano still exist. His piano efforts were abandoned before Jimi, Mitch, and Dave Mason cut the master take. Mitch Mitchell stated

Yeah, Stockholm's an interesting listen. Unfortunately the sound isn't great (better than Berlin though IMHO), and Hendrix sounds kind of pissed off and possibly drunk during the concert. The 9/2 Arhus Denmark concert was one of the low points of his career...it's painful and sad to listen to. Oddly, the 9/3 Copenhagen show is quite inspired and Hendrix sounds very "into it

Hmm, maybe...but to my ears, it sounds like he's just dragging-ass tired. Remember that he went on at the Isle of Wight at about 2:30am on 8/31/70, then later that day/evening played a LONG set in Stockholm (I can post this soon), then onto Gothenberg, then Cophenhagen...there was so break. And I'm sure he wasn't eating or sleeping too well.

This is Jimi Hendrix's next-to-last final concert, at the Deutschlandhalle in Berlin. The sound quality is not great, but this is an interesting set list with a few oddballs thrown in. Weird running order...I doubt very much that Jimi would close a show with "Lover Man," so hopefully a complete tape will surface someday. I've also included the Armed Forces Radio Network i

The recent Experience Hendrix Berkeley release should've included the rehearsal and this inspired first set. This is pretty good quality, but it's begging for an Eddie Kramer remix. Note that I'm missing Star Spangled Banner & Purple Haze here; both performances are on the Jimi Plays Berkeley DVD. Jimi & Mitch sound tentative (and actually nervous!) during "Fire,&qu

Both albums (plus Steel Wheels) would be much better if they hadn't been produced in accordance with crap '80s production values.

Hendrix played 2 amazing shows at the Berkeley Community Theater on May 30, 1970. Experience Hendrix recently released the complete second set (as well as re-releasing the heavily edited "Jimi Plays Berkeley" concert film on DVD), but here are some recordings made during the afternoon soundcheck. Several of the songs here were not played during the 2 concerts. Enjoy -

Hi Barnestormer- unfortunately Freedom & Keep On Groovin are incomplete. Can you remember much about Jimi's Isle of Fehmarn performance? I actually like the show alot...the band settles into a nice groove after Jimi tells the chorus of booers "I don't give a @#$%& if you boo, as long as you boo in key...you mothers..." There's alot of tension in the music recor

I love the song, but I'm not sure that they could really pull it off now. There's something enchanting about the arrangement that I can't quite put into words. That's Brian Jones on a dulcimer, right? It might be tough to capture that feeling without Brian. I do think that alot of the Brian-era stuff still works very well on stage, though. Perhaps this one could be re-wor
