QuoteJumpinJackOLantern Quoteslew Mick is always very guarded in what he has to say. Part of what makes him facsinating and somewhat of a mystery. Frustrating is the word that comes to mind. About fanship, one point: One should not control one's idols!

I hope for new song material. However, there are some problems about the conditions. As I have said in another thread: ................................. New material distributed in the ordinary way through an album meets with a stumbling stone. The albums are bought by people usually not wanting to hear new songs during concerts, even if some of them might think that repetion of the socalle

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotebuffalo7478 A lot of members of IORR have invested lots of time and money in seeing the Stones over the years. Many (including me) have heard Miss You, Satisfaction, Start Me Up, etc a few times too many, and would prefer to hear other songs from the band's extensive back catalog. They have not done anything to 'add' to some of the warhorses in years

QuoteHavo in my opinion they should do at least 5-6 of their so called "warhorses" in every concert. I know, I know--we heard satisfaction--brown sugar-JJF-SMU or TD a lot of times. But stadium or Arena shows are totally different. Come on---everybody of you is clapping the hands , when they start with SMU! these are songs, which 85% of the audience would like to hear!!! By the way-

QuoteGravityBoy "NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR SONGS FROM YOUR NEW ALBUM" Valid and possibly important point, Thinking along the same line, it is why I wrote in a post in another thread; ............................................The rather enthousiastic reception to the two new songs of 2012, apart from what there was of song quality and finishing recording effort, may have had much to do

A thought:It might have been interesting if Mick wrote a new song, where lady Gaga would have shared part of the vocals.

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteJumpinJackOLantern Quotestringpull MJ sounded cold cold cold. Maybe it is time to put it to bed cause they'll never be as great as they are right now. It took alot of time, work,PR and money to get to get to the PPV. Then maybe they can start eating solid food for the first time in 50 years .....Keith is a little ahead of them. My moment of sentimentality eventually: For the latest 50 years of my life, "There've been good times There've been bad times" But all this time there've been the Rolling Stones! Simply, thank you!

I suggest another title that makes possible quite opposite interpretations and therefore no distinct sentimentality: "Not Fade Away"

QuoteJumpinJackOLantern QuoteDeathgod I saw that TV int earler. Mick looks done. It's obvious he and Keith haven't been mates for eons. We all knew, but it was sad to hear about the writing.playing together days have long passed. I kinda got the feeling he can't wait for this 50 thing to end. I will be sad if this last gig is the LAST gig, but I tip my hat to a bunch of guys

I would have liked that they during the first two days might have been working on a new song or two! Supposing them now to be in the direction of their best form!

In parantheses for this thread's theme, but indicative of the band's ability to come back: I quote only an excerpt of your own post, Fan Since 1964, because my impression is that you by accident might have made a mess of your own quotation: QuoteFan Since 1964 The energy was bad at that time! The Stones sounded horrible at Ullevi in 1982! Pitch dark withour any connection to thei

Quotesteffiestones We all know that the guys are not young anymore, anyway, the two London shows was fantastic! But for sure, the time will comes that they say, it's finish, done, thanks for everything, bla bla bla...Are we prepared for that moment? NO! As long as there are signs of life musically from the band or its individual members, why should I or we think that way? Rejoice fully

QuoteStoneage Now that we know what we are getting: 1/3 rarities and new songs (D&G and OMS), 2-3 guestspots (incl old stones) and 2/3 standard repertoire; Was it worth the extra pounds and dollars spent on tickets? Did the show extravaganza compensate for the sky-high ticket prices? Are you Americans still eager to pay 3 times more than ordinary prices for your tickets? Just wondering...

QuoteBlue She Smiled Sweetly is kind of a unique song with an unusual organ, It really grows on you, it's not Rock and Roll but I like it! In its time I for one did not become fan of the Stones from one moment to the next. That was instead the result of a process in fact that took a couple of years, starting as early as 1964. "She Smiled Sweetly" was the very song that ended the

One must feel sorry for them that are called whiners. We must not be harsh with them. They can't have an easy time, given the level of the first concert (as far as I have heard it).

Usually in connection with Stones concerts, I hope for variation , not too many warhorses and so many newer songs as possible. Until tonight I have only listened to songs from the first concert through the PC at my work. But tonight, tonight!!! Now I can say; Some of the warhorses sound completely revitalized. It is as if this was a concert on the first tour they were played, so fresh do

Quotebuttons67 in the 70,s the stones used to play around 16-17 songs per gig on a particular tour and with the exeption of 1 or 2 at most, the setlist was the same every night. dont agree with doing this when at the time they had a back catalogue of around 200 songs, so why stick to the same few. Not meant as any critique directed to the band: However, the more constant setlist for conc

I wonder, I wonder: Might the Rolling Stones become a three guitar band for a possible ensuing album and then for concerts during 2013! What about two guitars doing some kind of underlying weaving and a solo guitar on top of that? Wish thinking, of course, from one, that is not attending any of the four concerts of 2012.

I am pleased by the fact that both the new songs were played. Usually I like to hear even more songs from later years. However, on the present occasion to me the two new songs take as starting point for a new possible development of the band stylistically the period of their transition from their late 60s singles to the '68 - '72 albums. Then, paradoxially, it is in harmony with

Quotehbwriter QuoteThroughTheLonelyNights Quotehbwriter MT and BW notwithstanding - I think the setlist peaked at Paint it Black - the show sounds solid - but got very predictable very fast- come on - let's be objective - at this point, 15 tunes are regulars - and will probably end up about 17 - show sounds great- but i don't get the celebration of the setlist I think you are right.

Doxa, you are the main reference to a post that I somewhat delayed wrote on “One More Shot”. However, too little of the resulting possible post was related to the song itself. I abstained from posting it. Now I found reason to post it here with the hope to inspire you to make an answer if you want to. (The two last and added paragraphs are directly addressed to Doxa.) Listen to the musical representation of coming down again on "Coming Down Again". Its sheer greatness at that representation. The feeling and mood of the song. In one approach to GOATS HEAD SOUP,take this song as the key track of the album, and listen to the album in the light of such an interpretation.

Many of you have given me pain by making me read your negative choices. I can't believe many of them. A couple I can understand, but all the same I do disagree. Now it's my turn to provoke one or two of you with mine: "Melody" (because of some of the singing on it) "Tops" There is no other worst song than these, I think. In my own secluded world I am the
