Has to be the Beastie Boys hands down, as someone else has already mentioned they started out as a New York Punk/Hardcore band and they still play instruments now. They're more than just a Rap/Hip-Hop group. They've done some amusing and good covers live: Oasis - Wonder Wall Billy Joel - Big Shot Elton John - Benny and the Jets To name a few. They've also played and tour

I think it will be one of the following: Oakland 69 Leeds 71 Atlantic City 89 Need to look at the evidence so far we've had a 73, 75, 81 show and if you count live in Texas a 78 show. If you go as far as counting Ladies & Gentlemen a 72 show although only as a DVD. I think they will try and fill the gaps and try and go for a year that hasn't yet be represented. And as somebo

Do you think the Stones might be gearing up for another official release? Seems to me that they're releasing all the stuff that's circulating on mass on bootleg as a way to combat it. Brussels, LA, Hampton, Ladies & Gentlemen, Live in Texas. It will be interesting to see what the next archive release is, that might give us some further indication.

I love this thread, unfortunately I have no idea where to start as there are so many! I can eliminate loads, for starters the likes of One Direction I don't even consider to be bands so they're really not even worth any kind of mention. The 2 actual bands that spring to mind for being completely overrated are: The Beatles Queen Never got the appeal of those 2 enough said!

QuoteHonestman QuoteMILKYWAY ... why does it have a year listed? i don't think that is right. yep it's strange, but it has been sold this way , so fake or not that's the question It was on the American version of Antiques Roadshow, there's a clip on YouTube it's original. There are other such examples of items from other concerts and tours with the year on them.

Quotememphiscats This actor looks like a great pick as Jagger...and as I suggested in another thread, perhaps Russel Brand might be an OK choice for Keith. The film would have to better than the book...I think...I hope...I pray. Russell Brand's teeth are too good lol

Quotestoneslib I don't have many 1969 pics but I just love this one for the colors: Venue, photographer unknown. Thanks! That's a great photo and one I've never seen before, but have seen another pic of Mick wearing that top, probably from the same show. Would love to know which show it's from.

Palace Revolution 2000 I have photos of all the venues from the tour but I've been searching for photos taken as close to 1969 as possible. I can't seem to find any of Auburn from around 69. I've only managed to find that same photo. Chicago and Detriot are proving to be the same problem. Thanks for posting it though. Maybe there's somebody on here that studied at Auburn or

I got tuned in and became a fan in 93 when I was coming up to 16. I was never a fan of any of the post 73 live material to start with, although I did buy Love You Live and I've always liked the El Mocambo tracks. It was a few years after that I started listening to the 75/76 stuff and started to like it. Saying that I didn't get Exile at all the first time I heard it. I think it comes f

Quotestoneslib To help with this question, I consulted local microfilm of a San Diego underground paper of the time, San Diego Free Door. Their November 6, 1969 issue has this ad, which states the "only" SD show was the 8:30 pm on November 10. This suggests the planned November 11 afternoon show was indeed dropped and did not occur. Harold It was an add on show due to popu

Quotecrumbling_mice I didnt realise until recently that there are two versions on the official cd...one runs at around 3 minutes and the other about 6 minutes...very weird! Does anyone know why this came about etc? Yes this came about when Virgin remastered the back catalogue from Sticky Fingers onwards in the early 90's. They went back to the vaults and used the original masters. If some

Shame they didn't play it on the 81 tour. I think Worried about you and Tops are close behind it. Definitely the best 3 tracks off of Tattoo you

I decided to email Ron Schneider and I just got this reply. Hi Dan QuoteRon Schneider Hi Dan I didn't see the debate... the Vegas stop was an impromptu stop on the return from Phoenix--- Phoenix hadn't sold out as the promoter picked it up late and didn't promote so it was a bit disappointing.  The only way to enliven the moment was a stopover in Vegas.  The captain said i

I've been looking through at the 70/71 tour photo thread. I've spent many hours scanning the net and my collection of books looking for photos from the 69 tour. It would be nice to see more photos taken by fans that were at shows on that tour. I wasn't even a twinkle in my fathers eye in 69. He was lucky enough to see them in 63 and 65. Had I of been let's say 26 years olde

QuoteFRANCKY The gambling in Vegas was on the night of November 11/12 so AFTER the Phoenix show and NOT before... Yes thank you FRANCKY that's how I understood it, the scan of the newspaper article earlier on in this thread conflicts with another article I read somewhere online which states the stop in Vegas was after the Phoenix show. Not to mention the Ron Schneider post from 2009 "

QuoteCome On How important is covers? If I'd like to listen to Berry-songs I prefer Chucks recordings...no-one comes even close to his own version of for example 'Sweet little sixteen' or 'Johnny B.Goode'...btw did you know Berry himself covered Route 66? I totally agree can't beat Chuck's originals. But I'd say the next best thing to Chuck doing one

Ok I'm braced ready, roll on the abuse. But seriously who gives a crap I didn't join this board to chat about the Beatles nursery rhyme like music. Now if it had been some lost Stones tape like a soundboard recording of Auburn 69 or the missing 2:30pm San Diego show from 11th Nov that would be worth starting a thread about.

Just found this on Shidoobee QuoteMusic-history books and websites report that the Rolling Stones visited San Diego ten times to date, but tour posters and handbills have turned up that shed light on a little-known 11th concert a matinee on November 11, 1969. San Francisco music archive Wolfgang's Vault has a Randy Tuten-designed, 14" X 22" Rolling Stones concert poster for No
