Maybe it's more interesting to claim that a devoted, blind fan swung the judge's opinion. But it's far less rock n roll if the judge actually based his decision, shock horror, on The Law and decided that 22gms is not really that much and that real traffickers import a lot more than that. What would she have actually said to the judge? Please don't send KR to jail becaus

Not a true pie but a genuine Cornish pasty is the best pie-type food ever. If your in west Cornwall ever, you just have to visit Philps Bakery* on Hayle Harbour. *Father Ted Is In No Way Associated With or Employed By Philps of Hayle.

Creme fraiche in the mash + wholegrain mustard is great. Try a dash of Lee & Perrins in the meat while it's frying. Mmmm yes, you got to have the brown sauce too! Brown Sauce, how come you taste so good?

Absolutely agree SIWDC. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, goes the saying. They should throw caution to the wind and pick a younger person who isn't in awe to them. Dare I say it, maybe someone from the electronic/dance world like Paul Oakenfold?

Maybe Robert Lang is overrated etc but he did produce Back in Black, which is still ACDC's best album. Indeed, The Bomb, as the youth say. And his ex wife's albums shifted a few units too.

Well, I finally got a copy of the Saitama DVD earlier this week (ja ja, I know, it's taken a while!). Managed to play a few tracks last night - Sway and JJF. Both seemed like energetic performances on first listen. MJ and KR were full of beans. If I was to pick out one person who didn't seem to be into it, it was Ronnie. I haven't watched the whole show however so maybe that

QuoteHound Dog Father Ted, They did do Tumbin Dice, Happy, Sweet Virginia, All Down The Line, Rip This Joint and Rocks Off at every show during the 72 tour. That is a good amount off a new album. Nowhere near the 2 news songs shows they started doing with ABB. Plus they were doing a lot from Sticky Fingers which they never got to tour behind in the US. Also during that tour they barely touched a

QuoteT&A QuoteFather TedT&A - re your point about them sleepwalking thru the set. I'm wondering if that could, in part, be due to them having to play repetitive shows over a long period? either that or they were up all night prior to the show, "doing it." hmmm...perhaps that excuse was only good for the '78 tour.... Lol! I bet there is still plenty of "par

QuoteGazza QuoteFather Ted Gazza Perhaps the Stones fall down by trying to please everybody all the time? Trouble is, their catalogue is so huge, they simply can't do it justice in 2hrs. Compromises have been made.. True - and any performer is going to realistically be obliged to compromise somewhat when playing to significant numbers of people. I dont think anyone is seriously sugges

Gazza Perhaps the Stones fall down by trying to please everybody all the time? Trouble is, their catalogue is so huge, they simply can't do it justice in 2hrs. Compromises have been made. A year ago, The South Bank Centre ran a series of shows where bands would play one of their classic albums in it's entirety. They could give that a try - just do a few venues - make sure its f

We do certainly like to swear over here! It has become a lot more common to hear the dreaded c*nt in public. One of my Irish buddies used to use c*nt a lot. You can into a pub and hear the usual Tourette's cases who just can't stop saying f@ck. Everyother word is f@ck. Again, some people do take offence but the days are long gone when people stop you in the street and say "

QuoteGazza well..thats probably the reality to a degree, but the counter argument is to ask why it should be like that and why the band seem happy to pander to it... The RS may have a consensus that they shouldn't disappoint the fans (especially those who are paying $450). Is sponsorship an issue? I'm not privy to any sponsorship contracts but there could well be an understanding

Gazza and Doxa are on the money imho. The tour is undoubtedly the big cash cow. The album is just a bit of extra product which gives some credibility to the need to go and tour again. The RS' motives for undertaking such massive tours are frequently questioned when they have a new album. To tour without any new material would just lay them open to claims that they were just doing it for

Quotemarcovandereijk So, my conclusion: there is no point to post any kind of request for whatever output by the Stones, unless you request the same old proven non risk kind of shows we all know by heart. You're probably right. Let's look at it from business manager perspective - they can certainly still shift the product (as the 2.5M unit sales of ABB demonstrates) and they can sti

It is a total injustice that to this day, we still don't know who was behind his murder. I've read a fair bit of the assassination literature and my take is that he was killed by secret CIA assassination program called Operation 40 that was designed to kill Castro. Many of the alleged participants in the assassination were members of Operation 40..including E Howard Hunt (later

To be fair, old bands like the Stones, with their familiar canon of classics, are often stuck on the horns of dilemma. For example, my parents saw The Everly Brothers many years ago. When they announced they were going to play some new music, they were actually booed. As idiotic as I find that, there will always be that element of fans, old and young alike, who only want to hear the greatest h

They have such a wonderfully diverse catalogue of music that could form the basis of a really interesting show/tour. These guys are in the evening of their career, they have nothing to lose by going out on a limb for once and taking a bit of chance. So many of their classic era defining songs have just been ruined by overplay. I don't need to hear BS, YCAGWYW, GS etc etc etc played live a
