Mea culpa on Ally Bain, when it should have been Frankie Gavin. I think both played with De Dannan. Throw in Dolores Kean and you'd get a full set.

Prior to that, the Stones deployed Phil Beer on Blinded By Love; he's a former Fairport Convention fiddler, but I don't like Blinded By Love.

I do like Flaco Jiminez's contribution to Sweetheart's Together. I think Keith does listen to Arhoolie box sets, and to Ry Cooder's solo material, hence the use of Jiminez.

Can we also throw in Buckwheat Zydeco's contribution to Keith's solo You Don't Move Me, and Michel Doucet, of Beausoleil, who ably assisted on Locked Away. Or maybe I'm being too broad here.

Phil Spector and Jack Nitzsche on Play With Fire, sometime in the small hours when everyone but Mick and Keith had gone home.

I love Billy Preston's organ solo on "I Got the Blues."

Also, Wayne Perkins guitar solo on Hand of Fate, and Harvey Mandel on Hot Stuff - an amazing solo.

Nicky's discography. Whoop there it is. Stones, Beatles, Kinks, Who, Zappa, Dusty, Ella Fitzgerald and others...many others...not just overdubs with The Stones,
but an essential rhythm member as they worked things up in (arguably) their very best recordings when they were still very much a working recording band with expanding vision and passion.
His rhythm is as stunning as his really wonderful, just amazing melodic sense. He was a miracle of sensitivity and intuition, and choperoonies.

can't argue with Nicky and Bobby's contributions all through history. Add Jim Price in the hey-day, and Preston - ONLY in studio; not live.

Add Buckmaster's strings on "Sticky Fingers". Ry Cooder's slide on "Memo from Turner".
And surely Sly's percussion all over "Undercover" album.

Sonny Rollins is one of the Jazz Greats, but I am not wild about his additions to
"Waiting on Friend", "Slave" and "Neighbors".

So no love for Chuck Leavell, eh?

For me one of the best (not the only one by far) is Billy Preston on I got the Blues.

So Sorry, but to me Chuck Sucks!

I am a Jack Nitzsche'fan. He made so many contributions to The Stones. He is the most neglected contributor in my book. Plus I believe he would show The Stones around town when they were recording in in LA.
He played harpsichord on a few Stones tunes and lots more piano.
