QuoteBliss Anyway, Keith is a 70 year old man who is kind of out-of-date in his language. I mean, the word todger hasn't been heard since the 1950's. Saying someone is "out-of-date" with language is giving them quite the easy pass. Mostly they are "out-of-date" with intent as well and almost everything else.

Quotekahoosier Like Irelandcalling4 and others, that one line "I was King. Mr. Cool, just a snotty little fool, like kids are now" / "How the years they rush on by, Birthdays, Kids and Suicides.." has stuck with me through the years. I was only in my late 20's at the time, but I was starting to accept my career as an MD and suddenly starting to feel my years, way t

I suggest another look at DoomandGloom's fantastic post from yesterday "Reading through these posts I see a general disconnect between being a fan, enjoying the fantasy of the greatest band in the world and these people's real life troubles. By speculating you embarrass yourself, by stating the obvious you embarrass everyone here including the band. Comments contained here can

Quotedrewmaster A brilliant, latter-day Stones classic … every moment of it, that is, except the bridge. Those warm opening guitar strums are absolutely captivating; the reverie is heightened by those wonderful Hammond B3 notes from Billy Preston, creating a lush, gospel feel. Church is in session, and I am already in heaven before our preacher, Pastor Michael Philip Jagger, even begins his serm

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotenightskyman QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotenightskyman Brian at very least contributed the great recorder backing, and he and Keith apparently were involved in the recording session all the way through. There's not much available on the actual writing of the song that you can count on as the truth. But I don't care, it's just a great song either way.

Quotealimente Not only "nice", I think it's even "great", because it has the "swing" that the Stones themselves are not able to achieve in their own live versions anymore. This version swings and flows effortlessly along, whereas modern Stones versions sound clumsy and amateurish IMHO. It was a memorable SNL.

QuoteDoxa At least they tried. Namely, seriously reinvate and update their sound. That alone is a merit in my book even though the results are not so convincing. They haven't tried that much ever since. It was partly for that reason why retro-like VOODOO LOUNGE, and tracks like "Love Is Strong" sounded sonically so good at the time - the band at least sounding like good ole Stone

QuoteAquamarine That was really interesting, thanks for posting it. It struck me as strange, though, having read the longer version, that in the first version he didn't mention that Charlie was in the room! The "interviews' all seemed to have happened at different times. Hence Stefan’s' recollection is somewhat incomplete in one of the interviews. Here's a more

THE DESIGN GURU How did you enter design and music industry? Design and music are my two interests. As a teenager I was interested in the design of album covers. I studied design in Vienna and worked in a magazine. In 1993 I entered music industry. And met Mick Jagger? Oh yes. I can tell you about meeting Mr. Jagger. Jagger's assistant Lucy gave me a quick rundown on Mick an

QuoteFortuneTeller800 Thank you PM for posting this; and fielding some surprising reactions to it. I actually think Jagger said a good bit. he just has that laconic interview style. he's a pro. Also - I know that w/ Jagger it makes a huge difference if you SEE him say the words. I guess he assumes we, the readers know how to connect the dots. And therefore, he expects intelligence. I like

QuoteDoxa In the end, how authentic the letter or the diaries are, is not that important (I would say, the only importance is only 'aesthetical'; does that 'look' good or not). They don't prove anything, or give us any striking novelties, or contradict anything, but are just giving a bit contextual touch to the story" - Doxa In many ways – yes it is silly. It m

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteMathijs QuoteDandelionPowderman Keith' signature open G-playing has nothing to do with Cooder's style, not at all. No, Keith's signature playing was basically formed by Jagger. Take Brown Sugar, Sway and Stop Breaking Down. Mathijs That might be a bit of a hasty conclusion, as there are elements of this style to be found also in his stand
