Anybody know any history on this track? How did MickJ hook-up with the tree-boy?
I know this probably forever ruins my reputation but, I always kinda liked this song. Pedo-boy is a non-required oddity on this track, but otherwise I think MJagger rocks with Tito, Marlon, Randy, and Jermaine. I love it when he says "I need mouth-to-mouth resusitation". This is the best Mick funk track.
'Don’t forget, if you’re on your bike, wear white'
I dunno is one of those things Jagger sometimes does that make me cringe. Embarrasing drek, tho yes, the Jacksons, and even Michael did some oretty good Motown funk back in the day......

... incredible how people can be so prejudiced.
Michael a non reauired oddity: except that he wrote the track. He produced it
Mick rocks with tito, marlon, randy & jermaine??? There is no Tito, Randy & Jermaine on this track.
Jackie & Marlon sing abit back ground vocals. That's it.
This is in fact a Michael Jackson solo track. With Mick as a special guest.
Btw... one of Micks worst vocal performances ever. But the track is cool.
Not sure how Mick hooked up with Michael but it was shortly after Paul McCartney had the duet with Michael, Say Say Say I think is the name of the song. One must remember that this was when Thriller was at it's peak and Michael was the biggest pop star in the world. Don't like either song, but I remember at the time, several reports of how shortly after a Beatle does something, a Stone then copies shortly after!

I bet the Stones were collectively shitting themselves in the immediate periods after December 1980 and November 2002 in that case!
Mick was fascinated with Michael jackson at that time. He was the biggest star in the world. He was amazed with the succes of Thriller. So he begin to do things: a new record deal for the stones.
He also noticed that Michael was more popular as a solo artist than as a member of the Jacksons. So in the stones contract was also a small thing about solo work.
But it was Michael Jackson who approached Mick. Mick actually didn't want to. But finnally gave in. Michael always gets what he wants.
Saying this... it was originally a duet with Freddie Mercury. The demo version can be easily found on the internet (with Freddie), if you are intrested. But that version didn't work.
Mick and Michael didn't have too good memories of the session. Mick said Michael was kinda boring, because he was constantly working on the track. Michael was hugely disappointed in Micks performance.
Music written, composed and arranged by Michael Jackson Lyrics by Michael Jackson & Randy Hansen Produced by Michael Jackson Lead Vocals: Michael Jackson & Mick Jagger Background Vocals: Jackie, Marlon and Michael Jackson & Johnny Ray Nelson
Musicians:
Michael Jackson: Claps & Linn Programming David Williams : Guitar & Bass Paulinho Da Costa: Percussion
(David Williams is the guitar player Michael works a lot with. In studio but also on tour. Paulinho Da Costa worked with nearly every one. From Michael Jackson to Madonna to Bob Dylan. Everyone.)
I always thought this was a strange combination. Wasn't the 'very @#$%& funny Michael' line on the 12 inch version of Too Much Blood a dig at Jackson? Maybe Jackson never heard it before inviting Jagger to his studio.
Freddie Mercury was originally going to do State Of Shock, but was unable to get to a studio to do his vocal as he was on tour so Mick stepped in instead!

Jackson AND Mercury! That would have been a terrible place to be for a nice young man.....
I seriously suspect every so often Jagger tries to hook up with somebody contemporary to reconnect with the younger audiences. Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson come immediately to mind. I seriously doubt his judgement, image wise, in both cases, makes me cringe, and if he's trying to be "cool" it's anything but. MJ has had his moments, both good and bad, but is a very unlikely combo/ mismatch with a bad boy like a Stone. Different type of bad altogether..............
