If the Stones had quit in 1976, we would lose about 50% of their catalog and 40% of their greatest songs. While no single album blows me away, a compilation of the best of the Stones, post 1976 holds up well against the best rock/rock-n-roll put out by anybody in the music business since. For me Some Girls is a fun album but has a dated 70's sound while Tattoo You sounds fresh and fanta

I'd say Steel Wheels as well. Certainly brought them back from the brink of extinction. If not for the album and the tour that followed, the Stones today would be more like the Who. Out of sight and out of mind.

I wasn’t going to post my opinion on Infamy but I finally have to let it out and say it out aloud. Some friends were over last weekend and I was playing a Bigger Bang to get them to pay more attention to the Stones. I actually considered stopping and not playing Infamy but then I let it play just to see what response it elicited. A couple of them were intrigued by the opening but soon started l

Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili peppers on becoming the next Rolling Stones: "They've made great music, but they don't seem like something I'd like us to be. They don't seem to have a real band unity. I don't know that they enjoy the process as much." This is really sad but sounds true. Bono said something to the same effect in his long interview i

The first Stones album that I bought as well. Also the last Stones attempt to re-invent themselves and extend their musical range. The extended version of "She Was Hot" (I only have the radio broadcast and the sound is terrible) is the band at its best. I have yet to hear anyone come up with a better fusion of Rock, dance and New Wave. I wish they would put this out in some *rarities*

All The Way Down = 7/10. The weakest song on a great great album. Undercover is the last truly great Stones album. Song for song, it still stands up amazingly well against anything that the Stones have done (except the big 4) The Stones lost their identity in the 80's but musically this album is a tour-de-force. The PRODUCTION IS ACTUALLY QUITE AMAZING. Maybe the best dance rock albu

Thanks. Nothing earth shattering but not too bad either. Essential for the "completists" though. Thanks again

Excellent tune - mature lyrics and simply great vocals on both versions. I love his lines "I'm as proud as a Lion in his Lair" It's too bad that Jaggers's solos get little or no recognition when in fact, for the last 12 + years, he seems to have saved up his best for his solo efforts. Just seems more energized and focused.

The overall sound on It's Only Rock'n Roll is rather muffled/muted. On "Time Waits For No One", I also hear some scratching sounds at the start of the song (I have a vinyl version as well and I hear it on this too). Is this a problem with my CD or the original recordings?. There are lots of stories on how things went wrong with the sound on this album. Is there however some

Tennis is my *other* obsession. Federer (like Jagger) is a friggin' genius :-) So it doesnt matter who makes it to the final. Haas might be more competitive against Federer but I think that Gonzales might continue his run and beat Haas in the semis. That forehand of his is really working.

Flip The Switch is simply terrible. Too forced and along with You Got Me Rocking, it represents the worst of the Stones. Everything that went wrong with the Stones is embodied in these 2 songs and turns people off the Stones. I often find myself defending the greatness of the Rolling Stones but deep down though, I'm always worried that somewhere, my friends will discover "Flip the Sw

Lots of gems in Micks solo discography (even on She’s the Boss and Primitive Cool) It is truistic to say that every track on Wandering Spirit is nothing short of amazing. As for, Goddess in the Doorway, despite wanting to look/sound contemporary cool/ambient ( esp on the titel track), there are some absolutely brilliant songs. God gave me everything is as good as anything Mick has ever writ

I registered onto this forum just to reply to this post. Undercover is what turned me on to the Stones. Undercover was my introduction to the Stones at age 13 and it was the first Stones album that I bought. I have been hooked since then. The machine gun rattle that opens the title song still echoes in my head like it is 1983. I just love this album and just dont undertand the mixed feelings a
