Away from trouble! Sometimes to a place of eternal happiness like when I'm listening to the last minute or so from Tumbling Dice;that beautiful line/riff over and over again, wishing that it never stops!

I like it too! There is a Gimme shelter poster behind the two guys with the headphones on in a radio station studio I suppose.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteKirk QuoteDandelionPowderman He also plays the acoustic slide guitar on This Place Is Empty. Really? Are you sure? Yep. He is specifically credited in the liner notes. Thanks, I haven't noticed that!

The intro of Heaven as well as the rest of the guitar parts there is him too, right? But then again, that's not a solo.

I thought about this one too, but this seems to be closer to providing a riff. I'm trying to find any specific, clear solo part within a tune, be it in his solo stuff or Stones work.

We know about his guitar playing in several songs, studio and live. What about taking a solo? Does anything come into mind?

It is a nice photo, but I have to agree with Mathijs. One thing only, I wonder if he thinks here about the alternative not to hit the hi-hat while hitting the snare....

It is stated ".. the older generation should stop trying to define what it means to be young..". The Stones did this in some way when they themselves were young, within a given sociocultural and economic concept, and now they're doing the opposite, in some way again, by trying to define - not exactly actually - what it could mean to be old, while they themselves are old.

24FPS, you might be right! Of course, there is something missing in the latter version compared to the 1981 one. But the whole sonic attitude if this is a proper expression is not that far away. IMHO of course.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Just listen to bass playing on these two clips. Bill is all walking all over the fretboard. Darryl is concentrating on the key notes. Nice! I put the 2003 audio over the 1981 video and everything works just as good!!!

My humble opinion about this: Double stops, all these descending and ascending harmonic riffs and slides involving 6th and 5th strings or 6th and 4th strings, are all over the place..from T-Bone Walker down to Berry, down to the Stones playing Route 66, Spider and the fly etc. etc.Ry Cooder has played a central role in this, as he played along with the Stones in the studio or whatever, but Kei

I think that this is one of the Stones songs that when played live, can never capture the album version. It is a sonic orgy - in a good sense - with so much going on, the horns, the guitar layers, the addtional vocals etc. Jagger tries in the live version to follow one of the many melodic lines which seem to be there in the studio version and he is actually floating around them, combating with th
