Encores used to mean something. They would be an unplanned and spontaneous reaction to an overwhelming response by the audience. A friend of mine once told me that the first show she remembers seeing an encore that was planned in advance was a Creedence show at the Forum. She knew something was up because they had left their guitars on the stage, plugged in and ready to go. Certainly b

Quoteloog droog QuoteRockman His beat is so lonely... And the "meaning" of this post is a reference to the song called "Beat's So Lonely" recorded many years ago by Dylan's Charlie Sexton. This Charlie Sexton looks to be a cop, and here in America police often "walk a beat" while on patrol in cities. So it's a play on words. Just to be clea

QuoteFP Mono single mix, note opening riff doesn't have the slap back echo. video: I remember when it was first played on the radio, and that's still the way I think of the song, with that dry opening riff. Thanks for posting.

QuoteRocky Dijon Oh the outrage. Next they'll be telling us Mick Jagger wrote a song about a gay hustler who fancies a policeman or a song about a plantation owner preferring sex with his slaves or, even worse, songs about enjoying bondage. Will wonders never cease? Thank goodness they're nice and safe and offend no one in 2022 or we wouldn't be able to sleep at night. The warn

QuoteDoxa I like Lem's description of Ronnie's stuff being hardcore Stones fan item. Because that it is. Personally I am not that big Stones fan, since I see it as a pretty mediocre stuff. Without the Stones connection, I wouldn't care a shit about it.

I love Ronnie... But "Outlaws" is just plain awful. While not as cringe as "F.U.C. Her" it's still just pose and formula....a real nothingburger. Bill made much better use of the Pointer Sisters' voices on Monkey Grip.

There are exceptions, but most of the time, it's probably a good idea if singers stick to singing and actors stick to acting.

He also put out a "More Sounds of Christmas" album which is very good. Both get a lot of spins here in December. (I'll play "The In Crowd", etc., all year long, but I reserve Christmas albums for Christmas time--starting the day after Thanksgiving--but that's just me!) Great artist. Huge loss. Rest in Peace.

Quote24FPS Saw him with CCR opening for the Turtles spring 1969. I was still so teenybop that I had to leave at times to give my tender ears a break from Fogerty's solos. You saw Creedence in '69?? That's some serious bragging rights! What a year for them--they put out 3 great albums: Bayou Country released in January, Green River in August, and Willy and the Poor Boys

In that article the guy dismissed cassette tapes by saying you had to eject them turn them over to hear the other side.. The last couple of cars I had with tape players didn't require you to do that. I can recall a big deal being made in the early 80's when Bob Seger wanted one of his albums to also be released on 8-track. He said he was doing it for the Detroit auto workers who

Nothing like listening to your favorite album and then finding out the sequence has been shuffled to even out the times of each of the four tape tracks, with the longer songs interrupted by the KA-CHUNK! sound of the tape switching between tracks. There were a lot of great things going on in music during the 70's. The 8-track format wasn't one of them.

QuoteTheGreek [ So I have to think that Ringo made more money and still does to this day versus Ronnie . According to a Google search I just did Ringo net worth in 2020 was reported at $350 Million dollars , versus Ronnie Wood at $220 Million . I think it pays to have been behind the kit for the Fab Four from Liverpool England . $350 Million vs. $220 Million.

Tattoo You came out that year, and I wonder if the cover that featured Mick and Keith bothered Charlie, Bill and Ronnie. The "Mick Jagger" banner was probably the work of a local promoter. When Ronnie was in the Faces, it was common for promoters to bill them as "Rod Stewart & Faces" to sell more tickets.

If there is one Ian McLagan record to get, it has to be his 1980 album Bump In The Night. It starts out solid with "Little Girl" featuring Ronnie on bass. But once that guest star turn is done, and when the second track, "Alligator" begins you're at another level. The band leans in and it just kills.."I'm not a woman hater..." WTF!! Sweat, drama,

Quoteslewan somehow (but only somehow) Ringo seems to be The Beatles' equivalent to Ronnie Wood… At the end of The Last Waltz both made micro-appearance cameos--just brief close-ups during the group finale--that got them listed in the promotion alongside all the other artists who were spotlighted as they performed their own songs. They didn't really add much other than representing t

This is achieved by turning the tape upside down and playing it backwards while putting echo on the gu

Glyn Johns has been around since the very beginning and personally knows the Stones as people. He was right there working and sweating with them as they made their classics, so it's not like he's awe-struck by these "legends" the way I imagine someone like Don Was would be. For that very reason (and the great sound he gets in the studio) I wish he would work with them aga
