QuoteHonkeyTonkFlash QuoteSuperC It's called the Golden Era w/ Taylor for a reason. The era was mainly golden because Mick and Keith were writing their best songs. Taylor was lucky enough to walk in on that era. True he added a special something to the live show but I suspect the era would have been golden anyway because of the strength of the songs... True - agree totally that MJ and KR

None. There is not a single song post 1982 that I seek out to give a listen. A few Keith and Ronnie solo tunes, sure. The there is just way too much great music pre-1982 to enjoy without going down market.

The best country tinged song in their catalog. A bit of a wreck when done live but it was great to hear it on concert.

Prefer SF, then EOMs, followed by BB, then LIB. Oddly, it's not so much I find the songs from LIB to be any less compelling, rather the "flow/vibe" of the tracks running order seems off - more like a greatest hits compilation that doesn't feel natural. I know, strange knock but to me that's the difference in LIB v the other big 4.

QuoteTooTough Why should they ever realease a new album when their own fans donĀ“t like their output of the last 30 years? I like ABB very much, it was a good album with good songwriting, not made to change the world, but made to put something NEW out (what some here are looking forward to again - and bitching about that in 5 years). Unless there's a real change in approach, effort

A IORR poster stated once that the mid-late 80's & 90's albums sound like a modern day cover band trying to be the Stones - couldn't agree more with this description. Slick, overproduced, generic sound w/ largely paint by numbers song writing. Sure, a few exceptions here and there but mostly music that I never listen again to after the initial spin or two.

Great show. Have the DVD - it seems to capture the evening well. From Chicago - Double Door is a great, gritty venue in a awesome part of the city (Wicker Park). Perfect spot.

QuoteNaturalust QuoteSuperC What makes their club shows over the years so great is both the smaller setting as well as the typically more diverse/interesting set lists - El Mocambo, Double Door, Toronto, LA, and the a lesser degree, the club shows in 2002, for instance. Not to mention limited backup support vs. larger venues. I agree about the cubs shows generally having a bit more diversity i

Stones has always been ultra-safe w/ their set selections, and the more so as the years pass. Credit for trotting out Sway, CYHMK, ER, Silver Train, Worried about You, etc. the more rarely played tunes from LIB. My only wish is they would mix up the sets/made the running order to make the evening a bit less predictable. What makes their club shows over the years so great is both the smaller set

Love the versions of just about every song from Roundhouse & Leeds w/ Satisfaction & Live With Me being the exceptions vs. 69. I think 71 stacks up very well against 69, and in some cases surpass. Stray Cat & HTW I would put into the surpass category with MR, JJF, SFM, LIV in the same league as 69. Too bad SFTD wasn't done in 71. The new stuff - Bitch, BS, DF - great.

Like better than VL or B Bang but still not a great work. Suffers from same disjointed track order as the aforesaid, too much filler, and the post 1980 mediocre song writing, especially lyrically. As with VL and B Band, rarely, if ever listen to this one. Again, far too many better listening options in the Stones library to spend time on BTB. As a side, and as a result of the Album Talk o

The alternate version of Loving Cup from the expanded Exile is easily the best "alternate"of a Stones song by a considerable margin. And might be one of their best tunes - period....

Thought SW was decent when first released. Now, much lower opinion. Have no interested in listening to it, and can't believe now that I even considered SW an ok CD. These album talk/Track Talk posts are interesting in that I haven't thought much about the 80's/post TY albums in years. Now w/ Track Talk I can rediscover just how bad there were (w/ a few good tunes here and there
