I don't think Dolly Parton intended this album to be taken that seriously, folks...winking smiley

think i'll give it a listen before i declare it crap or not

but this does have me thinking

with this coming out in the fall and the much yearned for stones album also rumored to be coming in the fall

wouldn't it be ironically funny if dolly's album ended up selling and charting better then the stones album

now that'll be how dolly sticks it to mick for not being on the albumwinking smiley

Damn shame that none of The Rolling Stones are involved...

The wide variety of artists who are showing their respect to Dolly is simply amazing.
A shame Mick didn't participate...he really missed the boat on this one.

what's next we're talking about on this forum? James last?

So, World On Fire, hmm...opening song for a new James Bond movie? Closing song for a Conan The Barbarian or Marvel movie? A song for apocalyptic dystopian times? A call to arms? Something you've heard once and perhaps enough? It makes you wonder.

Don Henley had both Dolly Parton and Mick Jagger guest on his 2015 solo album Cass County.

If Henley holds Parton in high regard, why doesn't Jagger?

Dolly's just having fun with the whole "Rock" thing. Remember that when she first got nominated for this year's class of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees, she asked to be removed from the list as she had never recorded a Rock album. She was convinced to change her mind about being considered, and gained the votes to be inducted, so now she's delivering a Rock album to mark the occasion.

She's a class act, who seems to sincerely want to unite people instead of spread divisiveness, as seen by her including Kid Rock on an album with so many folks with much different viewpoints. Maybe it's a nod to a fellow Tennessee resident and nothing more.

Like others have said, I'll wait until I hear the finished product before casting any judgement.

This is one of those albums made for Christmas giving. People will play it once and then play a few interesting tracks for friends. Thereafter it will languish on the shelf for time immemorial.

You have quite possibly nailed it on the head.

Having said that, this album could have massive sales as just about every artist in existence except the Stones are on it.

Well, she´s alive and kicking. A southern woman with 76 albums in her CV. She loves music. And she loves her fans. Is that a problem? It hurts when gifted people release albums? Year after year...Well, I guess so...

Some interesting choices there, but the first thing that stands out is You’re No Good with Emmylou Harris - likely a tribute to their Trio pal Lynda Ronstadt who, I believe, can no longer sing. And I’ll look forward to seeing what she and Miley do with Wrecking Ball. I thought Mick was in there somewhere, maybe this isn’t a complete track list?

Can't wait to hear her contribution to the Stones album if those rumours are actually true.

The three singles out so far are just great!

"World on Fire" - see above video.

"Magic Man" (feat. Ann Wilson with special guest Howard Leese) just cooks. This one is credited as "Carl Version" which I take as having extra lyrics (?)

"Bygones" (feat. Rob Halford with special guests Nikki Sixx & John 5) = WOW.

Well, if she's already recorded Satisfaction, maybe Angel In My Heart, Say You Will, Don't Call Me Up, or Old Habits....

Though I think maybe the most fitting choice would be Party Doll!!! drinking smiley

Almost her name - perfect. Does she have one called Jaggy Mick?

On a related topic, Nick Lowe released an album called Bowi after David released the album titled Low.

Not with Kid Rock on it.
Pass. Won’t even listen to it. And I’ve been a fan since the Seventies and saw her live. Glad Mick passed too. I’m surprised a lot of the artists would be associated with it knowing her history of inclusiveness, not one of Kid Rock’s qualities.

Ugh... sorry BV I see you had to merge... I guess search needed a wider time window. Getting old I guess as I thought I had seen the thread, too.

Her history of inclusiveness, huh?!
Good thing she isn't as closed minded as you. I feel sad for you...
you're missing out on a great thing here. Hopefully you change your mind.
I'm sure that's what Dolly would hope you'd do.

Well...I think it´s kinda scary...or sad. Now? She´s 75, 76? Her mouth dont quite follow her intention, and so on. She sure has the will, but can she do it? Love her dearly. Dont get me wrong.

Would have been great to have Keith duet with Dolly.

A new version of Happy could have sounded great, or You Got the Silver.
