Yeah, I think they're pretty cool. I love the single, The Wire, from the first album.

That story is fake. As a Leafs fan I'm happy for Kessel and I think most Buds fans are.

Boo to this. If they're going to expand I wish they'd have picked Quebec City, but I gather their bid fell short in several areas.

Fair enough. There's certainly less interest when there are no Canadian teams in the playoffs, let alone the Final. I was cheering for San Jose because I would have loved to have seen Joe Thornton get a ring. He's had a great career and this may have been his last shot. Having said that, I'm happy for Kessel, considering how much flak he's taken from the press and fans during

I agree with everything you just said, GasLightStreet, except to say that if you're talking "North" America that includes Canada and I can assure you millions of people care here, far more so than they do about basketball, baseball or football. I realize that we have roughly one tenth the population of the U.S. but we are part of North America.

I assume when you say "people in the states" you are including Canada? If that is the case I wouldn't say I don't care; just that there isn't anything I can do about it. I just love hockey: love playing it and watching it. I acknowledge that the NHL is dollar-driven but I'm pretty sure every professional sports league is. But I certainly agree that you have addressed

What was the famous line he gave Megadeth when they asked him to play on their (putrid) cover of Anarchy: "I'll do it for 50 bucks and some suction."

That's a beautiful goal, for sure, but, boy, do you ever look like a jerk if you don't score on that move. Doing it in an important playoff game isn't gonna endear you to the coach, especially when you're trailing by three. Pretty nifty top shelf, though.

I don't think there is any love lost between the IIHF and the NHL. This always seems to be a bone of contention every year when this tournament is discussed on here. Anyway, it's over now but how about congratulations to Hungary, who, if I'm not mistaken, won a game for the first time in 77 years. Now that's a nice story!

Who said it was? I think it's more complicated than one being more important than the other. For one thing, assuming you're referring to the NHL, your "club team" is paying you a lot of money and you play with those teammates all year. Secondly, as has been mentioned many times each time this tournament occurs every year, the Worlds just aren't that big a deal in North Am

Yeah, I hear you. I'm a Leafs fan so, presuming that they pick Matthews first overall, I'd hate to see him make the Under 23 team, then get injured. I figure with our luck that'll happen.

I'm very pleasantly surprised by the result. It was looking like Finland was unstoppable, especially with Laine lighting it up. I gotta say I have very little interest in the World Cup of Hockey-looks like a cash grab for the NHL to me. Do we need another tournament? Anyway, congrats to both teams today-I wasn't allowed by my daughter to watch but will watch the highlights later.

I noticed that, looking especially at the Swedish and U.S. line-ups: a lot of the best available players presumably turned down the invitation to play. The Finns definitely look like the team to beat and Patrick Laine is lighting it up.

I have the utmost respect for them and love certain songs but I gotta agree with Come On in that I have never liked any of their singers' voices. Having said that, the riffs are awesome-Walk All over You (used to cover that one and it always brought the house down), You Shook me All Night Long, Money Talks. It's funny-once they became huge with Highway to Hell and Back In Black when

I was excited when Earl Slick joined the fold but it ended up being a strange fit. I love his playing, in general, and saw him with Bowie three times, but it was as though he couldn't be bothered to try very hard in the Dolls. He actually used a capo on some of the classics and when he attempted the iconic riff to Jet Boy it just sounded…weird. Maybe he was too good a musician to nail the Th

Yeah, I don't understand such a negative reaction to the Dolls. Garbage? What a crock. Barf? Your loss. Great rock 'n' roll and thumbs up for the plug for Remarquable Records! Obviously, they don't hold a candle to the Stones but they certainly captured that same spirit.

Quotelem motlow i think the Dolls were a band with alot of camp and sense of humor that doesnt really come across now-of course they were doing a sendup of mick and keith but in a fun way, they weren't great musicians like the guys you're mentioning them with so it isn't fair. Calling Aerosmith 'stones clones" is a bit comical when you consider Joe Perry could play circ

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Quotedcba Jerry Nolan was a wonderful drummer with a unique sense of groove. He really flourished with the "Heartbreakers". Any live document from 78-79 is worth your attention... There is something about those left handed drummers... I agree wholeheartedly with both these observations.

QuoteRockinJive QuoteDan The New York Dolls debut is one of the most perfect albums ever laid down. As far as what? As far as rock 'n' roll albums go. I'm with Dan. And as much as I was initially skeptical about the reunion that began in '04 (how could there be no Thunders or Nolan?) I ended up seeing 'em four times and it was insanely great every time.

Quotedcba Quotemidnrambler Btw, I have later uploaded the correct WLIR broadcast on EL (but it's gone since the big crash). How do you differenciate the two? I remember I got one but I'd like to know if it's faulty one or the definitive one I DL'ed... RE stupid bootlegers the new Glasgow'73 tape was immediately bootlegged though it was faulty speed-wise. I guess no

I read in the news that Toronto Maple Leafs has stopped William Nylander from further playing in this tournament. Protecting their investment, so to speak. Which in a way reveals the interests behind this tournament. It's a recruiting centre for the NHL. The NHL will reap the best of our crop so to speak. And, even worse, half of them will be benched and play in a supporting league (AHL).
