Here is the discussion we've had earlier this year, when The Sicilian posted about Shocking Blue.

Wise words from bv, in these hours of darkness. My thoughts are with those who enjoyed a careless evening at the show, but ended up in a state of frenzy. But yeah, let's carry on living the life of love and light, despite those who want us to change it into a life of hatred and darkness. We will maintain!

I've ordered six tickets for me and my friends/kids, all with my name on them. So I'll have to buy five false ID's on the black market for my fellows.

I am still glowing from the Voodoo Lounge tour. Shine a Light, Monkey Man, Connection, Live with me. All in one show (Rotterdam). Songs I never dreamed of hearing live at the time. And the guitars sounded good! Strong and way louder than the keyboards.

QuoteDandelionPowderman The last time they went No Filter.. Ah, man. I knew it was awesome, but seeing it again makes me realise it was heaven on earth! I would certainly be pleased to have a show as pure as that one. Don't think they will, though, let's be realistic. But just a set of four songs? Wouldn't that be great?

So we've had "No Security" and now we are going to get "No Filter". I can not find any explication about the choice of this name. My associations: pure, undiluted, raw. Would that mean a back to basics show? Just five musicians, who loooove to play the blues?

What strikes me the most, is that the critic clearly loves what the Stones did and meant for culture, and is mostly disappointed that this seems to be irrelevant in the Exhibition. I think he has a point, though I've not seen the exhibition.

Frankly, there are only a handfull of bands that I care to see more than once. I guess what is needed (for me), is a certain involvement with the band and its members. It's not just being there for the music, but also to see how the band is doing. Like a meeting with family or friends. Part of the joy is to see the loved ones in the flesh. If that part is missing, because the band cons

Found the time to watch the DVD. Did I notice correctly they refer to the weaving at a certain point, listening to their recorded sessions? "That's a bit of Ron Wood/Keith Richards kind of exchanging rythms" or something like that? At least they seemed to like it.

It's an interesting observation. I think the unpolished guitar players and their pop oriented co-workers needed each other for balanced song writing. Like Charlie said, one is emotion the other is direction. Mick wrote with Lennon, by the way (Too many cooks) and I like the result of that. I can not begin to imagine what a combination of Keith and McCartney would lead to. But both the co

Wasn't this tune forbidden in the US? What did they do with the single I wanna be your man at that side of the Ocean, I wonder.

After a few spins, I must say it's a very exciting album. Not every song is highly remarkable, but there are some real great parts that make me want to listen again and again. Ian Gillan found melodies that suite his older voice and he does not have to use his "twang" that much, like he had to on Banana's for example. I guess our Mick could learn a lesson from that. Pai

Two months later I guess a trip to Warsaw wouldn't have been possible anymore. So I guess the people of Poland were not aware yet of what an opportunity they had at the time to witness a Brittish band.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteTooTough One of the ugliest and worst sounding guitars he has ever played. Why "worst-sounding"? It's a matter of taste, of course, but me, I'm not too fond of the "tinny" sound of these guitars (listen to gimme shelter from Atlanta 89 for example and compare it to the Paradiso version of 95). The "wooden" sound of the L

Got the album with DVD. Watched about 12 minutes of the DVD and, man, do I wish the Stones published something like that! The band jamming in the studio, with Bob Ezrin pulling strings. Love it. Album needs a few more spins before I can comment on it.

QuoteDandelionPowderman After a few spins of Infinite (released today!), I'm impressed. This is a very good rock album. Good writing, playing and production. Gillan is pretty good, too I like this one better than their 80s albums Thanks for the first "review". I'll have to buy it yet, but got myself tickets for the show in Amsterdam this june. Mostly out of curiosi

I love Lisa and what she's done for the band all these years. Audio and visual attraction. Was not too fond of her input on "Night time is the right time", though. But Monkey Man and Gimmie Shelter were amazing in 1994 and 1995. That said, Sasha had a hard job to fill the space, but she did mighty mighty fine. I did not have the chance to witness her live, so I am judging fr

Burned into our hearts and minds forever. These classic songs and his brilliant guitar work. Saw the man only once in my life, in Amsterdam, but the memory will live on forever. CBII, I wish you and your family strength during these days. Keep in mind that your old man meant so much to so many people, all over the world. He will never be forgotten.

It's early, yes, to come with an album talk already, because it's still fresh and not "well worn" like the others. I think it is interesting to compare this album with the Deluxe addition to Some Girls. That's another one with loads of blues tracks on it. The fundaments were laid in the 70s, but production is recent. I think both albums blend together very well. Put

Anyway, nice foot tapping to another nice, though haunting, song. He's a friend of Charlie's, and it's not the first time he has played percussion on St

Both clips bring a big smile on my face! Man, those clips in the era between It's Only Rock 'n Roll and Let's Work... Mick really took his self mockery to the very limit in those days. Undercover of the night might be an exception to this rule, though.
