QuoteRoom1009 It is a question I have been asked a few times over the years, but I only now feel confident to answer. For me, it has to be Star Star (ok, Starfcuker). It has everything a stones song should have: the Chuck Berry riff, the attitude, some tongue-in-cheek lyrics, a great pace and a song that just sounds better every time I hear it. This does surprise a lot of non-Stones friends who o

QuoteGazza Its absolutely brilliant on that show, and throughout that tour. This was also the first tour they'd ever performed it. Played way too rarely ever since. ...with the possible exception of Phoenix, AZ. It's a 7 minute train wreck. Mick goes to the bridge, the band goes to the chorus. Mick goes to the chorus, the band goes to the bridge. On top of that, it sounds like one

QuoteBluzDude But who's the guy not pictured doing most of the singing? Bobby Bandiera is singing lead vocals from the right of the stage. He's a Jersey shore musician and is instrumental in the charity hosting this concert.

Just sitting here getting some pre-holiday work done and listening to Phoenix 1981. While Hampton, VA is accepted as the best from that tour, this show is smokin'. One thing I love about being a Stones fan is "rediscovering" stuff you haven't listened to in a while because the catalogue (official and not official) is so vast. Cheers.

It's unclear from your post whether or not you're aware that Maureen Faulkner is Officer Danny Faulkner's widow. BV has warned on numerous occasions against threads of a political nature, which this is quickly becoming. Mumia Abu-Jamal was found guilty of killing Philadelphia Police Officer Danny Faulkner. End. Of. Story.

QuoteGazza Quotesweetcharmedlife That's the first I've heard that rumour Gazza. I really don't think he needs many more muscians. Band's already pretty big...And I certainly don't want to see some SSB hybrid. I think its more a case of one or two band members being unavailable, rather than anything else. Gazza - do you have specifics re: this info? The most logical gu

I've always liked "It's Only Rock n Roll" despite the relatively poor production and the fact that it wasn't that well received.

Quotestonesrule If you saw the Stones on their 1970 tour of Europe then you heard "Down the Line" live. It was great then and has certainly stood the test of time. Agree that ADTL has stood the test of time quite well. The 73 and 78 versions were, of course, hot and raw. But ADTL is one of my favorite songs from Shine a Line. (Charlie's exasperated sigh at the end is a great mom

"According to..." was released to complement the Forty Licks tour, which partly explains why BW isn't included.

Interesting thread. My take on it is this: Berry is clearly the better musician and clearly the better songwriter. But there is a reason that millions pass through Graceland every year and that some people treat January 8 and August 16 like Christmas and Easter. In my opinion, the reason that EP is revered as the king is that he exuded a charisma that no entertainer matched before or since. He wa

As an acoustic guitar player, the "warhorses" are a stretch for me. But I enjoy playing Dead Flowers, Wild Horses, Sweet Virginia, and Just My Imagination (stones version) which is basically two chords. Nice threat.

It doesnt just mean "passing your peak" (you seriously believe the Stones havent reached their peak yet? ). It means that theyve passed it to the point where its become ridiculous...or "funda

With so many Stones boots available from their 4 decade career, I generally limit my collection to soundboard/radio broadcasts. I realize that I may be missing out on some gems, but there are so many great soundboard shows to form a pretty good retrospective of their career. Just my opinion.

QuoteJustinCREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL! I love this band. If not the biggest or the best, most definitely the most underrated American band. John Fogerty was and is a genius. Their output for the 3 and half years of their existence (roughly 67-71) is mind-boggling.

QuoteJustinQuotedjI find it kind of hard to believe that "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" wouldn't be included on a list such as this. It is a fairly all-inclusive list, though. Well as much as it is an iconic riff...it's hardly as fun to play as the what they chose: "Brown Sugar" and "Can't You Hear Me Knockin" After playing the opening riff to
