QuoteEddieByword QuoteDandelionPowderman I don't think anyone in their right mind would call this "sounding tired" This 'competition' is all BS. I was there, 30 yards from the stage)....anyone who thinks the Stones were 'tired' or 2nd fiddle to LS are deluded. (Including members of LS) Yes, LS were amazing, no doubt but the Stones are in a class

The underlining Angels stuff in that article is incredible actually. Thanks @curt Do we all now agree Rock Scully (grateful dead) was the "mastermind" of organising the Angels?

QuoteDandelionPowderman "They're slacking off slightly, I like their older music best..." Funny isnt it? Just goes to show the band was perceived as being "past it" by some in 1973... I know some fans who only enjoy the 60's Stones

QuoteErik_Snow QuoteEleanor Rigby All Down The Line is my best moment...that music snippet is incredible...if only... The rest is extremely boring Yes, that snippet, it could had been the whole movie, I'd still go to the cinema just for that 1 minute Haha...maybe..but i might fall asleep and miss it. It is pure rock n roll...imagine a full concert like that...puts L&G to shame

QuoteDandelionPowderman Mick deserves an extra mention on this track. His vocals are superb - some of his best singing ever, imo Agreed!

QuoteTaylor1 This idea that Taylor overplayed on the 1973 tour is nonsense. It was superb. And where is the evidence they were playing longer shows in 1975 to compensate for Taylor. If anything Jagger over sings and overgrunts on record and in concert in 1973 No..my comment was not that he overplayed, but that it was the 'thing' in late 60s-early 70s for a virtuoso guitar playing...that

QuoteMathijs Quotedcba I agree. Imho in 75 the band (or Mick?) made one mistake : thinking they had to compensate for the loss of MT by playing much longer gigs. That led to gigs that sometimes lacked some energy (the punishing tour schedule didn't help...). 2Hrs top was more than enough for me. Leave the silly live marathons to Yes or Led Balloon. They were just following the trend o

QuoteMathijs QuoteRedhotcarpet QuoteLieB QuoteBig Al Quotecimaz Interesting thread. Agree partly with the analysis. In 1969 and 1972 the US tours went better and better after rather sloppy beginnings. 1973 european tour is a mixed bag with the british shows being very good (London 8 and Birmingham 1st particularly) and the end of the tour among their best ever (Brussels 1st of course). I par

On One Hit to the Body he does it on the line "did me some permanent harm" and on Ruthless people when he sings "It

Quoteyearsinthemaking The overdubs on the "Keep Your Motor Running" boot are terrible. They are so obvious and poorly done. I can't imagine those were anything other than raw early efforts that were not seriously considered for release. The overdubs on GYYYO and LYL are more polished but are still often awful (Happy and Keith adding backing for Tumbling Dice!!!) The overdubs o

Yep it has a 'theme' about it...like the Alfie songs. Seems like another song for a movie. There's no Keith on this. No Charlie. Dubious about any Ronnie on this also (although some parts sound RW-like) Still feel the vocals are 85...but happy to be wrong. Interesting...
