I think the version from Ladies and Gentlemen is the best one , both when it comes to sound quality and performance. The version you've got I think is from Brussels '73

IMO, this is the big difference between Mick and Keef. I really wonder how the band would have sounded if Mick was the band leader. I mean Keef certainly has his limitations (technical) as a guitar player, but it's also a matter of taste

Anyone know what's out there from these two shows? Only what's on L&G? Must have been two really good conserts! I've heard that the version of All Down The Line one can see on the C.S. Blues movie has the audio frome one of these shows. Are there any boots that has any material thats not on L&G?

stone-relics Wrote: No need for it to be officially released...the boots are near perfect. Not even the Brussels tapes are near perfect when it comes to sound. All the live recordings from the seventies were done bye the rolling stones mobile recorder which was considered as one of the best mobile recording units in the world.

The decision of releasing any live recordings from the past has to be taken by both Mick and Keef. I have read statements from Richards that he sees no problem in "handing out" some unreleased gems. Potted Shrimp Wrote: > Two words why it will never be released: Allen > Klein I don't think Allen Klein has anything to do with the film. From what I heard the film was originally released in cinemas in '74 to sort of ease the pain from the fact that Allen stopped their release of the well known doubble live album. Allen had the rights to all the Decca songs and there

Well, it sometimes suffers from bad lightning, but maybe it will get better if they remaster it. Anyway, if the movie ever get officially released it would probably stand out for it's sound quality. Though on my copies of the LP's "Bedspring Symphony" and "Brussels Afair" Tumbling Dice is also out of tune, but I dont know whish show it is from. Your probably right Mathijs

Why is the 1973 Brussels recording so often considered to be the best? Keith is out of tune on some of the songs, and they played far better on other gigs such as the London recordings from the same year. Is it perhaps because it's the longest soundboard recording from that year?

It's true that the live versions are very much alike the studio versions nowadays. We've heard it a thousand times before. But, if the band continue to put out live records from every tour, they would certainly have a lot of holes to fill to complete their live history! Maybe it's part of their pension plan Hopefully they will open up the valuts some day, and release a live album

The real audio recording from the flatbed truck has the rawest version of Brown Sugar I've ever heard. The L.A. '75 recording called "I never talked to Chuck Berry part 2" features this version as a bonus track...

Stevie Wonder is one of my favorite artists. "Talking Book", "Innervisions", "Music of my mind","Hotter than july" and "Key of life" are absolutely perfect records. Marvin Gaye is a good one too. Otis Reddings Monterey festival version of "Tenderness" is outstanding! Don't forget Merry Clayton's Gimme Shelter
