I have seen some of the 1978 live performances on YouTube. They are not that good. The tempo is always too fast, and the sound is not nearly as great as the original as the studio version.

Hand of Fate refers to the decision to inject heroine into the veins to get high. At least, that is what I think it means.

I have read blogs from Stones fans who have criticized the guitar playing of Keith. I am proposing that his playing at concerts and in bootlegs is not representative of what he can do and has done in a music studio with the assistance of sound engineers. Here are some things to consider: Keith is notorious for drinking too much liquor or for taking other substances at concerts, and this could

This is a sequel to my earlier smash hit thread, Most Underappreciated Stones Song, and Reasons. I am talking about a Stones song all people know immediately when heard on the radio. You, however, realize that this song literally stinks to high heaven. My vote goes to START ME UP First of all, the lyrics are creepy. Yuu make a dead man come, is about as creepy as it gets. The rhythm is sill

I never cared for Look what the Cat Dragged In. I would rather listen to the screeching, grating, and amplified sound of a person running his fingernails across a chalk board.

It is pretty obvious to me that, whatever the Stones do, not everyone will be happy. This is what I mean: When the Stones release the newer version of EOMS, some will say that it is just repackaged nostalgia, and that the songs are rejects from the classic EOMS. Others will complain that it was not released ten years earlier. When the Stones tour again in 2011, some will jump at the chance

This is what Rip This joint is supposed to sound like. There is a vast difference in quality between this original version and this rip off presented by someone who does not seem to know the difference between Stones music and Muzak.

Well, the lead guitarist can certainly play more notes per minute than Keith would ever want to play, but the playing lacks feeling and as someone said earlier is shallow. Also, I could not get a handle on the melody of the new songs. I cringe at the sight of those fellows butchering some of the old Stones classics, like Rip This Joint. This is not what I would expect from Jagger. I find it hard

I like the part when Jagger sings: Hey Baby, I'm tired, I'm tired of doing what I'm told...... Wow! There really are a lot of time changes, and the drumming fits in well too. The Keith and Mick harmonizing is as good as I have heard. I wish they would sing this one at their next concert, hopefully in 2010.

I like everything about Ronnie. First, with his slim youthful figure, he looks like a Stone should look. Please forgive me for saying this, but Mick as a young man was just too handsome and now he is morbidly obese and a pain to have to look at. Ronnie's guitar work is much more sloppy and funky, and it perfectly compliments Keith's playing. Mick's playing is far too precise and co

Many years ago my girl friend asked me why I liked the Stones so much. I fumbled around and said something like: they are so different, because of the beat, and so on, but could never think of the right two words. If you are a true Stones fan, you should not have too much difficulty thinking of two adjectives to describe the delight you experience in listening to that certain Stones song for the

I almost forgot about this one. This was one of the first numbers performed by the Stones, long before they became famous. It has a driving beat, the singing is inspired, the Keef solo is spot on, and it just plain swings. This is not a silly pop song. I have heard it performed by respected jazz, blues, and easy listening crooners. I have listened to it literally hundreds of times. I am talking a

My vote goes to Hand of Fate. I love the slow funky beat, Jagger's vocals, and the Keith and Mick harmonizing. I don't particularly care for the fancy solos (by Wayne Perkins, I think), but the brief 17 second Keith solo after the refrain is phenomenal. I never could understand why it was not performed more live, or got more radio play. Enjoy.

I have been to three indoor arenas to see and hear the Stones, but have always left a little unsatisfied with the sound quality. First, the volume is always far too loud to the point that it is painful. I will not complain about that too much because most spectators, I think, expect very loud volume. I have been to some concerts and not heard the guitars at all because the drums and chiefly the b

This is some of the best news ever. I cannot believe it. Ten new songs from the Golden Era of the Stones!I can't wait to hear new mesmerizing riffs from Keef. My guess is that they will release another new CD in the fall of 2011, which will be the backbone of the new tour. Here is a good title for the new tour. After 40 years, it was 40 Licks. What about..................................

In my opinion, the Stones are at their very best when they are playing the slow moving, mournful songs like these: Love In Vain Good Times, Bad Times Back of My Hand and Down in a Hole Listen to this one: Down in a hole is as good as the Stones get in this genre. What other songs of this type could be included on an all blues CD by the Rolling Stones?

I am the guy who initiated this thread. I have read all the posts. It would appear that there is a double standard for Jagger and there is another standard for other famous people who cheat on their wives, or seem to want to score with as many chicks as is humanly possible. Also, if any of you think Jagger has been faithful to L'Wren for eight years, then you are incredibly naive. I am n

The chief reason I listen to the Stones a lot is the music. I admit that I have also been intrigued by the life style of Jagger who most likely has slept with thousands of women and cheated on his wife many times. I have also read of the sexual exploits of Bill Wyman, Ronnie Wood, and Brian Jones. Yet I look up to the Stones as heroes who can do no wrong. Tiger Woods was caught lying about hi

My first Stones song was Street Fighting Man. Sure, I had heard a few songs by the Stones but was not swayed one way or another. I heard that song in a head shop in Knoxville, Tennessee many years ago and thought how very different it sounded from the other drivel being played on the stereo system of the store. It sounded crude and primitive, and the rhythm was superb.

When I listen to a Stones CD, I routinely skip over some songs I do not particularly care for to get to my favorites. Not that the skipped over songs are terrible, but each fan has his favorites. So the questions is: When listening to Stones CD's, about what percent of the tracks do you often listen to, on the average, considering the entire Stones discography? My answer is 50%. Ple

We have seen Bridges to Babylon, A Bigger Bang, Voodoo Lounge, and 40 Licks (twice). My favorite tour was the first one, Voodoo Lounge in Cincinnati. I will never forget the Stones walking out on stage and tuning their guitars for a few minutes prior to playing. The roar from the crowd was shocking and just unbelievable, as they entered the stage. A man in front of me talked constantly about

I too am a new member of this message board. I have seen 5 concerts so far and will definitely see the one coming up in 2011. I listen to the Stones all the time on my long commute to and from work. I really enjoyed the moving stage of A Bigger Bang. My favorite songs are Hand of Fate, Bitch, and Star Star. You may have already seen my eralier post, Killer Latter Day Keith Riffs.

Louisville, Kentucky, Churchill Downs, September 2006 There is a funny story to this concert. Before the concert, we went to a local bar where a Shidoobee fan gave me a press on tongue. After having applied it to my right cheek, we proceeded to the concert on foot. When it began to rain, we pulled out our makeshift raincoats, which were large black trash bags with a hole cut out to stick the h
