no one knows for sure whether it happened. As far as I know the incident was written down by a journalist, and ever since it is taken as true. All you see on the video is the intro getting @#$%& up, and Wyman and Mick looking in the direction of Keith and Ron. Anybody heard of a private film of the gig? Mathijs

No, Keith hit Ronnie as Ron was stoned out of his mind on stage, as Wood was still a crack addict in 1982. Check Wood's white sweaty

On Luxery, Charlie plays a 100% reggae beat, hence: Luxury is a pure reggae. I agree, Keiths riff's hard through it, but it is a reggae. Think I'm Going Mad has got nothing to do with reggae. Reggae doesn't mean "slow". Mathijs

It's actually the one and only Stones song I can name that I really can't stand, and even get emberrassed by. The horrible lyrics, the fake emotions, the dreadfull horns, I hate it. Normally the Stones get away with this kind of songs because they do it tong-in-cheek (Dear Doctor, Till the Next Goodbye, Faraway Eyes), but now Jagger means it, all the so-called politic correctness. Biggest dissapointment: the European leg of the Licks tour. I was really excited for the Stones to come to Europe. Judging from the boots, the US leg of the tours was great: Ronnie was back again, playing guitar instead of clowning around, the backup musicians role was diminished, and the song selection was great. Big big disapointment: in Europe Wood was drinking or doing other sorts of things a

If I remember well, the recording was made by a visiting journalist, who taped parts of a rehearsel with Watts, Richards and Jagger. The interview afterwords is also available, and you hear Jagger and Richards laughing about Brian. Mathijs

Some shows of the 1972 tour were recorded for a double live album, which also was to feature Stevie Wonder. I absolutely disagree with the statement that Brian was a talented multi-instrumentalist. He was an encredible harmonica player, a good piano player and a mediocre guitarist. He was a pure amateur on all instruments mentioned here. His virtue is that he experimented with them, and took popular music of that time further, just like the Beatles, the Beach Boys and Pink Floyd did in 1965/1966. But t

Ronnie plays open E slide and second rythm guitar on Hang Fire, first rythm and solo is Keith. Wood plays rythm guitar and saxophone on Had it With You, IMO the best song of that album. And about Worried About You, just forget it. Anyways, my best Wood moments: 1. Shattered and Beast of Burden from Hampton 1981. The weaving with Keith here is encredible, not from this earth. Well, from 1970 on the Stones have recorded EVERY gig they played except for the Ia Stewart memorial gig. So, there's hopefully going to be a shipload more shows available as soon as the Stones call it quits. Mathijs

The thing is: whether the songs are good or not, I just never listen to these CD's. I can't remember the last time I played Voodoo Lounge, and I tried Steel Wheels a year ago after not listening to it for more than 5 years. Well, the sound is terribly dated with all the synths, I just couldn't bare it aymore after 30 minutes. To me, after Undercover there just isn't anything w

The Royal Dragon is a tiny bit better than An American Affair (Plane Sex is a copy of American Affair). But the difference is not dramatic: it's the difference between a 8th genaration and a ninth generation tape. About the no-noise of the NYC SB tape: there's not much you can do with it anymore. Once you have compressed the noise, you can't take the compession back anymore. I

In all fairness, this a 10th generation SB tape, with only the vox and guitars audible. Sound is further muffled, boomy and in general not pleasent to listen to. I prefer almost any audience tape of the 1972 tour over this tape. The show is as goods as it gets though! By the way, Sweet Virginia is from Fort Worth, not Pittsburgh. Mathijs

Because you need a lot less power to amplify a blasting 350 watt Ampeg SVT than you need for a voice. In fact, when Cream whent on tour i 1968, they only ammplified the vox and drums -guitar and bass were unamplified, just the big Marshall towers. Mathijs

The reason is: in those days PA's were still fairly weak in power. So, at larger concerts they simply used two PA's for the vocals, one left and one right. The mixing boards didn't have the facility yet to connect easily, so two microfones were used. If you just tigh them together the sound gets awfull as somne frequencies will interfere, therefore the second mike is taped approx.

In Bitch Charlie turns the beat around, not Keith. Instead of the 2 and 4 he starts to play the 1 and 3. Actualy, Keith likes to play his rythm just before the 2 and 4 (so, slightly off-beat instead of on the beat), but Charlie is the one who turns it around. He does this alot especially on the 1981 tour, and he normally corrects himself again by playing a four-on-the floor bassdrum and skipping
