Would easily fit on Rolling Stones Now! And that's meant as a compliment.

QuoteThe Sicilian Interesting, nobody received credit for the keyboard work in the song yet it was a big part of the sound. I think Cees Schrama plays the organ on Venus. He played a lot of studio sessions in The Hague at the time. Here's Cees with his own (short lived) band Casey and the Pressure Group:

The Hague was in the 60s for The Netherlands a very important town when it comes to pop music. We use the expression "Haagse beat" for the wave of bands coming from this city. The Golden Earrings (later Golden Earring), Q65, Tee Set and Shockin' Blue all came from the same quarters in The Hague (Zuiderparkbuurt), a lower middle class era. Here's a couple of songs from t

Perhaps the song that appeals to me the most on the Blue & Lonesome album. That's just a matter of taste of course. But man, do I love this track. If Matt is not playing the piano, is it Chuck then? Sounds like him.

First of all: the Who has always sounded better to me on stage than in the studio. Apart from Who's next and Quadrophenia I hardly listen to their studio albums. Second: I think Who by numbers (1975) is at least as weak as those 80s albums. Third: Whatever one might think of Dirty Work, it is not a dull album and it kicks some butt when it comes to guitar driven rock. It's Har

I tend to play Ronnies I feel like playing more often than any other solo album of any of The Stones. This, of course, means nothing to anyone, except for me it is a sign that Ronnie hit the right spot with this one. And I like it, yes I do.

Happy to celebrate the birthday of the man who sings perfect additions without being prominently present. Some say he's no Keith. Yeah, and he never claimed to be. He's just doing what he's there to do.

Atmosphere is everything on this song. I let them take me into the swamps, cast a spell on me and infect me with their lonesomeness. All I can do is drown with them in misery. Brilliant playing by the whole band.

I wish a lot of strength to those who are left behind. Yeah, Star Wars and the Blues Brothers. Flash back to my early teenage years... Tomorrow I had planned to see the new movie with my son. I'll shed a tear, I guess.

Best wishes to those who are left behind. Saw him once in Amsterdam. Fun is the best way to describe his attitude on stage. He was a good guitar player, certainly, but most of all he was having fun and radiated that to the audience.

Quotewonderboy You've got to lock Mick and Keith up on some island in the Caribbean with nothing to do for them to do so they can sit down and work together again. A small village in Italy proved very productive too!

QuoteSpud I still think that the important thing will be to carry a bit of the B&L method over to the new material. Playing & recording as a band in a real space, then O/D-ing whatever else is required onto an essentially complete track. That way of working would generate the best music, is my guess also. Inspire each other!

Apart from some obvious mistakes by the author, I like the information Keith gives about the general proces of creating songs. Especially the "none of them are autobiographical" statement raised some eyebrowes over here at my side.

I was driving home in my car last night, listening to Get Yer Ya-ya's Out! Exacrly at 0.00 (CET) Little Queenie was coming from my speakers. Perhaps his finest guitar Playing ever! Wat a way to start his birthday! Congratulations to us all, for having Keith among us, to make us happy.

QuoteDandelionPowderman The band comes out of this on both feet, revitalised, and ready for new adventures. Hopefully with a self-penned album. I also thought that was the intention. But, as time goes by, how will they keep the momentum? But it is encouraging that the album sells well. That might be an incentive to get back to the studio once more, set up the equipment like they did last t

Funny how the fifth bar starts still on the first chord and changes to the fourth on the second count (am I correct?). Gives the song a pleasant unpredictability, other than your standard 12 bar blues. Yeah, happy-sounding, indeed. A good way to start the album on good spirits. And 2 minutes and 16 seconds! Good songs don't need any more than that.

QuoteRonnie a series of intimate clubs around the "provinces" of England. Well, in 2012 the two shows at the O2 were visited by aproximately 32.000 fans. If they'd want to serve all these fans in small clubs (capacity 600?), they'd have to make it a 53 venues tour in the UK. That's about four months at the rate of 3 shows a week. I don't think all fans wi

Received the CD today and didn't stop playing it. They got me rocking! BTW, I was listening to a recording of Ronnie playing at the Blues Fest in London 2012, (Hammersmith Apollo) with Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman and they covered Just your fool that same show. I think Frank Mead does the vocals and harmonica. And that makes the circle round, because Frank played saxophone with Mick at

Quoteinterview When you've got the lead man calling the shots and saying, "I want to do that, I want to do this," keep the tape rolling." Funny, Keith calling Mick the lead man (I've never heard him suggesting that before) and meanwhile making clear that he was the one that led the lead man...

Bill plays some guitar on Apache Woman and Every Sixty Seconds according to the credits on his album Stone Alone. It is hard to distinguish the quality of his playing, though. According to his auto biography Stone Alone, he bought/hired himself a Burns guitar (for 52 English Pounds) around 1960, but was not satisfied about his own progess. Turned to bass after that. So I guess he knows
