I remember being impressed by their Live Aid II show. I thought they were much better than many younger bands.

Quoteliddas Is it only me or are they 2 open g guitars in Knocking? C Yes Liddas, they've edited Ronnie's rhythm-guitar out of the first part. If you listen with headphones, you'll hear Richards' riffs on the left AND right channel at the same time time. I know he's great and all that, but Keith weaving with Keith? Nah.

QuoteChrisM QuoteMatt I also hope for a total remix of the album. The sound is muddy, even in mono ( Mats Mono? There were mono tracks from Exile? Please tell us more! Some songs on Exile, like Shake your hips and All down the line, are (almost completely) mixed in mono.

Wild Horses is beautiful. Great to see 'em singing the chorus together. Great guitarsolo by Wood. Thanks for posting this.

I believe that the basic tracks of ABB were recorded on a laptop at Mick's castle. Great post by Beelyboy. I also still record drums, bass and rhyhmguitar on an analogue 8 track Machine, before transferring to digital on a Tascam DA78 recorder. Beely, I'm very interested in your remarks about DAT. I've always felt my DAT tapes sounded very good and warm. Even recording a CD

MT's rhythm playing is simple indeed, but I must say it's very effective on songs like LWM, Carol or SFTD on YaYa's. I mean, I would be very pleased if RW would play SFTD like that and KR would play the riffs he did on YaYa's!

I'm with Liddas here. The Crowes just love the Stones, like we do. And on a good night they're a great band. A few months ago I posted a thread about Chris Robinson telling that he had just listened to a 1972 Stones bootleg of a Philidelphia show and how he thought that was the best rock 'n roll show there has ever been.

Since you guys know a lot about Dylan, I have a question for you. I have a limited amount of his music. Some of it I really love, some of it I don't. My fav's: Planet waves, Desire, Street legal, Live 75. I also love Blood on the tracks, the live '66 album and the 1st live album of the Rolling Thunder tour. My Dylan albums I don't really enjoy: Good as I've been t

I agree, anyway as far as the music's concerned. Back to the blues. My live favorites of the last decade: Many versions of familiar songs on Stripped Back of my hand (great slide by Jagger) Can't be satisfied Corrina The "blues version" of 19th NB I think it's an old coat that still fits them perfectly.

Interesting. From Nico Zentgrafs site: Line-up ‘Summer Romance’: MJ (voc, gtr)/KR (gtr, bvoc)/RW (gtr)/BW (bass)/ CW (dr)/STU (p) So who is playing it?

Listened to ER the other day in the car. What a great bassparts, especially on Summer Romance, where in the verses Bill plays on the backbeat (the snare) instead of on the kick, as most players would do. It's almost like the bass is the 'leadguitar'. I wish they would use Bill again, if only for recording. Then he would not have to fly.

The band I'm in has got 3 pro juniors, a simple version of the blues junior. All 3 sound different by the way. The BJ 's got more knobs (for bass control if I remember well). The PJ's got only one control for tone, but that's fine. Great sound for recording and small gigs.

Great rhythm guitar playing by Keith. The sound of the record is too harsh due to primitive digital recording. On the radio they played two Stones tracks back to back this morning. She's like a rainbow en then ME. Rainbow sounded warm and fat. ME sounded much thinner, recorded more than 20 years later!

I think I know what you mean Canadian. Thats's why I allow myself only limited consumption of Stones records. I force myself to keep away from Exile, Ya ya's etc. for weeks. And then I sit down, late at night, all peace and quiet, pick one and really listen, using headphones, a happy man.
