Quoteleteyer Dave Gahan must be in this debate, the man is just top five Yeah, absolutely. Saw Depeche Mode 10 years ago and he still stands out clearly as the 2nd best I've seen. Saw some recent tour footage and he's still going pretty strong. #1 has to be that bloke Keith what's-his-name plays with.

QuoteRedhotcarpet Quotestanlove One of 18 good songs on Exile. And one of their most important ever. Yeah RedHC, besides this being a great dark gospel tune replete with Plummer's upright bass runs, this song is the middle of the 3-song segue that to me is the climax of Exile: Ventilator -> Just Want to See His Face -> Let it Loose. A very unique flavor in their catalogue! (And

Talking about Daltrey brings up a point: Couldn't AC/DC have constructed a wider version of the clear curved plexiglass decibel barrier Townsend used on tour to shield Brian's hearing from the worst of the sonic boom onstage? Yeah, it would have sucked for him not to be too mobile, but could've been a way for the band to fulfill tour agreements and save face.

Ranking The Mediocore Albums 1972 - 1986: 1. Love You Live (El Macambo side, an artfully edited RW YCAGWYW solo, a nice vibe throughout. Almost too fun to be mediocre) 2. Emotional Rescue (DITH rules) 3. Undercover 4. Metamorphosis (side 2 is a crucial and necessary listen, side one collection is sleepy and underwhelming) 5. Dirty Work 6. Still Life (a disappointing 10 song abbreviation o

24 shows, 118 unique songs, 13 cities, 17 venues. 13 different calendar years, including every American tour between 1978-2015, plus 2003 Rotterdam. And if memory serves me correctly, I wore 17 different pairs of socks over the course of those 24 shows, got stoned at 20 of them and left 5 of them right before or during the last song to beat the rush and get back on the long road home.

QuoteThe Mez My heart remains so very heavy with malaise. MEZ I hear ya MEZ; me too. Am just starting to come out of a weeklong funk. I pulled out my Bowie lp's, cd's and even cassettes (I have 4-5 of the Rykodisk reissues w/ bonus tracks), but have been unable to play them. Curiously, I have been okay playing a song at a time on YouTube; mostly live vids or the newest stuff, but a

Quotemr_dja From what I'm hearing (as of this morning): Ben is expected to play, Brown is not expected to play. If we were healthy, I wouldn't be as nervous about Denver's defense... As it is, I'm not feeling all that good right now. I wish I knew more about what Manning was going through so I could get a better read on where he's actually standing. Having him in

Belated B'day Pagey. Page should give the Black Crowes another call if he's going to continue not doing anything. I thought Outrider (1988?) was going to be the start of something. Coverdale, Paul Rodgers, instrumentals, ...something/anything. He needs a producer/collaborator to light a fire under his ass. Maybe he's psyched himself out and doesn't feel it will measure up t

Quotemr_dja I'm just happy to still be able to say "GO STEELERS". The longer the 4th quarter went on yesterday, the more I felt like I wouldn't be able to say that anymore this season. Still fun while it's lasting though! Glad that we're going to Denver as opposed to N.E. It's always kind of awkward when Mom has to blacklist me due to a sporting event! Pe

Not sure if this has been posted upthread yet. From Tony Visconti: "He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man,

Crushing news. Just was listening to Blackstar for the first time yesterday. What a great artist; we were so lucky to have him and his creative genius with us for so long. RIP to the Thin White Duke, thank you for bringing us along on your adventures. Truly one of the greats. Sad day.

Crazy; all 3 playoff games this weekend have gone to the 4th quarter as shutouts. With Seattle finally on the board in Minnesota, it's still a possibility that all 4 playoff games could be won by the visiting teams. I wonder if that's ever happened.

Whew. The most torrential rain-soaked game I've seen in recent memory, and the first time I recall there being a 20 yard "safe" zone between the two teams during warmups. A roller coaster of hits, plays, attitude, penalties and momentum shifts in the 4th quarter.

Somebody's got to break this 15-year cycle, ever since Don't Stop and the 3 on 40Licks, where many of their new songs sound like demos. No crafting of decent intros, outros, bridges, endings. When was the last decent instrumental break in a song? 18 years ago on B2B's OoC (trumpet) and AOM (guitar)? What about all the great 'sweetening' overdubs they would do to fill out

Cool, thanks for posting. I like how much of the rhythm parts are kind of upbeat double time but that the lyrics and pacing are delivered at half that speed. I wouldn't call it creepy, but perhaps distant, remote, etc. It's like an extension of some of the ground first covered in the darker pieces from Low and Outside. Looking forward to hearing more of his forward-looking pieces. Is th

QuoteGasLightStreet In the AFC the leading wild card team leads their division with a losing record. That's just... wrong. Even though Houston (4-5) is tied atop their division with Indy, after tiebreakers they're below the other 4 4-5 teams in vying for a wildcard spot. So thankfully, all 3 of the AFC teams in the wild card hunt are over .500: Steelers, Bills, Jets. And with almost h
