Oops ! Sorry...my mistake. In that regard, I saw them in Chicago in '78 and that line was DEFINITELY not used.

Nope..."Let It Rock" was the regular opener on the Stones' U.S. tour. Any setlist scan from that tour confirms this.

It started being regarded as the Stones' masterpiece around 1977 or so, following the trio of studio albums that the critics regarded as mediocre (Goats Head Soup, It's Only Rock 'n Roll, Black and Blue).

I would agree with you -- many of the shows on the '75 and '78 tours were worse than that one.

Sad history of events for a terrific band. Their "Behind the Music" episode on VH1 is one of the saddest, most depressing musical documentaries I've ever seen. They were truly ripped-off by unscrupulous musical "businessmen" (more like scavengers) without a conscience.

Anita Pallenberg said once that Mick and Keith will eventually give up all women and come to the realization that they will have to marry each other. I wish I could recite her quote exactly -- it was pretty funny.

Long club gigs in the early days of legendary bands are common. The Beatles were REQUIRED to play six hours a night at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany as well as the other clubs they played there in the Reeperbahn district, and the Who supposedly played four hours a night during their residency at the Marquee Club in London back in '64/'65.

Three night at the Rosemont Horizon, Chicago, November, '81. Same set list every night but they gave it 110% every night as well, so it didn't matter. And I've NEVER seen a more hyped-up audience in my life, to this day.

In his book "Rolling with the Stones", Bill Wyman says that, in his opinion, Kansas City was the single worst gig on the entire '81 tour.

Milwaukee '75. Just awful. Chicago '78. Out-of-tune and lethargic. The 1975 and 1978 tours were the definition of "it depends what night you catch 'em on" --sometimes they were brilliant, sometimes horrible. Which, now that I think of it, was pretty much true of all their tours between 1972 and 1981. After the 'Exile' tour in '72 -- which was consista

I think the worst Stones song is unquestionably "Emotional Rescue". Dumb disco beat, dumb lyrics and worst of all...Mick's horrible falsetto !! 2nd place would have to go to "Too Much Blood". The "slasher murder" rap that Mick does in the middle is just garbage. Way beneath the Stones' integrity.

It's a toss-up between "Satisfaction" and "Start Me Up". Both are great songs, but I think they are the most overrated for the following reasons: "Satisfaction" is the tune the Stones are the most famous for -- but it's HARDLY their best song ("Jumpin' Jack Flash" is), while "Start Me Up" is overplayed on classic rock radio, overpl

No surprise. Sadly, rock is dead as a cultural force and crap -- I mean rap -- is the music that's been in vogue since about 1985/86. So, unfortunately, when we turn on our radios, we'll still hear about dysfunctional urban living with gangstas and "ho's".

The fact -- OK, it's my opinion but it's shared by many Stones fans -- remains that while 'Steel Wheels', 'Voodoo Lounge' and 'Bridges to Babylon' were OK/average Stones albums, 'A Bigger Bang' is the first superior Stones studio release since 'Tattoo You' -- the first to have "legs", so to speak, and the first one that sounds

Wayne Perkins would have joined the band, they would've been bluesier sounding, and probably would have been a little more consistant in the mid-to-late '70's. But then again, I agree that they probably would have broken up in the long run as well (most likely by the early '80's).

I don't think 'Goats Head Soup' is underrated. It's one of the very few sub-par albums the Stones have made (along with 'Satanic Majesties', 'Emotional Rescue' and 'Dirty Work'). It really lacks energy, and the Stones sound bored and extremely drugged out on it. Only "Heartbreaker", "Angie", "Winter" and "@#$%

'Pet Sounds' and 'Never Mind the Bollocks' are two of my top ten albums of all time. I would agree that 'Sgt. Pepper' is overrated musically (though not from a production or cultural importance standpoint), and only because 'Rubber Soul', 'Revolver' and 'Abbey Road' are ALL better Beatles albums.
