Flip The Switch is simply terrible. Too forced and along with You Got Me Rocking, it represents the worst of the Stones. Everything that went wrong with the Stones is embodied in these 2 songs and turns people off the Stones. I often find myself defending the greatness of the Rolling Stones but deep down though, I'm always worried that somewhere, my friends will discover "Flip the Switch* and *You Got me Rocking* and all my defenses will be lost. These 2 songs almost legitimize every criticism heaped upon the Stones by far less illustrious bands such as Bon Jovi, REM, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

The lyrics.. shaving kit.. toothbrush, mouthwash...Butcher cutting up meat...
represent an all time low and simply make me cringe. Making a warhorse out of You got me Rocking is an added insult. Am glad that they didn’t do that with Flip the Switch. I generally like B2B a lot and VL is alright as well. However, these 2 songs are the 2 worst rock songs in the Stones canon.

I am always trying to convert some serious music lovers (who simply don't get the Stones) into Stones fans and am making a huge 200 song “Definitive Collection” spanning all 44 years. These 2 songs will surely be omitted and I wish they simply never existed.

I disagree... from the title, it _seems_ like another opening-track, "Start Me Up," "Get Me Rocking," "Wired All Night" by-the-numbers song. To the extent that it's an uptempo rocker, you're right, but the lyrics are more clever--it's "flip the switch" on the electric chair, not "flick of the switch" like AC/DC, a more cliched sentiment for a hard rock band. Granted, it takes a real listen to hear that the song is not crap. It might have been a nice idea to start with something different for a change.

Flip the Switch, Low Down, Too Tough and especially How Can I Stop are the only four tracks that survived the ten years since the release of B2B.

I pressume you mean Too Tight? There are more great tracks on that one I think. Already Over, the B-side (anyway you look at it), Thief In The Night, Saint.

Bridges just sucks. The whole thing blows. Yes they take some chances, but the songs suck. You can change styles, arrangements, structures...... but in the end the music has to work. Mick ruined one of Keith's song on Voodoo by saying "He who takes chances surly must fall." Well the Beatles took chances from 1964 to 1970 and did not fall. Mick solo work, his solo type stones songs suck. On Bridges, to be fair, Keith also sucked. "Saint of Me" could have been a good song but, but Mick doesn't realy have a good ear for how a good song should go. The song sound good at times, but starting with "St Paul the persecutor was cruel and sinful man, Jesus hit him with a blinding light and then his life began." It's like some aweful lyrics a religious music teacher comes up with in elementary school. All imho!

I like B2B quite a bit, but do not consider this song a highlight by any stretch of the imagination. And it definitely does not sound "faster" than Rip This Joint.


And Wandering Spirit---I have the same reaction to "You Got Me Rocking"....similar to a dog at a fireworks display.

Bridges is cool. It kindda runs dry near the end, but it's saved by those two amazing Keef cuts. Lots of great stuff on it.

Boring on record. In fact IMO, the version on B2B is really bad. But live, it works better. Still a mediocre stones song IMO.

Not to mention the fact that the three songs they did not perform live are pretty damn good themselves. I have been beating this drum quite a bit on this board, but as an album B2B (warts and all) is only behind the big 4 from the golden years and Some Girls IMO.

Back to subject: Flip the Switch is very good, rocking song, people seem to forget many true rockers much too early. I mean, who else than we in this board remembers for example "Going to a Go_Go"?

Maybe a provocative question, but just so many forgotten good songs.. Hoping the the best in that way to Flip the Switch

How could you write off Mick like that? He's a great songwriter, even better than Keith, I must admit. And Saint Of Me is their best song in the last 26 years.

B2B is great all the way through, the greatest latter-day Stones album they have put out.
