To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty QueenElizabeth II: In light of your immediate failure to financially manage yourselves and also in recent years your tendency to elect incompetent Presidents of the USA and therefore not able to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. Quotealimente Quotejamesjagger Yesterday I listened to the new records by Ian Hunter, Bob Dylan, ZZ-Top. All records sound good especially ZZ-Top. Rubin has made them sound so well. But I don't think those albums are needed anymore. No outstanding songs. An ongoing repetition of what we all know already. If we wouldn't know their names nobody would care. Mark Knopfler even pulled out

They've used country flavored instruments like pedal steel, lap steel, dobro and mandoline. I can't recall any banjo though. Am I missing something?

Re: The Black Crowes new Posted by: Whale () Date: December 11, 2011 00:53 Got myself a Crowes record: warpaint live. Today. But I was slightly disappointed. Why is that Whale? It's one I'm curious about 'cause I've never heard it (nor de studio record of Warpaint). Not enough good songs? Long jams?

There was a really great version of 'Miss You,' which is almost jazz," Richards says of one surprise the band found in the vault. "Mick didn't like his vocal on that. I would have loved to put that on, just because it's so different from the other one. But at the same time Mick said, 'No, I'm not cutting it.' The same would happen to me. … We go into a

Yes, I really dig the '78 versions on Handsome Girls. The feel of the song is very different from the (imho beautiful) '69 versions (less different from '72). As Tomk stated, it's not just Wood, it's also in the sound of the keyboards,Richard's guitar (Fender in 78 I guess, Gibson before?),Jagger's singing etc. All together a more 'countryfied' version

I really like the stringparts on MM. How was that done? The record inlay of Sticky Fingers says P. Buckmaster: strings. Zentgraf's site appoints Paul Buckmaster as the 'arranger' of strings. I wonder who's actually playing the strings (and I'm not even sure if these are real strings they're talking about). Anyone?

The book's got a 5 star review 2day in 1 of the biggest Dutch newspapers "De Volkskrant", claiming that "Life" is as important as Keiths music.

If you come across it: buy it as well. Better for the magazine and better for you, 'cause it contains a fantastic CD with great artists playing great songs in the spirit of the Rolling Stones. Highly recommended!

Quotejigsawp How should anyone do that nearly 40 years later?? Well, on Exile the vocals are burried in the mix. If they keep it that way, it might turn out ok.

Must have been tough for Joe Perry, but still it's a crazy idea to find another singer and pretend it's Aerosmith.

I have a Deville 2 x 12 (not a hod rod). The clean channel is not really clean, but souds good for blues and rock (not metal) if you can play it loud. For small clubs I use a "Hotplate" before the speaker, to turn down the volume. But they're not cheap. If your main goal is to use it at home and small clubs, I would advice you to go for the Blues jr.

I think TP is great live. I really enjoyed the Running down a dream DVD. What bothers me is the huge price difference between the normal Live Antholoy (€ 29.99 for four disks) and the deluxe edition (€ 109.99 for six disks).

I'm not the biggest U2 fan in the world, but I liked this movie very much. It was a great experience, close to being at the concert watching from the front row, from the side of the stage, from above etc. I wish the Stones had done this.

Only one complaint: I think they should've mixed Bill's bass louder. It's got very little bass. Something to fix with the remaster!

Quoteliddas Is it only me or are they 2 open g guitars in Knocking? C Yes Liddas, they've edited Ronnie's rhythm-guitar out of the first part. If you listen with headphones, you'll hear Richards' riffs on the left AND right channel at the same time time. I know he's great and all that, but Keith weaving with Keith? Nah.

Wild Horses is beautiful. Great to see 'em singing the chorus together. Great guitarsolo by Wood. Thanks for posting this.
