all Keith has been able to do for a looong while is sing a few ballad tempo songs and noodle on the guitar. Mick is not gonna have a Keith Richards three or four song mini set..Until Keith can at least appear to be playing nearly as much as Blondie I cannot imagine why Mick would want to play live with Keith. I would bet the (non)rehearsals for SNL conformed Mick's index that Keith is not up

I saw a nice MIM Strat for under $300 at The Music Store (on Irving park rd) in Chicago......those are very under rated guitars.....I really like my Martin 00015 for fingerpicking etc. lots of small retainers are suffering right now so great deals are everywhere. I just picked up a few stomp boxes from a store that is going out of business in Texas...Tone Factor,

Stanley Clarke and many others have said ronnie's bass playing with Jeff beck was an inspiration...Ronnie is very musical and is a damn cool player. Still crazy about Bill's playing too though

gram wrote some great songs..perhaps showed the boys a few things about Bakersfield versus nashville and when he was on he was a very touching singer...when he was bad he was pretty awful..there are a few GP concerts floating around and a few Burritos shows on which he sings nicely. Broken hearted sort of voice.

very cool..I spoke with barrelhouse chuck after the Hubert gig and he said Keith was amazingly nice and very complimentary about his playing. I sent that private jet video along to BC.....he loved that

Last waltz was not at the fillmore it was at winterland..backstage they had a coke room with groucho glasses and noses on the wall for decoration.. Ron was out of hand in 81 82 among other years..he looks well for him on his radio show tv episodes...flinchy and edgy but not wiped out.

Jim Gordon taught Charlie the move in which on the three when he hits the snare drum he leaves off the hihat hit....Jim Kelter uses this as well...also Charlie cannot play a roll so one gets all those weird fills that are all over Sone Girls and emotional rescue.....Charlie's pocket from following Keith with Bill weaving in there gives the Stones that special touch..that is in part why since

Ronnie was a mess all tour...the seattle shows and then the 82 european shows were hyper sloppy......Charlie seems drunk too BTW although this was to my ear about the end of his best period.

the frets in that picture look like the stock frets on a late 70s Tele to me....wider that other eras. I had a Tele regretted recently and the repair guy decided that he was using those without telling me...he ended up buying me a new neck with the frets I wanted and had had on that Tele...I have never read nor heard Keith talk about his fret board. I have assumed that he can play anything after

in 64 on the Mike Douglas Show they used a bunch of rented blond Fender piggy back amps..that is the earliest I can recall them using bigger gear...in Europe they used the Vox gear they endorsed.

the song 44 blues is in 4/4 time BUT the structure of the song is odd. I have not counted it out in a while but I think it is 27 and a half bars long......Lots of great old blues numbers have oddities like that. One just has to know the forms. The drum hits are based on parade beats. I play this song a lot.

wow James Cotton has lost a lot of weight..he is still big but not unreal heavy...He is still the super harp as well. One of my biggest heroes....Spoonful is pretty cool for a public jam deal. Clapton voices is in great shape..perhaps the best singer of his generation in terms of where his pipes are nowadays. I wish he'd dirty up his guitar a bit more though

Yes I meant a Tube screamer......he also employs a wah pedal at times but "notches" it...set it to spike his EQ someplace....this clip sounds like that to me a bit. Zappa did that especially well IMO. MT did that a bit on the 73 tour.

when I saw MT in 84 he was playing through two 100 watt Marshall stacks wide open with a series of Boss pedals including a flanger delay chorus EQ (as a boost which was crazy since he was insanely LOUD) and an Ibanez green OD pedal. I looked over his stuff before he hit the stage...I also cannot hear exactly what he is using to shape his tone but I hear a Les Paul up loud enough to compress a bit

as a Chicagoan I hope never to hear a large jam version of Sweet Home Chicago again.....Mick was head of the class last night IMO.....Jeff Beck over powers everyone as usual. I had hoped for a harp player beyond Mick playing on miss you and apparently they do not have a piano at the White House.

watch the reels that are on the extended Ya Yas set......like the filming of the Last Waltz the camera operators took time out to reload the film (how quaint) and keep the gear right.those things were heavy and got hot..I genuinely doubt there was not complete coverage. I do wish there were though
