Hello from Biarritz, southwest France. I miss RevTwentyRedlights or SuperRevvy. Loved his posts! I was instrumental in his last return, but sadly he blew that one too.

The most fundamental reason, which defeated a lot of other performers, is that they were able to keep going physically. They haven't succumbed to illness, injury or disability. Secondly, motivation - they have been able to remain a cohesive enterprise unlike, say, the Beatles, who preferred to pursue solo projects rather than overcome their differences. I think if other seminal bands o

I was very lucky that 10 years ago quite by accident I discovered a new genre of music that I love passionately. It is a very rich field with a huge amount of material written and performed mostly by musicians in their 30s and 40s, although some have been going since the early 90s. It suits me better as a mature adult. Rock music was a big part of my adolescence and 20s and 30s, but I don't

Diminished would be a better word. Regarding a legacy, there's something to be said for ending a career, if not at your peak, at least not after you have been a long time in decline. I don't like to see actors who were known for their youthful beauty and charm but are now older and no longer attractive up on the screen, unless they have managed to transform themselves into a diff

Try to imagine if you were a tireless workhorse like Mick, running a massive company, and your business partner is a shambolic heroin addict>>alcoholic who wants an equal say in every management decision you want to execute. After 10-15 years of this, wouldn't you be screaming for your freedom?

It's amazing that none of Bill's thousands of hookups, many of whom surely must have been underage, have come forward. Again, not to ever defend an abuser of women, but considering the Stones' longevity, and considering the past excesses of other rock bands in this regard, eg Led Zeppelin, I would say that on the whole, the Stones treated women well. The fact that three of Mi

QuoteHis Majesty QuoteBliss One thing you can say to Mick's credit, and the rest of the RS as well, except Brian - no one has ever come forward and said they had been abused. This isn't true actually. Brian's recurring violence towards women has been well documented and he's been rightly called out for it. He clearly had issues that needing dealing with, but perhaps k

Great post, Rocky. >>>>The thing is when you look at celebrities who have been "ruined" when their past actions caught up with them, it's just the tip of the iceberg. It isn't just rock and roll. Incredibly wealthy, powerful, famous, insulated, and protected individuals can and do gravitate towards sex and drugs and, like most people if given the chance and seem

I liked L'Wren's dresses very much, although they only suited women with a similar build to her own (she was 183 cm and likely weighed no more than 55 kg). But the stagewear she designed for Mick..not too much. Too Liberace. Her philosophy was 'More is more, not less is more'. To me, nothing will surpass the stage clothes they had on the Voodoo Lounge tour.

But my commentary about L'Wren Scott's untimely death was information that was fairly well known, though clearly not by you. Look it up. You'll identify. Your "fairly well known"

I saw this last year. I was on the hippie trail at the same time as the events portrayed were happening. The series dragged on and on, needs better editing.

Mick can never write a song about the death of L'Wren because he was responsible for it - by not helping her with her serious depression, by not keeping her business from going under, and by hooking up with his latest girlfriend three weeks before L'Wren's suicide. The last thing he would want to do is relive all that.

Marianne is the only one of the Stones' long-term exes who seemed to have moved on emotionally after their Stones r'ships ended. She was married and has been with her French partner a long time. Bianca, Jo and Anita remained alone. I never liked her music, but find her intelligent, articulate and an incredible survivor - drug addiction, breast cancer, a heart attack, hepatitis-c, and
