I have the original London LP; it was a Christmas present from my mom in 1970. Overdubs be damned. This record kicks ass!

Quotebassaleman I had tickets for the Garden but I rather have Brian take a break and get well. He has to stop driving those race cars! Brian does not have a cold or a sore throat. He has, apparently, damaged his hearing to the extent that he risks losing it altogether. He may be able to record with the band, but I cannot imagine how he could perform live knowing the likely consequences.

Love this tune! Brian and, as Keith once noted, "all that Arabic riff." I've always heard the lines as: "We don't care if you hound we and lock the doors around we."

I don't think Mick would *ever* allow a Keith solo number in a Stones set list.

Quotejaggered1 I highly recommend "The Skiffle Sessions - Live In Belfast" Van Morrison,Lonnie Donegan,DrJohn & Chris Barber. A fantastic foot tapping album. Well jaggered1 beat me to it but, yeah! And may I add that this disc does not suffer from the repetetive-ness of the old guitar/washboard/tub bass records. Great stuff from beginning to end.

Don't forget Lonnie's big US hit: Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor On the Bedpost Overnight. #5 on Billboard in 1961. Skiffle is fun, but I've found that a little goes a long way. After a while it all starts to sound the same. Lonnie did a great disc with Van Morrison: The Skiffle Sessions. Recorded live in Belfast in 1998. Dr John plays on couple of tracks. They do a bunch of

Quotepepganzo Fantastic album. I'll buy a new copy of BB in cd. In your opinion which is the best version/edition? The ABKCO 2002 release seems to be the pick. Apparently, earlier versions were mastered at the wrong speed.

Stu is the piano player on this Ronnie Lane DVD taped for German TV in 1980. Some nice close-ups of him workin' the eighty-eights. I don't think I've ever seen that much of him playing! Pretty reasonably priced on Amazon.

OK, so I watched this Saturday night. Certainly not the most magnetic performance, but I've been hearing about this semi-legendary show for so long I couldn't pass it up. Boy, Keith looked really rough. Bill Wyman has mentioned that Keith showed up hours late for the afternoon sound-check/rehearsal unwashed, unshaved, and looking "very untogether." I liked the opening Live Wit

Quotechrismusic I was looking at pictures of how Charlie (obviously one of my favorite drummers) & I notice that uses only one Tom ...?? Thanks... I know what you mean here but, just for clarity, Charlie uses 2 toms: a rack tom that he mounts on a snare stand, and a floor tom. Check out the studio Brown Sugar: that's the floor tom during the verse. No hi-hat--just snare, tom and kic

Quotekeefriff99 He sounds and looks amazing here, and he was 62! It really sucks that he wasted his talent and career by not writing or recording anything of note past the '70s, and by never paying a decent backing band to accompany him onstage. He could've been so much more impactful to the rock'n'roll community later into his career if greed and bitterness hadn't

I don't have the book in front of me, but I think there was something in Greenfield's S.T.P. about some Angels contacting Chip Monck during the 72 tour and demanding some sort of payment they felt they were owed dating back to Altamont. There was the suggestion that if Monck didn't meet their demands, "something" might happen to derail the tour. I don't think anythin

Quoteroryfaninva Kinda like McCartney and Wings, Savoy Brown in recent decades is Kim and anyone else hes hired on at the time- but the classic lineup is the one fronted by Chris Youlden with Lonesome Dave on guitar, a popular concert draw in the USA back in the day..... Oh yeah! I remember buying Raw Sienna in '71 because I liked the cover (I was 14) and being completely weirded out but,

Hey! I didn't notice that. I did a quick search on the Interwebs for "signed Stones lithos" and none of the Taylor-era pieces that popped up have Mick T.'s signature. Maybe he wasn't asked or said "no." I did see a litho of the Spanish Sticky Fingers with Ronnie Wood's signature (!)

Saw this on late-night TV: The TV spot made it look like you got all three for $199. No such luck--that's the price for each. If I had the cash, I'd might splurge on this, though 12x5 seems a little out of place next to LIB and Ya Yas. Interesting that Brian's signature is on LIB, Mick Taylor's is not. I guess, technically, that's true (someone at Time-Life has

Greenfield's book (S.T.P.) indicates that the band, or at least Keith, thought the KC show was so bad that they scheduled the Dallas "rehearsals" before the Texas shows.

QuoteHMS Oh, this is so beautiful, I love it. The Stones should surprise their audiences playing Country Honk instead of the well known other tune... CH onstage with the fiddle and everything would be brilliant! But, unfortunately, I think the Stones are all out of surprises.

I see a lot of love for this album here but, honestly, GHS was a huge disappointment for me. Charlie's drums sound like they were recorded underwater. Billy Preston's wakka-wakka keyboards...Jagger's vocals...there's very little about this record that appeals to me. 100 Years Ago and Winter are listenable, but this thing just sounds so weak, so...flaccid. Haven't listene

I got this as a birthday gift from a girlfriend in '72. Every time I listen to Exile I'm taken back to that summer. Every track--yes, even I Just Wanna See His Face--stirs up a memory. I'd just turned fifteen, and not only did I have a cool girlfriend, but I was in love with the Rolling Stones. It was never this good again. QuoteNaturalust I also think this was the last real gen

June 8 at the old Milwaukee County Stadium. My first, and least favorite Stones show. I was eighteen and had been a pretty serious fan since my girlfriend shoplifted a copy of EOMS for my birthday in '72. GYYYO? Are you kidding me? I didn't even have to put the record on the turntable; I could hear every lick, every cymbal crash in my head any time I wanted. I had devoured Dalton's

Video CD (or, VCD) is a uniquely Asian format. VHS tapes don't do well in the humid climate, so a cheap, durable format was developed. I've purchased a number of VCDs of Hong Kong movies and some J-pop. I've never had a problem playing them in my USA DVD player. A couple of drawbacks: no extras or even chapters--just drop it in and hit play. Also, because they are a low(er) cost al
