Keith definitely gives Charlie "the look" to end the song, but it seems Charlie ended sooner than Keith intended. Keith is laughing as he flips Charlie off. I think this is just a good-natured "$%@! you" between long-time friends and bandmates. No one else could get away with it.

No Security. The video of the guys in the empty warehouse...riding up in the freight elevator...then, Keith striding onstage ripping off the opening riff to JJF.

Accompanied Truman Capote for some dates on the '72 tour. In Greenfield's "S.T.P." Keith refers to her as "Princess Radish."

I was 14 in '71 and got this for Christmas. Whenever I hear a song off of SF, I'm right back there. Christmas lights, snow, candles, home from school on holiday break, smoking a joint in my room and listening to Side 2 through headphones. Moonlight Mile is sublime. I still get chills at the climax.

Quotehopkins I do remember the days when Truman Capote and a lot of literary figures were trying to get in on the Stones' massive rock and roll party. I believe Capote got onto the '72 tour because he was going to write a piece on it. He hated the experience and had nothing good to say. He never finished the article.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Anita wanted her and Keith to marry in a Black Mass. She got Keith to go with her and meet with a priest from a Satanic church who explained the ceremony to them. It freaked Keith out and they never went back.

I saw the Milwaukee show along with a couple of first-timers who still talk about how cool it was. Does the DVD include the excellent intro video?

I bought this as a 2 LP set. I listened to the first side, then put it away. I've never listened to the entire thing. Always meant to listen to the rest but...oh, well. What am I missing out on?

Note that Brian's vision of his band did not include a second guitar. I remember reading somewhere that Keith only got into the band because Mick wouldn't join without him.

The current season (series) of Call the Midwife is set in 1963. I dug through my Stones chronologies, including Bill's list in the back of Stone Alone. I couldn't find any '63 gigs at a place called the Regal. Just wishful thinking that the writers might have referenced an actual concert! (Timothy, unfortunately, gets grounded for breaking curfew and misses the show. But, at the en

QuoteStonesSoCal I like the story about Circus being in Ian Stewart's garden shed in a wheelbarrow...odd. I have absolutely no evidence to the contrary, but this sounds like one of Keith's "stories"--like Muddy Waters painting the ceiling at Chess. Film cans in Stu's garden shed? Really?

I ran across a Chicago Facebook group with one guy talking about seeing the Stones at a local bar in '69 "jamming" with Jefferson Airplane. I want some of what he was smoking.

QuoteDandelionPowderman I meant Melody Maker: «[....] The rest of the set is built on the emotional platform created by that number ["Midnight Rambler"] A new song follows, "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", fast and jumpy in the same vein as "Jumpin Jack Flash" marred only by some flat picking by Keith on his plexiglass model. His gutty tone makes way for Tay

Keith has had a fascination with cowboys and the American West going back to his childhood. Could something Gram or the Burritos did inspire him to write a country tune? Of course. I have never read anything that even hints at Gram and Keith collaborating on a song the Stones recorded.

According to Greenfield's account of Nellcote, Jagger resented Parson's presence at the house. He was seen as a hanger-on, monopolising Keith's time and trying to weasel his way into the band's inner circle. I can't imagine Mick allowing Parsons anywhere near a recording session. Gram spent most of his time getting very wasted and fighting with his girlfriend. Anita final

Moonlight Mile always takes me back to Christmas '71. The house is dark, the tree is lit and 14-year-old me is getting off on the wonderful swell of strings at the end of the song. "Yeah I'm goin home..."

QuoteTonstone Pity they did not seem fit to comment on 'Crossfire Hurricane' That was a real shame when they had the chance. I remember watching the opening in Edinburgh and coming out disappointed of no mention of Stu. Agreed! I think there's a shot of the back of Stu's head in the opening scenes from the '72 tour...and that's it. I didn't think much of CH--w

QuoteRipThisBone And why not record them with a cassette player at least or in the basement studio? It's strange that nothing has ever leaked in all those years by Keith and Gram (and Mick) together. According to Greenfield's book on the Nellcote days, Mick didn't get along with Parsons at all. Gram was very wasted most of the time and eventually Keith and Anita asked him to lea

Quotecrumbling_mice HP Sauce....never underestimate HP Sauce. Keith never travels without it, Bill was also quite fond of it. Classic English condiment and I also would never be without it! HP sauce was the secret ingredient to Exile,,,,and pretty much every other Stones album! I'm here in Middle America and HP sauce is always in my kitchen cupboard. I order it through UK sellers on Amaz

I've been seeing TV spots for the upcoming "Roseanne" reboot. The music behind the spot is Whole Lotta Rosie. Maybe someone on the staff is paying a little tribute. I hope Mal and Bon are having a laugh over that.

Very sad to hear this. I can recommend his book "C'mon Get Happy : fear and loathing on the Partridge Family bus." He comes off as a likeable, talented guy who quickly tired of the teen idol scene and tried to be taken seriously as musician. The Partridge Family became an albatross he couldn't shake.

QuoteFrogSugar (and yes, I know about the Get Yer Yayas Out's studio tracks where they piled audience cheers on top of it, but that was a management shenanigan that the band had nothing to do with apparently) This happened with Got Live if You Want It, not Ya Yas.
