The Stones have a warehous in the London docks area, and all equipment, when not used on tour or in the studio, is stocked there. Chuch McGee was in charge of the warehouse, Pierre de B. is now. - 72 Custom Tele/s Last used on stage at the 1993 Winos tour, used for press pictures in 2002, not seen ever since. Keith said he did some recordings with it for B2B. - Late 70's Rosewood?

9185. Altamont
Listening to the well known Altamont audience tape as released by VGP it suddenly struck me: this isn't taped by a fan, this is taped by the Maysels brothers themselves! What you hear is the mike close to the stage, placed there to capture the audience reponse. I was listening and I noticed that many screams of a women in the audience were exectly the same as on the movie, and some of the fa

I know of three 1969 soundboards that exist: Altamont and MSG 28/11/1969 both shows. I have only listened to an 8th copy of the Altamont show though, in a quality not somehting to write home about... Mathijs

Asie from the lack of energy in 1971, I really don't like the sound. Instead of the piles of Ampeg SVT amps, they experimented with Fender Twin Reverb amps. The Leeds gigs just sound way too clean. Combine that with a lack of stage tuners and a Ampeg Armstrong guitar with tuning instabillity....no, not my favourite tour. Mathijs

George Chkiantz has made a 20 minute professional film of the Stones in 62/63, and he also filmed them in the Marquee. Maybe this film ever sees the light of day! Mathijs

Both shows were recorded by the Stones. There's an interview with Keith the day after the first gig, and he runs through the soundboard tape with the interviewer. This tape was, according to Keith, useless as it had technical problems like wistles and hiss. He hoped tonights show will be recorded better. Mathijs

We feel we have come full circle by now. We notice that both musically and artisically we haven taken the tribute theme as far as possible. We have played the smallest pub and the largest (for tribute bands) festivals. Many dreams are fulfilled, and we feel doing it for a second time is not the way to go. For example, it is a dream for every Dutch musician to play the Stairway to Heaven in Utrech

Do notice that Cracking Up on LYL does not have the original guitars anymore. Instead, you hear a least four Ron Wood parts. Mathijs

Yep, Flip the Switch has decided to call it quits...After almost three years the band feels it's time to move on. We feel we have achieved all that is possible within the limits of a tribute band. We decided that we should stop at our peak, and we want to go out with a bang! We will reload our energy and do 15-odd shows the coming 5 months. The last show will be announced soon, and absolutel

In my opinion, if we listen to the 1976 tour on boots, we mostly listen to the standard SB recordings: Paris, Lyon, London and Knebworth. These recordings are dry and lack any athmosphere. But when you listen to some good audience rec

I tell, we're going to get the same as we got since 1989: Don Was behind the board, Chuck Leavell, Lisa, Daryll, Blondie, Bernard, two Keith songs, 3 true Stones rockers, 3 Mick pop bullshit, and 2 "modern" songs, most likely one produced by Pharrell Williams or N.E.R.D. and the other mixed by Wycleff Jean. It differs with the music I play. For Flip the Switch I play almost all of the solo's, and then I have my Les Paul fairly high, about the same as Mick Taylor has. If I play mainly rythm (so I play my Tele) I have it quite low. My Strat (rythm, some solo's) is somewhere in between. Talking about good looks: it always amazed me that a Telecaster looks so good on Keith, and no one looks
