I remember seeing some pro-shot footage from one of the BB August 2006 shows on YouTube. Is this show available in its entirety as a DVD? Thanx FT

The contemporary usage of R n B is a record industry euphemism for black pop music. Sometimes also coyly referred to as 'urban'. I guess it's all about marketing to racial groups. Quite ugly in a sense but no doubt profitable.

Watching the old live clips on 25x5 and Video Rewind inspired me to start hunting down the old bootleg concert films. 25x5 should probably have a DVD rerelease and Video Rewind should be updated with a slew of more recent promo vids and live clips.

Jazz seems to have had more of an influence in the more open-minded and creative field of electronic music. Rock music and even so-called indie have largely stagnated. The cult of personality among famous rock musicians and the constant recycling of past triumphs in mags like Mojo seem to have created a heritage museum that has now been mined to exhaustion. I do wonder which bands from today w

Yep it's obviously KR's sense of humour to include himself with those great singers! These lists are very boring but easy filler for mags who know that it will set certain fans off arguing to the nth degree. Surely it won't be long before they do a Top 100 Lists of All Time.

I can understand that most bands who cover it love SFTD and want to pay their respects but I think SFTD is best left uncovered. It is a rather special song with a Samba rhythm and is not metal and not really rock either. When the delicate yet powerful structure is buried under layers of squealing distortion, the essence is lost. Sometimes less is more.

Talking of bands having the young folks on stage with them, Christina Aguilera on SAL is my fave. Having young artists on stage erases any doubts that the Stones are not a hot sexy band who know whats hot. Right kids?

Absolutely - there would be a tremendous Clash of the Egos between EC and MJ! Anyone who is perceived as a worthy foe by the RS wouldn't be considered.

My old VHS lists loads of song clips. Maybe you should break the chapters into larger chunks along the lines of the 1960s, 1970s etc, the same way the documentary is structured? FT

Hi I'd like to ask if anyone would like to do a trade for the Knebworth 76 show and something from the 1978 tour such as Handsome Girls, New Orleans or Fort Worth. I've got a fairly good trade list including non RS stuff as well. Thanks FT

I'm sure the music industry has considered what I'm saying - have someone like KR mentor some gifted young guitarist/songwriter who is seen to have potential to carry the band's legacy forward for future generations. Not a Beatlemania covers band but to be sufficiently well versed in the roots and influences of the RS as well as their vast recording archive to take things into new

Yes I think you're right. Altho I do not think them carrying on for another 10-15yrs will do their legacy many favours. It all depends on their ability to play well. I hope they don't end up like Chuck Berry. But because they are such a profitable, multi generational franchise, the temptation and pressure will be to milk it for as long as possible. Maybe they will even recruit

Yeah there was a bit of flab on UYI 1 and 2. Personally I liked Shotgun Blues. And yeah, who IS in GnR these days? Izzy Stradlin's entry on Wikipedia says he is open to a Gunners reunion tour with the classic line-up. Are there any boot live DVDs from the UYI tour?

Dead Flowers is a simple, easy to learn song so i'd recommend it as a good starting point. It works equally well on an acoustic or clean electric. I learned many RS songs just by playing the same track over and over until you get it. The chords for the verse are D-A-G-D. The chords for the "Take me down little Suzi" part are, if memory serves, G-A, then A-D. You can ju

Quotekeefriffhard4life well not everyone i named was an 80's hair band especially when you read that list of albums to get from 1980-1990. aerosmith, pantera, metallica, black crowes, megadeth are 80's hair metal? and to the guy who said what axl is doing name is a joke or travesty or whatever, guns n roses were popular from '86-'94. thats 8 years and while working on th

You're being pedantic. G N R was Rose, Slash, Stradlin, McKagan and Adler. No one cares about some also-rans who dropped out of the band before G N R became popular! Anyhoo, the current incarnation is not G n R. It's The Axl Rose Experience covering the classics. Even the talented Buckethead left.

Who gives a rats ass about him anyway? I saw him on the Jonathan Ross show and he came across as extremely weird, humourless and out of touch.

Bands haven't been allowed to "craft" albums for years. The music industry lost patience with artists taking years to knock out some average material which sold poorly and cost the company dearly. AFAIK, artists are under far stricter company supevision and are now expected to churn out CD products once a year. Most, if not all, new signings are on one album deals. If it do

No one, except Kurt Cobain, knows why Kurt Cobain killed himself. Indeed, several members of Sonic Youth believe he was murdered. Nirvana and Nevermind were a defining point of the 90s...altho there may be some dispute over to the exact decade they existed in ;-) I was fortunate to see them live on the Nevermind tour at the Newcastle Mayfair and have Kurt and Chris sign the cover of my Never

If I was born in 1990 and someone asks me which decade I was born in, I would say the 90s. I'm not going to say the 80s right? I'd sound like I'd gone mental!

You clearly work on a different calendar system to me! I use the same calendar as double door - the 90s started in 1990.
