Quotestudiorambo Would love to have an inline recording of the show. It's supposedly a really good performance by the Stones, despite the chaos surrounding them. You'ld be disappointed. My Altamont LP sounds like it was recorded on one of those rectangular Radio Shack cassette decks. I only keep it for historical value.

QuoteRingo I think the studio version is better than the Ya-Ya's version (which still is brilliant), but here's my favourite version - Leeds 1971 That was awesome. I'm going to get out one of copies on LP & put it on the turntable right now. And, SwayStones, your English is great.

The Dead (i.e., the Grateful Dead w/o Jerry) were doing something like this last year. You paid a fee before the concert, got a numbered ticket, you saw the concert, then right afterwards as you were walking out, you turned in the ticket & got a CD set of the show you just saw. Don't know much else about it (encores, quality, packaging, etc.). Extremely quick turn-around. I d

Quotestill ill How difficult would it have been for the Guardian to find a picture from 1969,nevermind labeling a Wood era pic as being from 'circa 1972'. quote] I was wondering the same thing!!! The Altamont 40th Anniversary video clip at the bottom of the review was interesting.

Quotewith sssoul and where is the photographer's story about how that sequence all came about? Keith showing up late and more or less immediately crashing into something and bringing the whole set down and they decided all they could really do was make the best of it - something like that? I read this same story in 33-1/3: Exile on Main St. by Bill Janovitz. An interesting little book.

QuoteHiccup Look what I found on you-tube..... Hope that helps some of you to make up your mind which one to buy.... Hiccup I bought the Super Deluxe version but my replica "tour poster" is the size of the large book cover, not postcard size. I live in the U.S., so maybe that clip is from someone in Europe?

QuoteSomeTorontoGirl Well, it could have been like Beast's lavish screening at The Met... but it wasn't. Not remotely. The Theatre is the reclaimed front rooms of a row house, holding 16 recycled office chairs (tilt AND swivel!) and the screen was big. For a dining room. At least 8' x 10'. Lined with bookshelves and posters, all it needed was a bowl of Kraft Dinner and a joint

QuoteFour Stone Walls What if Mick Taylor had joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in May '76 instead of Steve Gaines - then he would have been playing the slide on this number ..... (Knebworth Park Aug. '76) I think Steve Gaines did a fine job here as it is.

Quoteboogie1969 And most of the Angels involved were low level, racist, drug-dealing, criminal dirtbags, one of which got away with murder. Did someone mention drugs??? -- According to Gimme Shelter producer Porter Bibb, after Hunter was chased back into the crowd, his girlfriend Patty attempted to intervene when Hunter brandished a handgun. Porter Bibb said he does not know if Hunter fired

Never even heard of it. There seem to be two camps of thought about MH: (1) Poor martyr murdered by the Angels or (2) Troublemarker (for bringing a gun to a concert) who got what was due him. Which came does the film fall into?

Never seen it on CD, at least under this title. The LP I have is the size of a 45 RPM so maybe people think it's not worth it to make a CD limited to only a few songs? (which begs the question as to why one of the new Ya-Yas CDs only has a handful of songs on it)

Not to be ungrateful and ask for "more", but could someone please upload or send me just the radio intro part on its own? My computer has issues downloading large files so I am just trying to download the part missing from my vinyl copy. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Great story, DrPete. "Don't it always seem to go/ you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone" Many thanks for all the cool early Stones photos posted on this thread. And a great reminder to credit the photographer when possible. Be aware, DrPete, the posters here have enough incredible photos to overload even the biggest hard drives -- especially

Welcome, aoxomoxoa!!! You'll meet a lot of cool posters on this site who can answer almost any Stones question you have. And if you are a Dead fan, doubly welcome!!! I can refer you to a lot of great sites dealing with that band as well.

Wasn't he in the MSG audience during the playing of JJF in the Gimme Shelter film? I seem to recall seeing a headshot in the crowd that was supposedly him. I don't much about JT but if he was a Stones fan, he's cool in my book.

Are the posters on this site fans of Rolling Stones music in general or do you listen to their music from just certain eras/time periods? As for myself, I just listen to Stones music from the years 1968-69 to 1974-75 (a/k/a the Mick Taylor years). While the pre-1969 Stones had some good music, I never got into the Brian Jones-era tunes (seemed kind of Golden Oldie). The 1975-on Ron Wood St

Personally, I prefer Let It Bleed. LIB must be the favorite of a lot of others on here as well, considering all the praise the official LP from that tour (i.e., Ya-Yas) gets.
