One clip I'd love to see again is The Kinks doing, "Money Talks" in 1974.

First time I saw Belzer was in The Groove Tube in 1974: His wacky bit as "The President" is weirdly prescient. Life imitated art. RIP

Burt himself was one of the great non-singers of all time. In this clip he gives Hal David props for the brilliant lyrics of "Alfie." Watching Burt perform the song and strain to sing it is somehow incredibly moving to me.

Dean Martin projected a casual indifference that masked his artistry. Part of his genius was never breaking a sweat and making it all look easy. And fun. This clip of Dean singing with his idols the Mills Brothers always brings a smile to my face:

If I'm not mistaken, in 1974 Fogerty signed over his Creedence publishing to Zaentz as part of a deal so that he could be released from his contract with Fantasy Records. That was a not a wise move.

In 1978 Geraldo Rivera compared the Stones with Muhammed Ali. It seemed apt at the time, in that both began in the '60's and were still going strong. But by the 80's Ali boxing career was over, and he was doing tacky bug spray ads. I can think of being at a mall and hearing Mick's song,"Just Another Night" and thinking, "This is Mick's d-Con c

The Pointer Sisters were a very talented act, floating around for most of the '70's after their debut. "Yes, We Can Can" actually got a bit of airplay on FM Rock Radio in L.A. in '73. Their appearance (with Richard Pryor) is a highlight of the 1977 film Car Wash. In the early '80's their career took off with a string of high-profile hits, including this one wh

Here's an ultra-rare recording I just found out about: Frank Sinatra singing a new version of "The Lady Is A Tramp" called "Maureen Is A Champ" as a birthday present to Ringo's wife.

A great, great talent behind so many of the classic hits that were the soundtrack of my life in high school and beyond. Thank you, and RIP Thom Bell. The article listed ended with this paragraph: Bell reflected on his writing process. “Every melody I ever wrote, I worked hard on,” he said. “And once I deliver it, that’s it. There’s nothing else I can do. I had one rule: You cannot

Quoteslewan The Who are playing Berlin Waldbühne in June. It's all reserved seating (which is quite surprising for Waldbühne – as we all know there's usually no reserved seating inside the various blocks) Yeah. No reserved seating at a Who concert? What could possibly go wrong?

I recommend their 2018 Hey! Merry Christmas! album. It's one of the best Rock n Roll Christmas albums out there, with lots of great original songs and covers that are somehow fresh and retro-sounding at the same time.

Just two weeks ago I was watching the remake of the movie Breathless that I hadn't seen since 1983. Richard Gere's character is a big fan of Jerry Lee, and Lewis' music is key to the whole thing as it propels the movie forward. It's a nice tribute.

The messages here remind me of signs posted by various teachers in my Junior High classes over 50 years ago: "SORRY CHUM, NO GUM" "SPEED KILLS" At this rate I expect we'll see discussions about the Stones smoking cigarettes, using profanity, and running down the hallway leading up to the stage.

Cool Ronnie. Cool Kenney. Cool Mac. Cool Tetsu. Even a Cool Rod! A Faces concert was a fine time indeed. Thanks for posting. When I see footage of 70's rock audiences, I'm always struck how fit everyone appears to be. It wasn't even notable back then. At some point along the way Americans became "Super-Sized" and much bigger in every way.

I received my copy yesterday and have been buried in it ever since. The '72 Tour--in my opinion-- is the Stones at the top of their game. This collection is an abundance of information on that topic that every Stones fan will appreciate seeing compiled in one place. I think Erwin deserves credit for what he's done as a fan, and what he's done for his fellow fans. Fantastic job.
