Quotebuttons67 not the same old songs, but fresh setlists, that change dramatically from gig to gig not just by the odd number or 2. Agreed. They should have the same kind of attitude like Grateful Dead had with a different setlist every night. That would be something.

Tough question and very hard to just pick three albums. I'd recommend one from each eras (Jones/Taylor/Wood): "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" which is a brilliant live album. "Beggars Banquet". Very basic raw rock and great album from Brian era. "Sticky Fingers". Great riffs and solos. And when you're looking at other direction I would slip in "So

QuoteMathijs Quotesteffiestones Is the ESSEN and The MILAN FOOTAGE not from the same source ?? I believe all is from Milan, except the B&W footage which is from Essen, and the rehearsal footage is from Finland. Mathijs I think the rehearsal clip is from Sweden. Helsinki gig was at Olympic stadium, not indoors.

In that Essen film Charlie's wearing AC Milan jersey so it must be from Italy then, right?

I saw The Doors Are Open on Finnish TV in summer 1983. I didn't know much about The Doors by that time (Light My Fire and other hits of course) but when the first chords of "When The Music's Over" came from the loudspeakers I was mesmerized. That documentary has the best versions of those songs (unfortunately quite much edited versions).

Hard to compare these two because they are quite different kinda albums. Both albums to me are top ten Stones LP's and both have excellent songs. What if they never released SG and ER and a new LP from these two sessions were compiled to be released in 1980 (like EMOTIONAL GIRLS or SOME RESCUE, haha) what kind it would be? My suggestion: Side A: 1) Miss You 2) When The Whip Comes D

To me Under Cover is the last real Stones album. The rest are way too long, at least VL, BTB & ABB should've been one LP releases and DW and SW aren't just that good anyway. My thoughts: (3 = always listen, 2 = sometimes I skip this, 1 = listen very seldom, 0 = almost always skip this) Under Cover = 3 (Just brilliant song with nice beat and guitars) She Was Hot = 1 (nice ro

QuoteStonesTod haggis for breakfast...roast goose for dinner....all washed down with shiner seasonal Haggis is great with neeps and tatties and a wee dram o' whusky. Sadly I haven't found a single shop in Finland that sells even tin haggis but in the late nineties I went to a nearby farm to get the needed ingredients and made two all by myself. That was a nice experience. Maybe on

Quotestillife I like the the way Keith acts on stage till the Urban Jungle Tour. I think he was great in 81. Now he an Ron are just embarassing on stage. Do they do this because they can`t play like they used to? Is it that Keith wants to keep his R&R pirate image alive? I figure he started this leg kicking and acting in 1989 and it gets worse and worse. Hopefully he focuses more on the gui

Because I love progressive rock I've always liked TSMR and I never have compared this to Pepper (which is not the best Beatles album). This is different story. Citadel and 2000 Light Years are my favourites but there are also other good songs. I even like Gomper which is quite extraordinary Stones song and therefore refreshing. It would've been better if "See What Happens" was

I think the album has too many songs in it. It's the sin that many bands and artists do these days: release an 80 minute album with lots of poor filler songs. ABB should've been 1 LP release with 10 songs. My choice: Rough Justice / It Won't Take Long / Back Of My Hand / This Place Is Empty / Oh No, Not You Again / Dangerous Beauty / Laugh, I Nearly Died / Sweet Neo Con / Drivi

QuoteSipuncula I like that rating system! Agree with your ratings as well, but I would tick ER up a notch. It's gone from 0 when I first became acquainted with that tune to a 2 at this moment. Indian Girl was formally a 0 for me, but is now a 1. Thanks. I tried to keep this quite simple. I must try to rate all the Stones LP's this way and see what happens And I had the same thou

Quoteletitloose QuoteSleepy City Quotewhitem8 lighten up. I am trying to be funny, but also serious in saying that while drugs had their negatives, they also propelled many bands of the sixties and seventies to create some pretty stirring music. Many drug addicts use the "creativity" excuse to justify their habits. Far better for their egos than just admitting that they're basic
